    Good morning gentlemen,

How are you getting on with MFI? Are you being paid on time, correct amount and low rejections etc.

I am having difficulty communicating with them! My problem is the postage charge on spares. When the work was passed by NESN, the spares were posted to the customer direct. All spares are now sent directly to my office in Blackpool, which is the account address.

We are also being charged 拢3.99 per parcel for postage! Our problem is then sending the spares to my remote engineers and the added cost of posting motors and other heavy/bulky items.

I have made several requests at senior level and I have had no response!

If they are unable to carry out my request, I will be forced to terminate our agreement, as we would be running at a loss. With postage charges, the labour rate is lower than we received from NESN! 馃槬

Please give me some feedback about your personal dealings.

    Thanks, Phil

They seem fine so far Phil and they always charged the postal charge unless sending to the customer, but that did not happen with NESN either, you may have been treated differently as you did not have a contract and, I assume, no account with MFI.

MFI allow a 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} mark up on all spares to allow for this, it’s not enough on small orders so I always batch them and order when there is enough to justify it. MFI realise this as I told them I would do that and they were fine about it.

It’s exactly the same deal through AIS as well.

When we recieved MFI calls via NESN the parts were only sent to us, the account holder. Presumably you then did not have an account with MFI parts department, hence the reason they were despatched FOC to the customer.

MFI always charge 拢4 per order (not per part) and only despatch Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so we always tried to get as many parts on one order as possible. Cosmetic non urgent parts were held back to accumulate as much as possible per order.

We don’t currently carry out any work for MFI so I can’t give you any info on the way it is being handled now, but it may help a bit.

    Dave.

We tend to save the orders up as well, MFI are aware of this as we still order at least 3 times per week, so there is little delay.

The 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} may not sound generous, but it is 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more than anyone else will give us.

In short, we don’t get a problem, our only concern is the majority of work is integrated and time consuming.

    Re: MFI

Time this one was dug up again.

How many of us I wonder are still with them and importantly have you noticed the money hasn’t gone up for nearly 3 years. Added to that, the payments are getting slower & slower, then there are rumours regards high staff losses.

I may put something in the subscribers forum, but 1st of all I’m looking for the general feeling. I like them but we are left to get on with it and considering all built-in and a high level of double calls, I’m wondering if they are good for my business.

    Re: MFI

Had a bad patch a few months back but all is stable right now. BACS payment comes ages after the payment advice letter but just put up with that as we still get paid quicker than any other WP. Rejections now few but it depends on wording on invoice. Spares pretty good still. on the whole ok for now. We are getting a high number of non authorised repairs over 拢150 but we still get paid so I am not too bothered about that. Could do with a rate increase though.

    Hi guys,

I’ve had a pop at TB about rates and they are looking at it. 馃槈

Payments slower, again I had a pop and he’s looking into it.

    Re: MFI

Sent T.B. an abrupt e-mail last week, demanding a rate increase.

Followed it up with a phone call couple of hours later, took him ages to stop laughing. He did say the rate was under revue, but told me not to build my hopes up. They haven’t bothered to recruit a replacement for him which either means he was superflous, they are skint, or don’t give a toss any more. Suspect both of the last 2.

I’m now getting selective with them, they send me all their l.p.g. for the postcodes surrounding my area, I e-mail them straight back.

    Re: MFI

yep, email recieved, 拢43 quid a call and TB anouncing officially that he is going:

    Dear Colleague

I am pleased to confirm that from the 9th of September 2007, repair rates for all new calls sent to you will increase by 拢2.00 per completed call.

The next review of the rates will be in September 2008 and, where applicable, increases will be based on the RPI rate (announced by the National Statistics Office in September) for the preceding 12 month period for implementation in January.

On a separate note, it is great to see that everyone鈥檚 efforts (since the transition of the business last year) are beginning to pay off. Internal reorganization, cost control and re-engineering of the business has led to a stabilization in our decline in sales and we are now well on the way to returning the business to profitability.

A direct consequence of that is an investment in the Diplomat brand that will lead to a launch of an exciting new product range towards the end of the year, ready for the Winter Sale. Coupled with that, has been a new product launch via the Howdens Joinery route.

Howdens are introducing a number of new appliances including (non exhaustive):

    路 2 new washing machines

    路 1 washer dryer

    路 A new tumble dryer

路 A selection of Domino hobs and

    路 Various other cooking appliances

Comprehensive product details will be included on our IdenTIFFier disk that will be released shortly.

Finally, having spent the last 10 years with MFI, I have decided that the time is right to explore new opportunities and I will be leaving at the end of the month.

I would like to thank you for playing your part in the working relationships we have formed together over the years. I know my successor will continue that work.

I would like to thank you for your continued support to MFI and our customers and wish you the very best for the future.

    Yours sincerely

I know my successor will continue that work.

    Anyone know who yet??

I also wondered why the new rate comes in on the 9th of the month?
Time to work on Fisher and Paykel methinks, no increase there in a couple of years..
