Has it got the modification fuse board fitted at the rear ? Did you separate the heaters before testing them ?
How long before the ice/ frost build up again ?

Check the defrost heater,And or the heater plug as they tend to come out.

that’s what I thought but no joy when I put the wires on the relay

It will more likely require a replacement evaporator cover,At the same time it is advisable
To change the defrost heater and also the defrost sensor.Bryan

The fault will be on the heater or thermal fuse.
How did you test them ?Did you disconnect them from each other before test ?
And don’t start making extra holes in the eval cover as it doesn’t work and not needed.
