Why do customers ask ‘Do you want a cup of tea?’ I reply ‘No’ to get them out of the kitchen and out of my way, then they carry on regardless to make themselves a cup of tea, boiling their rapid boil kettle so you can hear sod all of the applaince you came to fix, then they keep stepping over you to get this that and the other out of the various cupboards, why do it when I turn up, half the lazy bar stewards are home all day anyhow. 👿
Now this one,Bear in mind that I have been PAYE for 4 years and stopped advertising for work as soon as I finished being self employed.
I was tucked in bed, asleep.
I had a phone call Sunday………………
At 4.45AM!
‘Is the shop open?’
What? Have you got the wrong number?
‘That is …………. Domestic Appliance Services?’
It used to be 4 years ago.
‘Well I saw your workshop lights on and thought you might be working?’ 😯
Look mate its nearly 5 in the morning, what the f*** do you want?
‘My Mrs tumble dryer has broken and wanted you to fix it’
Let me tell you, even if I still worked for myself, and even if I was in the workshop at 5 I wouldn’t do it, what the hell possesed you to call now?
‘Last time you fixed it, you said any problems, call anytime, so you should be more carefull saying things like that!’
I told him he was a retard and hung up, only for him to call again saying I was rude and ‘No wonder I gave up my business’ as I wasnt flexible! And my emergency call out was a con!!!! 😯 👿
WTF goes through these peoples heads??
If someone was being flooded, power outage or such like we used to offer an emergeny service, we got called out twice, both elderly customers and both genuine. If I can remember who he is, i’ll go round his house and wake him up or knock him out!! 😆 😆

I’ll check to see if I’ve got that capacitor on the van…’I won’t hold my breath then!’ 👿
I’ll have to order one , should be in by next Wednesday as its a friday at 5pm(3 days)…. ‘Oh! If it turns up at all.’ 😈
Monday morning 9am she rings to ask if I got it. 😈 😈

Try as I might I can never resist it when ordering, say a sump hose, customer says “how long will it be”, I hold my hands about 8 inches apart with a stupid grin on my face. 😆

Oh we had a topper today, just after Tony C called me about the parrot in Preston, but I’ll let him tell that one, anyway…
Old man goes to a call in Skelmorlie or up that neck of the woods to this insane (yes, hard to believe but true) CDA customer who lets him in to replace a compressor on a CDA FF. All well and good only she pops off to call all her friends after giving him grief about not having time to look at her bouncing washer (well it is a Siltal after all) whcih is in her own house.
So she pops off and DEADLOCKS the flat door shut, three stories up. CDA advice is to put a window in and make a quick escape, well bounding out a third floor window with a stack of fridge kit for the old fella, not going to go well methinks.
So we finally get crazy lady and she says, “I don’t know how I deadlocked the door shut, I didn’t mean to do that.” Yeah, right and there’s the rest of yoru squadron of pink mammals flying past. She was just hacked off that we didn’t do her washer for her.
But, revenge is an engineer’s best friend…
The old boy, 15 minutes in, needed something from the car to do the job and obviously couldn’t go get it due to being banged up in this luxury flat and, no I don’t know why CDA stuff was in a luxury flat. He was getting a bit peeved as the owner is abroad so there was no milk to get a cuppa either. Anyway, 50 minutes after this crazy lady reappears to be told that he’s off and, by the way, the fridge isn’t fixed and it won’t be today as we’d run out of time.
So she goes nuts as expected.
Didn’t call the office, as I had anticipated but I’m sure I’ll have her on the phone tomorrow.
But, little does she know that the homeowner is getting hit with a double abortive call charge for the wasted time and we won’t call back to fix her good friend’s fridge until the account is paid, in full.
I’d just love to her explaining that one away. 😉

Last week customer ordered an Ariston door boot I didn’t keep.
Ordered from Qualtex, shown as having them in stock. Order turned up TWO days later without the said boot. Now out of stock 👿
Customer rang over weekend so called him early Monday to tell him what had happened. Left message on ‘always on’ mobile :rolls: and he rang back later, having not got the message, with loads of we need the washer asap type stuff.
Told him I’d reordered the part somewhere else it would be in today (Connect). Bugger me that didn’t materialise, Connect picked it 28 hrs later according to their own info on the order 😯 .
Rang him tonight to let him know it would be in tomorrow and he says Ive had it sorted MATE.
I was flipping miffed I’ll say 😈 😈

Ah the parrot 😆
Went to an ISE today not taking conditioner, found out its being used twice a day and when I asked if she’d done the maintenance washes I banged on about when she bought it I found she’d done 1 in 16 months :haier: . Anyways I took the top off the machine and on the top of the tub was a strange brown bitty sludge. Ugh thinks I.
After puzzling out what it could be I remembered when I sold it them they had a parrot cage on top of the Fridge freezer next to the washer.
The answer now became obvious …….parrot s**t. Why they had the top off for any length of time is beyond me :eeek: I only presume the now ex parrot ( no Monty P please :rolls: ) came to an electrifying end in the ISE.Dogs eating door seals, parrots, is this a Preston ting 😕 .

Normally a nice easy job replacing Indesit/Ariston door handle kit 075323 , except the last two I’ve done the customer decides to have a go at super glueing the broken handle 😡 just to see if it would hold :rolls:.
It then becomes a bit of a pain getting the latch pin removed whilst being careful not to break the door frame and nobody ever admitts to attempting the super glue miracle , it just appears there by magic.
No big deal but someone very clever mentioned super glue in the public forums tonight and we could certainly be done without it on these handles.
