Many thanks to all that have posted on here and the kit to fix the clicking etc has sorted my fridge freezer so cheers for that too.
But now my new problem has started after a few months of having the fridge work as it should the temp on the freezer is flashing and although the fridge says 2 degrees it is definately warmer especially noticed on my beers (so want that sorted for the summer) also it sounds noisier than before with a sort of whirring/humming sound, the fan is still working and the freezer still makes ice but with the wife being pregnant i dont want the food going off and making her ill.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks, DarrenApril 29, 2010 at 6:50 pm #142474nibbley-uk

No panic it was frozen up in the freezer so gave it a defrost and all temps are back at normal and all seems fine. Just in case it is the heater playing up could someone point me in the direction to where it is situated if it ever needs replacing.

Hi All
Hope you can help.
Have had same problem with clicking on fridge/frezzer but put up with it.
About 6 weeks ago display showed dashes, so got the kit from here to replace the caps. Done it and clicking gone and ice maker working fine.
Fridge and freezer were still not working correctly and found that cooling unit in aback of freezer was iced up solid. Defrosted and all was well for couple of weeks the unit was again block of ice. Freezer does not seem to be doing a defrost. Element is ok as I have tested what controls the defrost and can you manually turn it on to check it?
Any ideas would be greatThanks
Mike

I viewed this thread three years ago and at that time I replaced the front and back boards in my Whirlpool FF, S20BRBB20, 858615215001. Everything has been working … until now.
The fridge is not cold enough and the chilled water is not cold at all. I think the freezer is ok and I am not getting any strange noises or anything else.
I took the back panel off the freezer to check, but found no ice build up. The fan seems to be working. It goes off when I open the fridge and back on when I close it.
Could I be looking at another board replacement?
I have just realised that the part of the frame between the fridge and the freezer is really warm. I’m getting worried now. Should I turn it off?

It’s me again. I ordered the kit from UKWhitegoods and replaced the C1. I kept the back off and turned the fridge/freezer on. I noticed that the fan to the left of the back board is not turning.
I’m just wondering if the fan motor is faulty. Can anyone help me with this? should I just replace the rest of the caps and see if it works or could I need a new fan motor.
I have searched this thread till I am google eyed and can’t see any reference to which cap controls the fan.
I really would appreciate any info. Thanks.

Just reporting back in case it helps someone else.
I put all the new caps in and the motor fan still did not work. Got the fan tested and it worked, so I knew I didn’t need a new fan.
So I just bit the bullet and went this morning and got a complete new board and it worked. 😀 😀 😀

Sounds like the Orange Compressor relay may be latched on.
Test it out of circuit or just replace it – it is the most likely culpritMay 10, 2010 at 4:41 pm #142480broddersbaldrick

Justino What got to me was, the fact you published the ‘blown resistor’ issue and I scarcely got a mention.
I felt I deserved a little more credit for the hours helping you, not only pinpoint your fault from hundreds of miles away but, then helping you decide what component you should use.
I guess the fact you didn’t use the resistors I mentioned and you soldered yours in your fashion is neither here nor there.Brodders
What has got to me is your massive over reaction to a nothing issue. Everyone knows you are very knowledgeable, but why do you need to feel you have to be told so all the time??
I too was very grateful for your help, and thanked you accordingly privately on email, but you haven’t mentioned that. Perhaps you would set the record straight for others here.
I posted my experience not to take claim as you think, but to genuinely warn people not to make the same silly mistake. I was proud of my soldering skills, not the ability to trace the fault caused by my own lack of skill/patience. Hardly the actions of someone showing off.
I thought I had used the resistors you suggested and by your suggested method (I can’t be bothered to look at my old emails to confirm) so haven’t got a clue what you are on about now. Apologies for not blowing smoke up your ass every time I post on here.
The other bit I don’t get is why you thought I should tell everyone you were in Kuwait for 3 months?? It would have been very reckless of me to do so, but you have openly criticised me for not doing so, very strange.
You do a good job here, don’t spoil it by having a tantrum over nothing.

Welcome back Brodders. Hope you’ve had a nice break.
I am hoping someone on here can give me some advice on my S25BRSB31-A/G (8586 166 15020 / 11 0246 017517). I moved house a year ago and it was left by the previous owner.
Recently I had the problem with the temp alarms going off and found out about Brodders repair kit. It was worth a punt, but unfortunately didn’t solve my problems. I found that turning the ice maker off would keep the temp down and stop the alarms sounding. However, the fridge was still 15 degrees. I assumed the problem was deeper (or my soldering was bad) so I bought a new PCB off this site over the weekend. After about 20 hours, the temp has dropped to 10-11 degrees. Still not the 2-5 I was hoping for.
I think my FF is from 2002, but when I went to check the rear board it says 2007 on it, so I guess it’s been replaced before. By this logic, I didn’t purchase a new front PCB. The water dispensed was very warm before fitting the new board, but is very slightly cooler now. The fridge door also has trouble staying shut unless you give it a good shove.
Can anyone suggest anything that I can check myself, before I throw money at an engineer? Many thank yous in advance!

And Justino,
You joined in November, took the info posted here; blew your front module up at Christmas and now jump on Chezza’s bandwagon with the insults.
You weren’t so clever at christmas sticking a cap in back to front were you!
Then faced with 2 blown components that I told you to check, you asked me what to get.Yes blow smoke up etc etc because without the input from me and a few others, you and your soldering iron would have cost you £200.
Don’t get high and mighty with me because, you like the other bloke who suck up valuable information, have nothing to offer.
If you can’t respect those who help (for free) don’t post.
It’s amazing how many became experts over night!
