Strange how quiet it has been on that though?
I heard at 10 am yesterday through an Electrolux manager. I heard it again through an NESN employee abut 2 hours later, so it is common news, yet remains a secret.
However, thanks to Dr Dill putting up a one line message on the R/C forum dropping a hint about people on “permanent holiday” a reply comes in.
Quote from Bernard Harrison
We will be making an announcement today (26/10) to all our SPs regarding some restructuring / changes within Repaircare.

Well it’s past close of business for most by now, and no issue of any statement!
What I find odd, is why choose the Monday morning to make 3 people redundant, when the 2 remaining management members are on holiday too? Gary & David are on holiday, now the remaining 3 management members are out of a job? Who is managing Repaircare this week?

AdeYou must mean this one. Arrived at 17.57 today…..
Dear Service Provider
As you will be aware we are all currently working in challenging times and we will all continue to face many challenges this year and in future years, including fiercer competition, greater demands from our customers and general economic uncertainty
The company must therefore take steps to refocus and to restructure in certain areas. After considering all possible options the company has decided that as of Monday 25th October the position of Regional Service Manager has been made redundant. This role will be covered by internal resource and will have no affect to the Repaircare service or the Service Provider. We ask that you continue to use your current internal lines of communication until further notice
Customer service telephone number: 0121 766 2212

As per:
With the rumour being confirmed today, I’m a bit shocked to be honest!
I only know Mark out of the 3 and think he might be an asset lost!
I for one will definitely try to speak to Mark somehow to express my surprise and also wish him all the best. I’m hoping he stays within this trade, as IMO, he’s one of the best people I’ve dealt with in this game and would welcome him in to my office any day!
With the email issued today, is Repaircare ok? What I mean is… Is it continuing to progress? The DSG rate cuts have now OBVIOUSLY caused you (Repaircare) in house problems as it has us engineers… How long are these rates & terms survivable?
In some respects, I may not need ask as I’m out of notice period Friday, but as I am here and now, I’m still a Repaircare agent, so I will ask!
I sympathise with Repaircare management for the decisions that have been made this week (For what it’s worth), maybe now, you might kind of see why DSG are hated amongst some repairers…? The DSG situation IMO is something that needs dealing with NOW, to avoid any more casualties.

Reply to my above post from Mr Harrison:
Thank you for your feedback and concerns regarding the people affected by the changes.Naturally we wish them well and thank them for the contribution they made to Repaircare.
To confirm Mark Riley is staying with us and you will be hearing from Mark, I am sure, in the near future.
On a personal note-people keep asking if I am moving (changing jobs) to DSG-the answer is no!
Thanks and regards

Keymaster😆
Heard an interesting snippet this afternoon from a source that reckons that the core business could have issues due to a deal with the city council that’s coming to a close. But, CDSL have apparently not kept up their end of the deal to get rate rebates and are getting chased for £1-2 million.
I’ll try to find out more.

Looks like Repaircare are STILL debiting back to £20 for Kenwood Elba via DSG. Just had another £17 deduction for an exchange, confirmed with Damien @ RC that this is a Kenwood job, NOT Coverplan!

Okay, so here’s the skinny…
There are rumours that CDSL have financial problems at the moment. As I understand it from a most reliable source, they are operating out of two buildings in Birmingham and for the past five years have been getting a very serious and substantial allowance from Birmingham City Council to cover their annual rates charge, a deal made as a result of a request made by CDSL to the council in exchange for taking on employees at the sites.
It appears this arrangement is nearing its end (April 2011) and that it won’t be renewed for a variety of reasons, not least the broken promises on the recruitment but also now as a result of some redundancies.
I am told that the charge will be a little over £1-2m.
Now, given that we know that they’ve creamed off so much cash over the past few years it strikes me that they could easily be able to afford this sort of charge. So why then is there a rumour of the core business having financial issues? Is there any?
All this is really very, very strange and I have to say that I don’t get it.
Working theories are:
DSGi will tak on Repaircare lock, stock and smoking barrels.
DSGi have charged back what they think they’ve been taken for and, on top of that, they’ve got hit (or will be) the council thing.
DSGi haven’t renewed the contract then the rest on top.
It’s all a bunch of b0ll0cks and it’s business as usual.
Basically, not enough information to call it.

A little more info for you…
I do a significant amount of work with Birmingham Trading Standards. I was with one of there senior managers whom let it slip about the withdrawal of the grant from next year. The council are desperately unhappy that they agreed to the grant on the basis of retaining and increasing jobs within the area; something CDSL haven’t done. If fact its gone the opposite way.
It will have a significant impact on the one building they have where they run the call centres and in particular the RC work from. Its a very expensive place to run from.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they don’t shut RC and move the call centre back to the biscuit factory along with every where else.
