A lack of space in a kitchen does not necessarily mean having to forfeit the pleasure and convenience of the latest in appliances. Combination units for example offer the benefits of being essentially two machines in one. A prime example of this breed of appliance are the new Navitronic TouchControl compact ovens from Miele.

Whether baking, roasting or grilling ““ Miele’s compact wall oven offers the full range of functions available on a conventional oven. Add an integrated microwave and what you get is a multi-talented allrounder. It is this range of skills which make the compact oven such a coveted second appliance in many a larger kitchen.

Whether as the main oven for a small household or a complementary product ““ a compact Navitronic TouchControl oven provides unique support and assistance in the kitchen. The user interface works along precisely the same lines as all other TouchControl machines from Miele: All functions are launched using sensor touchpads. Light fingertip contact is sufficient for example to tell the machine that your souffl© is to be done well-browned. The numerical touchpad on Miele’s models superbly demonstrate the practical convenience of Navitronic touch controls: Weights, temperatures and cooking times can be keyed in quickly and precisely using this feature. Operating errors are virtually eliminated by the fact that individual touch controls are only active when required in the specific context of the programming step in hand.

Frequently used applications or favourite recipes can be saved under their own names on Navitronic TouchControl compact ovens. A wide range of Automatic programmes all produce excellent baking, roasting and grilling results, either on their own or in combination with the integrated microwave. In many situations, the machine will offer advice and suggestions on food preparation, a feature particularly well-received by novices and beginners. It is also possible to combine individual operating modes, to use for example the microwave and the fan oven simultaneously. With the pushed-for-time in mind, Miele has developed ‘Quick Microwave’, with programmable times and microwave outputs. This is particularly convenient in frequently used applications such as warming a mug of milk. And to prevent misunderstandings, all selected settings appear as text in the display.

The inner cabinet features a new linen-weave surface finish. This is a lightly sculptured surface which is exceptionally easy to clean. Even abrasive detergents, which are good at removing soil but unfortunately leave scratches on glossy stainless-steel surfaces, do not make the least impression on the woven surface pattern. In Germany, this finish has been patented, and further patents are pending on an international scale.

As on other Miele ovens, the inner surface of the door is perfectly flush and hence both easy to clean and ideal as a surface on which to place casserole dishes and baking trays. A redesign of the oven door has reduced the maximum surface temperature on the outside to 60°C.

Miele’s Navitronic TouchControl compact oven is designed for installation in a 45 cm tall unit recess. In combination with a conventional oven, a steam cooker or a dishwasher from the same range, the unique design comes into its own, making a bold statement in any kitchen.
