Re: Hotpoint washing machine – Size of problem

❓ I have just bought one of these (Hotpoint WF840) and after installing it, it seems to use no hot water. Checked all the obvious… yes we have hot water, its turned on, and it comes out of the machine end of the hose. Is this normal for this model?? Nothing was said at sale time about it being cold fill and in the instruction manual it talks about the “hot water temp must not be over 60 degrees”, “If you want to use it cold fill only you must buy an adapter” … etc.
    Any advice greatfully received.
    Thanks.

    Re: Ariston AWD12 Spin fault

Thanks guys, I did what kheath suggested and there is indeed a lot more movement when one of the paddles is at the bottom.

This machine is still under parts warranty and Ariston’s call out charge is £80. Is this a good deal for the work required to replace the drum support or am I better looking for a local solution?

    Thanks

Re: Indesit WE12 F05 fault code

Thanks! great site! Our indesit WE10 wasn’t working and we had a potentially expensive call-out booked. I opened the water pump and found a 1 pence, 4 5 pence pieces, a hair grip and a hair band!

    Re: Smeg DWF 64 Fault

Sorry – my mistake, reading it again it’s clear, just me being a bit dim . OK managed to get the lights to light up (took a few goes), restarted the thing and ….. back to original problem, thing just halts with L1 and L2 lit.

Time to call the service people 🙁 If it does need a new PCB any idea how much it should cost to fix ?

Thanks for all your help – much appreciated.

    Re: Ariston AWD12 Spin fault

    hi,

try turning each of the stainless drum paddles to the bottom position(6 oclock) and pull the inner stainless toward you…do this in turn for all three drum paddle positions….

If you have a badly cracked paddle there is sometimes excessive movement toward you as compared two the other two…

Beware of ordering parts to DIY it. Measure the rear bearing(inner diameter) theres a choice occasionally as production changes are the norm for this manufacturer.

You should also stop using the appliance until the cause of the noise is cured.

    Re: Smeg DWF 64 Fault

    Dave,
thanks for the help so far – tried to follow the instructions below but our washer doesn’t have a “close door instruction” as far as I’m aware (no mention of it in manual either).

Anyway – did everything else, and basically after pressing the start button twice all four indicator lights flash. Now when I restart he thing it begins the program, but then halts again with a different error being indicated 🙁 This time the three right most lights (No 2, No 3 and No 4) are illuminated…..Once again a combinatgion not listed in the manual.. Any ideas what could be wrong this time ?

    hiya jp.

no-one will dispute “spreading your risk” but whats the point of that if you do not get paid “in full and on time”

Fuck that for a game of soldiers….

There are many things to consider and Del’s points are very valid.

Rates need to improve as do payment terms. The management at the top has changed and they have said so will the work ethics this I have been told is in the process, we need to wait and see. But I dont believe in burning any bridges, you never know what the future holds.

It too like Kevin cost me a lot of money in solicitors fees and likewise many sleepless nights as Kevin knows. But I personnally put all this down to one person being in control of two other directors, so he always got his way. Now this person has been removed so have many of my fears BUT bridges still need to be built by NESN and its new management.

CDSL it turning out to be a very good contract for many people , but one thing that we all need to be careful of is too many eggs in one basket. I like others have been caught this way in the past and it is better to be able to dilute your risk with any one work provider slightly so that they dont become too larger proportion of your business.
