Re: Bosch SMS6032gb/14 stops washing – help please

thanks for the advice Martin 😀

Ok, i drained all the water out and cleaned up everything around the 3 slats(didnt seem to be a blockage). Switched it onto the prerinse cold and it finished fine – opened it up and it has some water in it, not loads as before, just enough to cover the fliter…?

So, drained the water and put it on the economy 55c wash. Its just finished and…… Its fine!!! No water, sparkly clean!!!! But for how long?

Is the pump on the way out?? I have this image from Bosch – https://quickfinder.consultens.com/qf32 … 912877.tif Which part is it and can a reasonable diy-er fit it?? (with the mains disconnected 😉 )

Re: Servis M785 Fridge drain freezing up causing puddles

looks like I may be onto solving my own problem, I had to find out what was happening to the plastic bit that the drain attaches to, thought about drilling a slightly larger drain hole but didn’t like the potential for it to go wrong so I used a new blade stanley knife. I carefully enlarged the drain hole in the fridge to a size that my little finger just almost fits into (almost gets stuck in there too, lol), anyway I found that the plastic bit is in fact a mini funnel shape and that there looks to be nothing wrong with it. I don’t think I have altered anything so I am going to leave it for now and see how it goes, I can now see alot more and will be able to tell where the problem is and the slightly larger hole will allow easy fixing of a blocked drain.

    Any more ideas from anyone?

Re: Servis M785 Fridge drain freezing up causing puddles

took the plunge and took the fridge out of the cupboard. Carefully unscrewed the top of the coils so I could get in and have a look, unfortunatly the coils are connected at both sides so it will only move away a few inches. Anyhow the drain pipe is a clear tube that enters the back of the fridge through the insulation but it is not heavily covered, in fact it looks like there is a small plastic cover or attachment(is that what is refered to as a ferrule?) that forms a collection area that is attached to the the main fridge wall that has a drain hole drilled in it. had a good look and everything looks sound enough, does not look like it has a bad seal but I do only have limited viewing though. I can get my hand in and I felt the insulation around the plastic bit that the pipe attaches to and its dry, I even blasted some water through it after thawing it out. one thing I noticed is that the plastic bit that the pipe attaches to is a little larger in diameter to the pipe, this forms a little ledge of about 1mm that a water drop or little piece of ice cold rest on, I think this may be the cause as it then freezes up and just gets worse.

One fix I thought of was to somehow attach something metal to the warm/hot coils that fits closely to the drain and therfore carries heat to the drain, it maybe will be enough to stop it freezing.

Note: the drain is in the fridge section and is no where near the inlet/outlet of the pipework

ok, what about getting a length of tube that fits inside the drain hole/pipe and silicone sealing it into place so that it is just proud of the current drain hole but not so much that it is higher than the little trough can hold (about 1mm proud), water will then still be able to flow down the drain without soaking the foam.

Dave, it all seems to be okay now.

There remains a little warmth on the inside back wall of the fridge – about half way down, but this may be normal.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: Ariston Convection Oven

    Thanks Dave,

Unfortunately the Oven is rather old, plus I was away from home for 4 years and have lost trace of where the manual was placed…. I have a serial number but I guess that’s not any help. Is there some way I can find the model number? Ariston’s website is not any help.

Re: hoover performa 1100 washing machine

    thanks martin..
when you say “£120 (inclusive)” do you mean incluisive of VAT or inclusive of labour charges too?
do you think the hot glass thing ‘could’ make the repair cost more expensive?

im trying to figure out whether its gonna be worth my while to get it fixed or just to buy a new one..

any tips on good new washing machines would be fantastic!
(the cheapest i’ve found is a tricity bendix aw1000 at £199 but i dont know if its any good!)

    thanks again..

    Re: Smeg DWF 64 Fault

    Hi,
once again thanks for all your help – I’ve now booked a service call with “careys” (found them in the directories section under my postcode). Will report on diagnosis once made so perhaps it can be of future use/reference.

Note that I appear to have “enhanced” the problem now, in that as soon as I turn the thing on now it appears to be stuck in a “pumping out” mode 🙁 Tried the rest PCB trick and everything., but is constantly pumping out and I can’t stop it ….

Re: Hotpoint washing machine – Size of problem

😈 We have even tried a 95 degree wash (“clean cycle”) and it still only took in cold. It did heat up to 95 mind you, as the door glass was too hot to touch.
I contacted Hotpoint who told me that it was realy cold fill but may use enough hot water to rinse out the soap tray on the wash part of the cycle. This doesn’t seem right to me as I have a hot water tank upstairs that has been heated by a very efficient gas boiler and I am having to heat up cold water by electricity as well!?! I thought the energy efficiency meant that it would use whatever it could get, hot water wise, and just tweak it as little as possible.
Am I expecting too much from this then??
Also the instalation instructions don’t say anywhere that we don’t need a hot supply and that we should make sure that the pipes are connected the right way round. A lady on the Hotpoint servicedesk suggested we swap over the pipes to see if it would then use the hot water!!! Hmm lovely hot washing at the end of the cycle …. I don’t think so!!!!

So I suppose what I am ultimately asking is … is this a faulty machine or is it working as designed??

Thanks for your swift responses on this.
