    Re: Why do Customers ……….

I went to a customer today who reported a non-existent fault on his cooker hood. He knew what the problem was of course, he was no amateur, he’d worked on industrial gas turbines in the past!

Well they’re so similar aren’t they!

This is going to be VERY controversial, and I’m getting my tin hat out as I write but………………..

Isn’t it always teachers who always expect the engineer to fit in with their early finishes.

Teachers seem to feel that the service industry shoul work around their finish time. I often get PM after 4 jobs given to me, and of course it is usually a teacher!

I know I will get some flak, and no doubt some of the forum members will have partners as teachers.

I’m not saying its all of them, but teachers are like that!

Check the latch again, I bet it has turned back again. If it has, you need to bend the u piece down slightly to engage better

Blimbey, I’m thinking that it goes on like a hat! now I think about it, I HAVE seen these, but only the top part shows!!!!

    😳

I feel a bit of a Wally now.

Whats that square thing with 3 pins on it that is on the end of a washing machine cable? 😀 😀 😀

The picture of the spigot still doesn’t enlighten me! I must be being really thick today.

I’ve been to lots of un sawn-off spigots where the appliance won’t drain DUH!

but What is the blue thing? Presumably some of these spigots come with one of those blue things over it? I think the penny may be dropping!

    I think I’ve got it??

If so, I can honestly say I’ve never seen one of those. I seem to come across the ones where the end hasn’t been sawn off!

Hi, the pcb you mention has just been superceded. The new part number is W0000024. This is the same pcb with 4 black switches instead of white ones.

    Re: Do you recognise this?

I read the post about the Parisian Postmark, but initially read it as a Pakistani postmark, and initially didn’t twig. I than realised that this was in reference to a ‘letter from France’ and then understood why an ‘elastic band’ should be stuck round the impellor.

In my experience, they don’t wash well and I would recommend to customers the use of a fresh one on each occasion 😀

Ok, somebody has to admit their ignorance and break cover. What the bloody hell is it? In all my years of being in the trade, I can’t say I know exactly what the mystery object is.

Can somebody please open the box and spill the beans!

ps, I’ve got a feeling I’ll kick myself once suitably enlightened.

    Re: Diplomat 8702 Washer Dryer

I am almost certain I can answer this one for you. You will almost certainly find that one of the push-buttons will be open circuit, and probably showing signs of melting. The supply to the dryer timer comes from that particular switch, but I can’t remember which switch! I think it is the 2nd switch in.

Please look at the row of red switches, you’ll almost certainly find that one of them is open-circuit.

Thanks for the reply, I will start contacting suppliers. Yep, it’s tough, but I think its better to have a tough time self employed rather than a tough time working for a company who doesn’t care whether you get home at 9 every night!
