And it’s under scrutiny here apparently. 😉
K.Apparently so. But with good reason too i should imagine.
A brief history then.
Until recently I had no idea repaircare or 0800 or who ever else even existed. I went on holiday to the states and that kind of thig is huge over there and to my knowledge no one was really doing it over here so when i got back i decided to give it a go. No experience or prior knowledge of the industry at all.
Since then i have of course seen that others are doing a similar thing. Still, we started in May 2011, started trading properly as of June 2011. It was just me, a mobile phone, an 0845 divert and a domain name. And the bedroom in my flat.
Then, month on month we started to see decent growth and so i thought i’d give it a real push. 10 months later we have a small call centre in our own building, a few nice contracts and now this agreement with comet. We currently deal with some of comets email web inquiries and from Tuesday we will be handling some of their sales calls too which should double our sales.
We operate using sub-contractors nationally except London and Essex where we have an engineer in each working direct.
All our jobs are paid repair work and we do not get involved in insurance or warranty work.
As stupid as it sounds we have been really on the backfoot the entire time due to growing too quickly. I started in May 2011 with a budget of £200 (my last weeks wages from my previous job) and despite doing far better than expected it’s been difficult to manage the growth, especially accounts wise but we are finally getting there as i’m finally getting enough staff on board to cope.
I hope that clears things up a little.

Of course our site has all the usual waffle. Established just reassures people that you are legit. It’s rather ambiguous, i know.
Our phones are manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and we do aim for 90 minute response, although this is only achieved in areas we have multiple engineers.
Engineers get paid for call outs regardless of whether or not we get paid. We aim to make money on job quantity so loosing a little on a few jobs to keep customers as happy as possible is a necessary evil as far as we are concerned.

Ok, we are Go local, we are not comet. Our website ( http://www.go-localuk.co.uk ) has all the relevant info on. I assume you only looked at one site (that i said above is not finished and not used by us currently). We work with a fair few wta and ukw members and among those members there is a varied and colourful view of us. We’ve only been in business since May 2011 and as a young company we are still finding our feet but There is nothing dodgy.
Everything is pretty manic at the moment and it will only get worse come tuesday when we get the first lot of diverts from comet so at the moment all we want to do is just gather some names of engineers that are interested and next week we will contact everyone and go over things.

Hi
Have you got enough pressure to the valve as the valves need pressure to turn off fully.

KeymasterRe: Go Local
Sorry if i didnt answer your related question in the comet thread.
We certainly are a lot better now. Honestly, its not perfect yet but it will come. Everyone gets paid but again being honest, not everyone is always paid on time. This is an organisational thing and we are getting better with it as we get more admin staff and more experience. Our problem has been our sales have grown so rappidly that its been impossile to keep up with the paperwork. We didnt expect it to go this way so we are always on the backfoot. We have new staff starting every month at the moment so we’ll get there.

Keymastersamsung RL37LGIH1 question
Hi
Yes 2 year warranty but samsung was extending the non cooling side upto 5 years. Not including the compressors which are useless.the extension may have covered your model but I would push for that anyway

Hi jim
Credit is given when earned. I don’t get paid till its completed so credit is given. Haven’t had a problem yet but you have to take a chance.. How many engineers are screwed by landlords.

KeymasterRe: comet
It is the chargeable work only we are doing. Customers will be made aware that they are talking to Go Local and we will price them at our rates, not comets. Same goes for policy, nothing D&G, everything Go Local. The only thing we have to do is mirror comets opening hours. I’d prefer not to discuss the costs involved.
