Well, well, well, yet another Neff f/o element blown just inside warranty…….. this particular oven has consumed 4 in less than 2 years! No logical explanation – door fits perfectly, fan motor spins up fine – no slack or unusual noises, gets up to heat quickly and maintains temperature OK. Reckon I’ll just buy her a new oven – at this rate it’d be cheaper!! I’ve had other Neff f/o element failures before i/g but this thing is a serial killer!!!
Anyone else have failures of these elements? Are they a regular problem? Are they just a poor design? Or am I just bloody unlucky?
Elements in question – Electrue ELE4274, Qualtex ELE4080, Backer B219, BSH083517. Tried them all – fried them all. 😕
Any help or the Samaritan’s phone number greatly appreciated!! 😆

Not having the benefit of the oven model number, some have had modified back panels (sheets) others had elements upgraded (new part numbers) and so on. 😉

That is the old “single Stud” element not one as prone to unexplained failures as the later “no stud” (part number now 493065) one. You dont give another years warranty on the free repalcement do you?

REMEMBER, NEFF IS MANUFACTURED TO EUROPE SUPPLY VOLTAGE, DO ONE SIMPLE TEST ON THE CONSUMERS SUPPLY BEFORE TYRING TO FIT ANOTHER ELEMENT. 💡

Ah, the nominal 230V? We’re still mostly running on 243-246v in the hostile wilds of Yorkshire. It won’t make any difference, as we can only fit the spares we’re supplied with. Last batch of Ariston elements I had were all stamped 220v, picked up the common Creda f/o element, they’re stamped 240v! Aren’t they meant to be the same firm these days?

Unfortunately, this customer is one that hovers around you like a mosquito asking questions and to be honest, it would be great to have a concrete or at least a plausible reason why this keeps happening. To shut the door as you are leaving is a welcome relief. He is a nice enough chap though, and has given us several recommendations so you feel the cost of the fifteen minutes or so of your time to swap the element is probably worth it in customer relations terms.
The element concerned is actually, as you say, the ‘no studs’ version. Apart from the studs, are they different?
I’m doing the job later today so I’ll get the E number etc. and check back on that info about mods to the oven back panels – thanks for that. Then I’ll turn over the hourglass and wait for the next time….. 😳

    Re: Neff fan oven elements

I have had the same with Neff elements. studs, no studs it doesn’t really seem to make any difference, I started fitting genuine elements because i started to think maybe the patterned ones were of inferior quality. That was an expensive mistake!. We have about half a dozen customers that we always seem to end up going back to within a year because the element has failed, yet most of them seem to carry on going.
Haven’t heard about this back panel mod though.

I had this too but switched to Backer and it cured it but now can’t find a Backer supplier and their website is useless. Anyone know one?

For the benefit of us all, could someone elaborate on this back panel modification please (Part Numbers Etc).

    Thanks,

    Mike.

    Re: Neff fan oven elements

Model numbers of them there pesky varmints:
    Neff double ovens:- U1421BOGB/01 (brown)
    U1421WOGB/01 (white)
Amazingly enough, I visited the homes of BOTH of these serial element killers TODAY!!! One house to fit a fourth element to the brown oven and the other house to repair a dishwasher so noted the white oven model no.(OK at the moment – phew!!) Funny they are both the same model.
So does this back panel / element mod apply to these? Also could I have a list of similarly affected ovens? My customer contacted Neff and Magnet kitchens who both had “never heard of this problem before”. No surprise there, hey? 🙄
I am heartened to see that I am not alone with this trouble. Thanks in anticipation…… ❗

purchased 12 pattern elements last year from Maddocks, all failed within 12 months, replaced with genuine BSH 493065 element, none failed since.

As a point of interest BSH have extended the guarantee to three years for element failures on this item. has to be fitted by BSH or appointed agents though.

This type of action usually means there is a problem although they will never admit it.
