I hope you charged a call out fee or at least a half price call out to cover your cost.
If you ordered the PCB and it is an older appliance I would at least want to charge the amount it has cost you even if you did not charge for your time,
If it is an older appliance you may not use the PCB and it ends up as a big loss on the job.
You should not be the one to loose out if you advised it is not a economical repair and the customer went ahead knowing you give a 3 months guarantee.
Still at least you have got shot of future problems with him.

We did get the call out charge on the first call but it’s only £20. TBH Bob I was more than happy to suffer the loss and jettison the b***ard.

Yes it is sometimes worth it to save all the aggro.
Try and come to one of the WTA meetings again as we haven’t seen you for a while.

A posh Customer says “I have a Siemens washing machine. Would you like me to spell it out for you?” *seriously, that what she said yesterday on the phone*
I think I can spell it and knows the difference between male’s emission and washing machine. But hey it’s white which could cause confusion!

Two of the buggers today.Went to a Hpt Condenser Monday needing a new back bearing and shaft kit . I’d just used the last one on the previous job so I said I can come back tomorrow with a new kit. They said better on Wednesday as we’re in all day. Arrived Wed 3pm – no answer – tried home phone no. (The one I’d been given) – no answer. Phoned me up at 5.30- ‘Why havent you called’.’Called at 3′ was my reply.’Wife must have been in the garden at the back.Can you come back tomorrow but were not in till 7pm.’Grrr machine is half stripped down to dry out the element and I’ve cleaned the condenser,pump,filter and all the channels at the back so I’ve time already on it or else I’d give them the sharp end of my tongue. 2nd one a Hpt WF420 ‘The start button is stuck in but I’m not in till 4.30’. Took a Complete fascia board (loads off scrappers)- turned out to be switch had fallen off and I replaced the selector board – 5 minutes of a job. When it came to paying was informed he had no cash and didnt have a cheque book and his wife had the cards can I come back tomorrow.Bloody Hell! Also had to go to Rochdale today – life’s too short for a trip to Rochdale.

Went to look at a washing machine in a house that was somewhat messy and smelly. The machine was freestanding in a utility room, not stuck in a gap in kitchen units so nice and accessible me thought. Customer says “I’ll leave you too it, please excuse the mess behind the machine it’s the cats”. Pulled the machine out expecting to find cat hairs etc., but oh no … this the customers cats regular crapping spot and there’s a massive pile of the stuff she expects me to work around. No offer to clean it out of the way for me. Disgusting 😡

You should have left.
Had a washer the other day, not draining, I get there, its a sh8t hole, she decided though to open the filter 5 mins before I arrive, no idea why, she seemed surprised that all the water flooded out.
So I’m faced with a knob head holding a crappy mop trying to clear up the lake and all its nice floating debris.
I left, haven’t been back, not going back, she couldn’t afford the amount I’d need to go back.

People that ask you to remove shoes and expect you to work on a machine in you’re socks. Don’t mind taking them off to get to appliance but after that no chance

A customer phoned me today.
Can you repair a three year old Beko fridge freezer.
I said I can call and see if it can be repaired and if it is repairable I can repair it.
I advised on my call charge and she replied it is only three years old I do not expect to pay to have a three year old fridge freezer repaired.
I advised her she would need to contact the company she purchased it from or Beko if she was unhappy it has only lasted Three years.
She replied I have already done that and been told it is out of guarantee so that is why I phoned you after seeing your good reviews on the internet.
I advised of my charges as It is out of Guarantee and she just said I think it should be repaired free of charge.
She then said I am fed up with all you people I just want it repaired and do not expect to have to pay to repair a three year old Fridge.
She then put the phone down.

Had one the other day… almost verbatim…
“I expect a washing machine costing £1000 to be able to wash nails, coins and whatever the hell else I choose put in it and not to pay for any damage that is caused and no, I will not check my pockets for such things”

No matter what intro I use to ask what is the problem with the appliance I still get people acting/talking as if their machine is the only one I’ve ever seen.
I wish it was because I look so young, but its not, I swear the next one who instead of telling me why they called us they insist on explaining how the thing works, I’m gonna tawt them with a spanner.
