If the first job you go to is a standalone refridgerator that easily pulls out to do a repair and then you go to a second seperate job with a built in refridgerator that requires removal of a door and from a plinth (ie cupboard with base and kick plate), to do the same repair, do you get extra money from the manufacturer, work provider or insurer for the second job for the extra time to remove and reinstall the built in refigerator, .

    Do we heck.

Manufacturers charge on wholesale price nearly 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more on a built in machine. It is to the same specifiaction as a stand alone, yet has an unfinished effect as it will be hidden. i.e. Refrigeration with no lid or metal sides, D/Washer with a primed door, W/Machines the same and a tin lid. Yet despite this, we get the same money as freestanding.

MFI perhaps offer more than most, as all of theirs are built in. In the early days of the run of the mill manufacturers, it wasn’t too bad as most were stand alone, nowadays there are more & more built in.

Regards chargeable, we charge an extra £10 if we have to get it out.

Get this, one manufacturer charges £35 delivery to our premises of any new product we may wish to sell. The same manufacturer pays out on average less than £30 to the repair agent to send a fully qualified, experienced technician to actually carry out a repair. Therefore, a Luton van driver, that will be £35 please to drop off a box at a business premises on the day that suits them. When it goes wrong, we will get a lot less to send a CORGI registered tech 6 months later when the ffd has failed. An engineer who drove miles for a one off, had to fit in with customers demands, do all the safety tests, diagnose & repair fill out loads of paperwork, be a counsellor, and hope it doesn’t go wrong in 60 days, as he will be back on a recall.

There’s no justice in this world.

When they try to wangle a free call out.
We advertise no LOCAL call out charge and wer’e in Preston.
We ask where are you they say Preston.
When they give you the address its in another town 10 miles away.
‘But its got a Preston postcode’
BUT IT ISN’T LOCAL AT THAT DISTANCE IS IT

OR when they quote bits of your advert to you
‘ but it says same day call out available’ not after five in the afternoon!!

Just got to add one to the list – sure it has already been included. Had this one three times this week:

I’m sure its only something small & won’t cost much to fix – maybe its a just a fuse or a broken connection’

Sometimes, I really feel like telling the ‘know-all’ customers, if you know what the fault is, why don’t you fix it 😈

I just wanted to revive this topic, it’s brilliant!

I haven’t laughted this much for ages. Especially getting scoldng hot brews when your leaving, and having to move your tool box 5 times so they can make the brew.

And why do women insist on giving you a mobile number, they never turn on?

My brother works for Merloni (all spit on the floor now), so he has to fix Indeshits in the worse dives in the country. He’s had fleas 3 times now. It’s very sadly true!

    !

You leave the brew to cool down so it is pallatable, and she suddenly grabs the cup, says “Oh I bet that is cold by now”, then zaps it for 2 mins in the microwave.

Or go go around all day and don’t get offered anything, then when you get to a filthy pig-hole they offer you a coffee.

They give a mobile number and ask you to phone 20 mins before, and it turned off; or ask you to phone the home number 20 mins before. If they are there to answer the phone, they’re there to answer the door.

Why do they decide they must blitz the back of the machine with every conceivable chemical just as you get it out, and you want to access the back.

Why is it when you open the cupboard door under the sink to access the drain hose, being too short; there are 47 bottles of different makes of chemical that all do the same job. Time to sell her some “Bar-Keepers friend” I think.

I could go on all day.

Just don’t mention the Royal Family, Caravans, Pensioners who must go to Sainsburys or the Barbers on a Saturday a.m. Rover drivers, School Run, and Adverts in the middle of the Grand Prix coverage.

You ring the home number for directions, your out in the middle of nowhere, you’ve driven round for half an hour, theres no one to ask & no local shop so you’ve parked on the biggest hill you can find to get a signal and you’re greeted with “Welcome to BT answer 1571” because they’re either on the phone to the friend down the road or surfing t’internet while theyre sat at home waiting for you.

” The house name is by the front door ” yeah but its 1/2 a mile from the road
And you need a telescope to read it !!

That’s if theres a house name at all, you also get the odd “oh, must get the sign put back up”

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

    Today’s classic:-

“We are 200 yards from the Church”, but she neglected to say that the Church was in the centre of the village, and on a crossroads. Also that the 200 yards was as the crow flies, and then a road junction where you turn left and then right down a little lane.

Another famous one, back in the mid 80’s She asked the receptionist where we were coming from? Proceeded to give very precise directions from the town we are based right to her village. Starting with which supermarkets we had to pass getting out of town. Telling us which motorway junctions to join and leave, the A roads and B roads, all the landmarks along the main roads, what towns and villages to go through, practically every pub & garage, and then said, “When you get into the village, you will need to ask someone as I’m no good at directions” ?????

Transpired whe was the cottage with the red B.T. telephone box in the front garden, it was before mobiles, and I was in that bloody phone box asking her where do I find her; she then knocked on her front room window & waved whilst I was on the phone. I can still remember her name & address 20 odd years later.

    Silly Moo.

Yes, done exactly the same thing & waved to the customer from the phone box.

Had one a couple of years back where I rang someone from the van, explained where I was & the guy bascily gave me directions from the next town, went on for about 5 minutes & eventually he said “there’s no house name but at the moment, there’s a white service force van parked outside my house”

That would be me trying to find you then…

“can I give you a hand to get it out”

    “no thanks I’ll manage”

customer then procedes to ignore you and tries to help anyway. 🙄

thus trapping my fingers between skirting board and washer

then comes out with “sorry,I thought I was helping”.

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Reminds me of one where I went to do a call & the customer was a retired ‘engineer’. He started picking my screwdrivers & meter etc to do the job – had ask him ‘who is doing this me or you?’

Needless to say that wifey told him to let me get on with or it will cost even more to repair the damage already done by his previous messing around 😆
