When you switch on after setting the programme, the 3 quick flashes indicate that the programme has been accepted. This is followed by the click of the door lock and the light should go steady. An immediately detected fault on the motor (F1) is a steady pulsing of the lamp. F3 for instance would be 1-2-3-pause-repeat.

I guess that means new machine ideally….. as it is about 5 years old i asssume this is the start of many failings…..

To be fair, whilst these machines are not of the greatest quality, it would be worth having a look at the motor to see if the carbon brushes have worn out. That’s a maintenance job rather than a fault. Broken/chaffed wiring is a common problem, again solvable, with a little bit of patience.
It would be a shame to scrap the machine for £10-£15 worth of parts.
Stay safe, power off if investigating.

i did wonder….
i am an ex electronics engineer so have skills with the trustee soldering iron!!!
i think maybe before i order a new one i should dig the machine right out and investigte fully the wiring and motor. it would be a shame to bin on simple brushes or broken cable!
i have to say…. this is one of the most respected (by me) sites to have come across. I am an IT Consultant and own http://www.megahostuk.net if you need new hosting or anything i assure you i will be extra specially competitive since you have been so good to me!

Mr Watt will no doubt note your computer abilities 😀 ………
These machines are still misunderstood by the public, and to an extent, the trade themselves and do get thrown out on a whimsy. Carbons are a consummable item, wiring suffers due to high frequency vibration in the spin sequence. The computer board itself is the weak spot. If it has failed, at 5 years old, I can’t honestly recommend replacement. The larcenous prices charged by the manufacturers is surely designed to encourage replacement of the entire appliance.
Good luck,

Hi everybody and I must say what a helpful site/forum. My machine is an ARISTON AWD 12S. I have been reading through this thread and hoping for some advice. Last week the spin cycle started making a little more noise than usual. Then this week the machine stopped just before the spin cycle and hasnt done anything since. The power light stays on but nothing happens. I cannot even get the machine to take water on after reset, I have cleared the filter and checked the waste pipe, all seem clear. I have noticed the dryer light flickers unconsistently, is this conected? The machine is 5 years old, is it cost effective to pay callout charges, spares, etc.
Many thanks in advance H.

Thanks for the quick reply hotpnt. Is this the same as the module? Just checking for spare parts and got a few hits for that but not for the control board.
Is this something that is relatively easy to replace?

yes thats the module, but it also needs a programmed eeprom to be fitted as the same module can fit many machines

This may be a dumb question but will the old eeprom work if it is removed and put in the new module? (Can it even be removed?)

just one more thing, WITH THE PLUG OUT make sure the heater wires are not broken/burnt, can cause 8 flashes, but it is usually the board
