KeymasterRe: A Vision of the Future?
Thinking traditionally is how the manufacturers think Ken. When it comes to letting another party do the work for them and take the responsibility for the social welfare of the employees, their cheque book takes over. We are both aware of the costs involved to do manufacturer service and the low rewards on offer…….. can’t see them altering the pay structure.
However, Mr P has the right idea and when we have the system in place and the network unified and the independents all singing from the same song sheet……well it will have to change.
RS is correct in the differential rates on offer across the country though.

KeymasterRe: A Vision of the Future?
On the subject of free spares for Manufacturer work….
Its great to think that we could carry the top 25 or 50 but we can’t whilst the manufacturers keep changing the specs on the spares.Whilst we all know of a couple of interchangeable bits, none of us can carry one module fits all etc..
One manufacturer in order to improve 1st time fix rate is going down this road. Free van stock for the engineers, but every single bit of kit will be logged and listed against the engineer, to prevent fiddling. Its a trust thing.. whilst they trust you to do the work they don’t trust you to not fiddle. The thinking behind this is that the present van stocks are so out of date that 1st time fix on ig repairs is poor, irrespective of what the monthly figures show. Because the engineer can not afford to invest into modern stock, he ends up with two trips, no profit, no business. And another firm has gone to the wall. So free spares will only happen to specific engineers, those who do one brand, will be tightly controlled and the onus will be on the engineer to prove he used it to get a replacement, through his computorised job sheet. So it seems good, but where will it end if every appliance(even in 1 brand) has a different timer, bearings, seal…etc, etc.sooner or later you end up with a trailer behind your transit(where else can you keep 6 wma drum kits). The present engineers have to store at home(free of charge to their employer) so I’m told.
The answer is at the moment that we should not jump in with both feet with any manufacturer. We here are quite capable of reading a contract and filtering out the rubbish and restrictive parts to it. So lets just do that. Lets agree to share all info and debate whats offered to one or all.
After all you might just believe that a manufacturer that can improve the 1st time fix rate has good reason to pay less NOT more per completed call. And using the vehicle of free spares to complete jobs is a cynical way of doing it.

KeymasterRe: Flying Toolbox To Cease!
Its my understanding that Flyingtoolbox in its present format has ceased, but customers who contact D&G for a repair will be steered toward Manufacturer service, did ask if we could receive it… 😆

Thanks for that Dave,
I’d like to try the glue. If you let me know how to get it, that would be great. I tried a 150 deg.C Araldite but it did not stick to the glass.John

KeymasterRe: Hygena ADP 8224… the naming of the parts
Many thanks.. that was it!
Because we’ve been using tablets (that may change having read the posts/FAQs on here) and the dispenser on the Hygena isn’t big enough to take a tablet, that door has been open for months so I never saw it!
D’Oh!
Anyhow… should all be fine now, thanks again!

KeymasterHi Martin et al
What is your view on the BOSCH WTL6106? It’s slightly over my budget (it’s currently available for £325 on various sites).
On that budget would you look at anything else?
Thanks

KeymasterRe: Zanussi Condenser TC 470 not drying
After reading about the condenser fan conversion kit mentioned earlier in this thread, I’ve just fitted one to my own TC470, which had an appetite for fan belts, having consumed two in the last year or so, and just about to finish off it’s third.
Fairly simple to do. Bolt on another motor start capacitor to the bottom frame. Fit the supplied wires into the connectors already present (most just push in but one of them needs the original wire cutting and a new terminal crimped on), and fit the new condensor fan and housing.
Took about 40 minutes all in, half of which was double checking my work against the instructions supplied, which are written in such a way that I was never absolutely certain that I had understood them correctly!
Fitted a new rear bearing at the same time, and the result is that the machine is now a fair bit quieter than before, with no squeal from the belt whenever the drum reverses direction, and no more having to pull the machine out to refit the belt each time it falls off.
Parts cost was about £100 in total (including the bearing), which is cheaper than a new machine, but would pay for a fair few replacement belts. Hopefully it’ll be a lot more reliable now.

KeymasterRe: Bosch WFR2460 Maxx-it problem – help please?
Hi….
Just wanted to say I fitted a replacement board (140 all in) from Bocsh directly. 😯
Well thankfully all is now fine. So thanks for the replys, I did check my warrenty BTW but my machine was just 3 years old (I must have bought it when it first came out). …I bought Bosch thinking I would have worry free washing…oh well, at least I was able to do it myself and save a few quid.
Cheers,Craig

KeymasterRe: Indesit WE 165
Dave, Martin,
Thanks for your help.
As an electronics engineer…… If I could get the cover off, identify the part no of the relay and it’s not a muti-track board, I have the skills and the equipment to replace myself… but perhaps I’ll let QER do it.

KeymasterRe: Indesit WE 16SUK
Dave,
I have checked all connections to the control board and the heater element and all appear fine as is the heater element itself. Put it back together and she worked fine for 3 washes and then failed again with the F08 error.
Took it on myself to put a meter in circuit to check the operation of the heater relay and 4 out of the five times I started the wash cycle it was ok. The one time it failed and gave the F08 there was no voltage to the heater. So could be the relay or possibly the thermostat control.I wanted to check both but “how do you get the circuit board out of the plastic cover”? It looks simple but was being a pain last night so I put it all back together.
It has done four “proper washes” since then and has been fine (the machine has been left switched on) but I have no confidence it it being permanently resolved.
I have browsed the net and foun QER who can test and repair control boards. Are they reliable? Cause it would be lot less than a new one.
Board Ref is 215007042.02
Thanks
Ray D
