Why is it when you have an afternoon call and your early does the customer insist you call after 12 even though they are in?

Went to a large housing development on outskirts of Hull. Had to replaced door glass on an stainless steel oven. Found they were just covered in finger prints so advised site foreman to find someone with some baby oil as its the best thing to clean it with. Quickly added that seeing he on buliding site he would be better asking fo some WD40 instead.

    Dave.

And do they ever listen to advice. You go back to an appliance that you repaired in the past and notice that they still havn’t had that “damaged ” socket outlet or faulty wiring fixed that you made a point of endorsing on your previous invoice. 😡

Blond yummy mummy decides to wash the outside doormat in a Hotpoint WMA…. 😯

2 foot by 3 foot jute mat that sits in a frame with wellie boot scrapers!!!! :rolls:

Loads of banging and crashing coming from the machine, blond yummy stops it and calls me….lucky me 😕

The sodden doormat weights a ton, all 3 drum paddles are broken inside and the tub solid with 4 inches of mud & sand?????

Not a prime candidate for a new ISE machine methinks, so advised her to jump into her Porsche Cayenne Turbo 4by4 and get a new machine 😉

this is a more of what customers say….
mostly trailer trash with iq around about the hedge hog level…(sorry all hedge hogs)..
i paid £179.00 cash for that son yip £179.00 cash that shouldnt of broke down in this short a time..
i just dont get it ?…why do they think it wont break down because theyve paid cash????…..
i think they might be showing off by informing me that they have wads of cash…
i do try to inform them that it doesnt matter how the appliance is paid for it can still break down…but mostly they just stare at the appliance repeating that theyve paid cash for it….
normaly at this point their other half comes in from repairing the ford sierra thats up in ramps in the front garden..mubling on about how he paid cash for it….

time to make my excuses and run…
    cheers ally

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

One of THE most annoying things customers do is NOT LISTEN to what advice you give them? The 2 most regular ones is overloading and overworking washing machines. The most recent classic cases of this happened to me only last week.

Customer No 1) Hoover Door Hinge snapped off!

Probable cause a combination of corrosive powder spilt from dispenser drawer coupled with forcing door shut with a 10 kg washload?

Advice given, don’t overload machine and clear up any spillage from dispenser. Will she listen?….who cares!

Customer No 2) Bosch machine, brushes worn out!

More dirty washing stacked around this utility room than in a Chinese laundry (see the warning signs here?)

Advice given after she says “As you can see I’ve got a hell of a backlog of washing!” was to spread this lot over a few days and do please allow 10 to 15 mins between washes to allow the motor to cool down. Her reply “Bloody hell I haven’t got time to hang around with this lot!”

    Hey ho!…who cares!

P.S another thing I’ve learned but only very recently since my ‘Detergent Training’ that is. And that is to never try and tell a battle hardened 50 (plus) year old woman that she’s been using the wrong powder all these years?….it’s never worth it, your ‘street cred’ goes out the window if you do…trust me! 8)

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

When customers ring I always ask them the make of their appliance. It’s amazing how many of them reply with answers like “You must remember, you have sorted it twice before” or “don’t you remember, you were only here 6 months ago?”
I also do wiring work and just before Christmas I was asked to fit 3 new sensor lights at our local Community Hall, to replace existing outside lights. I was given no instructions about where any of these should go so I assumed I was meant to use my initiative. There were 4 outside lights already so obviously they had to keep one of the existing ones. 2 of the old lights were broken or faulty so I changed both them. The other new one I fitted to replace a light over one of the 2 entrances. I thought they were all identical but I’ve since been told that 2 were 300 watt halogen, the other was 150 watt. Since there is normally nobody at the hall when it’s not in use I assumed the new lights were to help people attending evening events. I therefore was only concerned about lighting the side of the building facing the car park and the entrance areas. One of the old broken lights was a conduit mounted one which poked out from a corner and illuminated 2 sides of the building. The new light could not be mounted on the conduit so was fixed to the wall, only illuminating 1 side.
I saw the chap who asked me to fit the lights yesterday and apparently I’ve got just about everything wrong. The different wattage lamps are in the wrong places, the one over the entrance should not have been changed, the one I didn’t change should have been changed, the wall that’s now not lit up should be etc etc. Apparently they have suffered vandalism and the lights are to be left on all the time even though there will be nobody there to see them come on, apart from the vandals themselves. I think the chap realises that it’s his own fault for not giving me any instructions but it’s still infuriating.

I went to a Bosch dishwasher today, complaint = flooding!

I opened the door and inside it was like the white cliffs of Dover! 😯

When I checked the salt container it was full of what appeared to be detergent? I asked her what the stuff was and she said………

“CALGON!!!….I put Calgon in it once a week, but the day before the dishes were terrible, I had to re-wash by hand, so last night I squirted a tiny bit of Fairy liquid inside and 30 mins later my kitchen floor wash awash!!!!!”

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Some great stuff in this thread .
How about when you ask the customer for a description of the fault on their washing machine and they say ” Sorry mate , i’ve no idea , i’m only sitting in for the owner”…..and then they spend 15mins trying to get in touch with the owner to find out whats actually wrong !!!

Or the ….”of course i’ve checked the pump/filter” …..reply . Oh really madam , then why can’t i even get the cover off because of this loose bra wire. Perhaps you’d like a job if you can manage that !!!

And i get irate with those customers who’s appliances are covered by insurance and then when you ask to see their insurance certificate , you get a blank look , followed by a “mmmm , i’m not sure where it is”……. 😡

Had two people ring me today with,
‘the washing is now stone cold at the end of the wash….it never used to be’ :con:
They then get shirty when you ask if its been moved, hoses changed etc etc.

Arranged to call on this lady between 10 and 12 today. Called at 11:15, rang bell several times, banged on door, no joy. Left a customer out card and away to my next call. About an hour later she rings me all apologetic….

“sorry about that luv, but I forgot to put my hearing aids in this morning!”

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

they phone up at 4 o,clock desperate, you go out your way to go and see
them by working late.call is 12 miles away.

it needs a new pump i have one here. “thats great but i have no money”.
i dont do any work without being paid. “come back tomorrow to fix it”.
i call back next day. ” i havent had a chance to get money yet i will call you when ive got money.”

i only look stupid i know as soon as her husband finds out its the pump he goes and buys one and fixes it himself.

48 miles, 1 hour of time, free advise, priceless.
