If it’s only the outer shell cracked then basically it’s trim, and therefore doesn’t affect the functional integrity of the appliance. try aralditing the component.clean thoroughly with meths,cottonbuds/tissue etc. araldite will NOT bond to dirty/greasy surfaces.also, more is NOT better. a thin coating to the cracked edges, draw them together(tape/elastic bands/string etc. allow to harden 24 hrs. most plastic parts can be reclaimed like this. as this is a recurring prob. I suspect that the moulding is a duff design with built -in tension stresses that cause it to split but the cynic says they’ll never admit it you clumsy,heavy-handed door-slammer, you!

have a look in the Directories section for a UKW engineer in your area, or pop your postcode up and someone will pick up on it.

OK, thanks. I’m in Cambridge (CB4) – which doesn’t seem to be covered in the Directories section.

Re: Siemens freezer – clicks and doesn’t cool

thanks very much. I’ll certainly check the warranty. I guess there’s no particular reason the compressor should fail to start immediately after a power cut?

    Hi Phil fish
Yeah the blk tube was clear and I can only guess that the timer board is ok as the timer rotates and wants to operate the valves etc. The pump is workingbut I didn’t want to put any water in just in case it didn’t empty also as the door lock is not working I can open the door so I didn’t want to flood the floor as wife would get upset.

    Re: Spin failure

    Hi guys
Just got the door interlock fitted but still no spin. The door interlock is still not working only appears on intermittently the door can be opened at any time even when the door light is illluminated.
Checked brushes and connects on drum motor and appear ok but no spin at all even when on tumble for wash cycle.
Checked the resistance of the old switch and approx 800 ohmns across 2 terms and o/c on 2 terms.
    Any more ideas guys?????
I’ve got some pics of the timer board if anyone needs to see where the damaged tracks are.
    Roy
PS Thanks Dave for the prompt parts service but arrived the day we set off for a weeks hols hence delay in fitting.

    Re: Missed A Bit

Don’t know why….but it sounds familiar.

I know where I heard it….septics are interested in forging closer links with Dasa. Must be excellent news for dasa members that such highly regarded people want closer links.

Seriously, only bit missing is that cause I did the dirty on them they refused to buy back any spares from me. Thats £70,000 worth. So if septics knocks on your door make sure you have a buy back clause, and good luck.

    Re: DASA II

Interesting that there are so few replies to this rs….

However the fate of Dasa is in their own hands and apart from Mr Chairman, only a few of those hands are capable…

Best left alone to chew over the recommendations and sort out themselves, and whilst I have had my say its a shame that whilst some talk behind your back they don’t have the backbone to reply…..in here.

Ps some of them wont even join UKW…what does that tell you.

Re: A Vision of the Future?

In many ways its not our question to answer at this point in time…..

    May I……

There will always be sales of appliances, for the forseeable future washers ain’t going to change that much, a cooker will keep the basic format for many years to come…

So why are we debating what the Manufacturers are going to do….Why are we wasting ink on the subject?

What we need to do is organise ourselves, to educate and instruct, to advise and prosper the independents. The Trade Association we have can’t do this, it does not represent the trade. So UKW has to become the vehicle to move intergration to the next level and then the next and the next……
We don’t have to be an association to do it. We don’t need a chairman or to join a union, all we need to do is relax a little. UKW is evolving because of the input from its members, its going in the right direction, we have people tuning in to see whats going on rather than trying to tell them, we are open for business worldwide 24 hours a day.

So what has to change is as independents we need a universal instant reporting system that we all use….one that updates our system and produces invoices for us, one that updates the wp and involves an engineers diary and sat-nav and links to spares databases…one that we evolve and commission, and all use.

So that said, will put us in the postion of what?????

Well, if Mr P’s vision is to come true then we have to be prepared to invest in our futures, we have to start thinking that from January 2006 we will all switch to the system under development within UKW. So dont buy that new technology just yet….hold off buying the latest computer….instead come to UKW meeting NO 5 and see if you are prepared to invest and become a member of “Network UKW”

Then if a manufacturer wants some work doing, we can help but on our terms and conditions. This is not blackmail….this is business….and we are getting serious about it.

    Re: UKW…The future?

I can only back up what kwatt has said. We are in front of you Martin, we are doing things in the background, we already talk to certain people and have the ear of some influential people. However this takes time, but seeing as you are so keen I do have a project for you and Mr P and I will present this to you and Chris soon.
It will be an industry 1st for independents and will be hugely influential in the future of this industry.

However, patience is the key and one rung at a time is always best.

    Kevin

PS if its worth doing well, UKW wants to do it brilliantly.

    Re: Bradshaw Group

As you are a Dasa member….are Dasa willing to negotiate for you with Bradshaws as the Trade Association. Have you asked for their help in ensuring this does not go legal.

However if you have a case against them it will cost the best part of £600.00 to get proper legal assesment. This you should do asap. You should then assess that the claim for 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of your legal cost can be achieved by your defence/claim….if not then way up wether paying in full or defending is the cheaper option. Sorry to be matter of fact, but having been in this position recently with another work provider and having no resourses to defend( the legal costs to defend would have crippled me), there no room for feelings.

Whatever the position you take, this company get all the bad publicity and of course it can be reported on quite legitimatly as a news item on the front page for all the trade to read and draw their own conclusions.
