    Re: OFT Advert In ERT

    Hi

Can’t believe this.. I’ve just had a call for another one. A Swan machine from a catalogue company. She wants a report because it has never spun fast enough according to her and now the bearings are shot.

It is worth staying clear of these?

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi Martin

Must have did. She said that she called me to let me know in case I got a call from them. Still, all seemed a little vague to give a customer a new appliance at £200.

    Hi…

I went to a call last week where the customer had one of those HEC machines that they get from Argos. It was 5 years old and the drum had split at the lifter.

They paid £190 for the machine and I told them replace it rather than repair as it was in a poor state.

This morning she phoned me to say that Argos had replaced the machine (Indesit) due to it being less than 6 years old and the fault not be the user’s. No paper work, no other evidence supplied??

Never heard of this before and thought that surely this could open flood gates for others to follow?

Re: COST OF CALL DIVERT TO MOBILE

    Hi

I use a company called TTNC (VOIP). I buy numbers at £25 + vat then they are mine for good no matter where I move. You pay per minute after that. Because I have no line rental, it works out cheaper and more flexible for me. I go through about £30 a month then about £25 on my mobile.

It records messages and if you can get your emails on your phone, you can listen to the messages for free.

I border two different phone codes so have a number for each area which both go through to my mobile. The local number seems to attract customers who want someone nearby.

You can divert the calls to any number whether it be a landline or mobile at no extra cost.

Hope this is of some help…

    Re: door seal clamp/spring

Small F clamps such as Axminster ones are great. Sometimes I even use two. They can tightened right up so that the pressure of the spring being fitted doesn’t pop the clamp off. Also on fagor and samsung machines, they’re great for supporting the bottom of the ring while its fed into the right position before tightening.

Re: indesit be aware this fault

Had this on quite a few of the newer hotpoints and indesits. Have also found that a damaged cable to or a poor connection to the wash NTC can also do the same thing. Also made the mistake of changing the pcb on the first one I came accross.

    Re: Washing machine rentals.

    Hi Mike

I used to recon about 80 wms a week. I had a few customers who used to take whatever we didn’t get through. One of them used to work for a business who had about 2000 wms out on rental and according to him had a device that was readily available to cut machines off from outside the building.

He said that as soon as you cut them off, they would be straight on the phone complaining that the wm did’t work!

I’ll give him a call tomorrow morning and find out a bit more if it helps….

    Re: Hotpoint WDD960

    Hi

Sorry for the delay in the reply….

Sent the board back…came back to me repaired as it had a fault that was missed….. so back to the customer again and this time it didn’t even switch on. Didn’t send it back and just asked for another….. Saturday evening 7pm…Bingo!! it worked. 4 visits for £45!! and a crap weekend.

As ever, EMW were as helpful as always in helping out.

Got a Hpt Aqualtis with steam function tomorrow with what sounds to be a knackered board…can’t wait!!

PS.. thats for all the help.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply… Refurb from EMW. That was my first thought as well but I’ve never had one that let me down yet. Going to go back tomorrow with another motor just in case, failing that I’ll have to send it back to be tested.

    thanks again…Dave

    Hi Jim

    Really appreciate it.

I think my next problem isn’t going to be a washer. My van limped home today with what looks like a problem with the injectors.

    Thanks again

    Dave
