Including me. Very good and very professional in every way.

I was going to mention it in the public or trade areas, but wondered if you had sent it out to the members first as a trial run.

I’m watching the daily numbers of new applicants, so far no noticeable increase, but may change over the course of a week.

    Re: Clearance Stock

We have been having a major clear out and would like to find a good home for some fairly up to date Merloni parts. Indesit/Ariston, not Hotpoint. We would like to find a good home for some Candy/Hoover bits as well. Mainly motors, timers & modules.

As regards the Indesit/Ariston, I’m prepared to let it go 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} below the cheapest trade prices. This is mainly timers, motors modules etc. All less than 3 years old, and still boxed. The Candy stuff, make a silly offer. I won’t even bother to price the Candy stuff, just an offer will do. No picking & choosing though, has to be a job lot. I may be able to deliver.

I will p.m. the listings, or put them here if preferred, better for me than e-mail as I’m away from my office p.c. for a while.

    Re: Belling parts

    Thanks guys.

As it happened we had the element in stock. Electrue/Connect don’t even recognise the part number of the timer. The old Wash-Vac system did have a bigger coverage of Belling spares, but I suspect Belling has changed a bit in the last year or two.

The timer depends on diagnosis when we get there. Just being cautious prior to the visit. Customers prefer us not to take their money and then tell them we cannot source the part, so we usually test the water 1st when met with a different model number.

Might take up the timer offer if needed.

    Looks like I’ve put 2 & 2 together & came up with 5.

It seemed locical that the 2 were related at the time. Perhaps if we in the WR knew a little more we wouldn’t speculate.

    Just a thought.

    Re: Training (TWR)

May not be a good idea to go totally public until you have a few good candidates for the post of trainers. You could perhaps put a bit into the public domain, just saying things are moving apace, and maybe thank the support you are gettting from the likes of Lux, MFI CDSL etc.. You could be a little more generous in the quantity and information you want to give out in the subscribers forum.

I had a phone call from one prospective candidate asking what was it all about, and I think that a little bit of mystery would help. However, if you can display that we are serious, and this is going to happen; that will perhaps raise the quality of the applicants. There could be some out there who are better than we realise, and we need to demonstrate that we have the package that would attract such talent.

    Exciting times I suspect.

    Keep the aspidistra flying.

Been looking for the story where they brought them back 3 days later.

Maybe our loss is Johnny Foreigner’s gain.

I HATE them with a passion now just cause of what one guy that is totally clueless has done over the past two years and I’m trying really hard to restrain myself from openly saying so.
    K.

Well if you aint going to name Manoj Aggawhal, let me have the pleasure.

I hate the bastards with a vengeance, but took the decision that my protest was totally hollow. Brandt don’t give a toss who does the work, they’ve passed it to CDSL & it is their problem. I’ve just looked at my CDSL account, in 7 Months they are my 4th highest revenue stream.

I told R.F. it was under duress that we do this crap, and one little bit of piss-aasing around from Brandt, & I’m off! To be fair to CDSL all I would end up doing is tarnishing their reputation a little bit, but I won’t let Brandt try it on again. Such antics as sending thier own technician to some of the calls whilst we were awaiting tech advice etc.

The theory is, all will look dandy with CDSL in this area until Brandt pulls one of it’s stunts, and believe me I’m waiting.

I’ve not had a chargeable call at all, and all the calls have been “in guarantee”, (all 4 of them), so is this universal across members of this forum who do the work?
    Kevin

Same here. I assume when you say the work has dried up, I take it you mean the volumes of Brandt as a whole. I’ve had a damn sight more than 4 Brandt calls though. We are getting about 10 per week. Bloody shite!!

Not happy as I told R.F. I was not doing it, but workloads are dead, so we need the calls.

We are not getting any chargeable calls either, so I may well initiate a little exercise asking customers how old the product is; and if over 12 months, have they made payment arrangements with the call booking team when they made the initial call? I’ll give them some tale that we don’t want to make the mistake of trying to charge again.

Will come back on that one.

    Re: LG Washing machine vibration

This is a problem we are having to bear, web based statements as below doesn’t help the situation though.

    http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache … _drive.htm

We had a case today where a machine has been trouble free until the customer moved house. Moved from a 4 bed house on a new estate where the machine was in the garage, to a 1930’s house with a wooden suspended floor.

Just travel around mainland Europe, and all laundry products are in the utility, basement or wash room, not shoehorned into a kitchen unit. We the Brits are unique in insisting the washing is done alongside the cooking.

It is damn accurate, maybe needs to be written in the “third person”.

Love the analogy with the fluorescent lamp compared to the tungsten filament bulb. in essence, the customer is energy as well as cost driven, and then finds it appropriate to bemoan their choice.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time.

Assume the “bouncing LG” has driven you to this?

At that age, probably his last.

I recall once where a customer brought into us a wet & dry cleaner. The fault was due to the pump airlocking, and we cleared the air lock whilst he went up town shopping. At the same time we looked in the base and gave it a bit of a clean over, as well as ensuring all was well.

We charged £10 + vat. He came back an hour later and picked up the cleaner and paid honey sweet. An little while later he phoned up telling us he was cancelling the cheque. Reason being; it stated in his instruction book that should the machine develop certain symptoms, there may be an air lock. The booklet then goes on to advise, follow this procedure etc. etc. He felt that we should have pointed this out to him at the time he passed the product over the counter for repair, and we in effect had “ripped him off”. I told him that his bank would charge him £12 + for the privilege of cancelling the payment, and; Sir, get stuffed!! Needless to say I heard no more.

He was an ex school teacher of mine, and I’d waited over 30 years to tell him that. The pleasure was worth the loss of that customer I can tell you, as he made it quite clear during my school years I was going nowhere.

Who said he was right? Come on, someone did, I heard it!!

Can I nominate Junctions 13 to 23 south-bound M5 Friday p.m. and Saturday a.m. The cause is a 3 mile uphill drag up from Gordano Services at Avonmouth to the split level section. A crawler lane is now being constructed.

I often go northbound on a Saturday a.m. and the queues on the other side will be from Weston-Super-Mare to Michael Wood services.

2nd prize. M5 to M6 split, either direction at Junctions 1/8. Better since the new toll road, but not a lot.

Not related to the above, but useful advice if you are crossing the pond and into
    the wilderness.

The California/Oregon State Department of Fish and Wildlife is advising
hikers, hunters, fishermen, and golfers to take extra precautions and
be on the alert for bears while in the Truckee, Kirkwood, and Yosemite
areas. They advise people to wear noise-producing devices such as
little bells on their clothing to alert but not startle the bears unexpectedly.
They also advise you to carry pepper spray in case of an encounter
    with a bear.

It is also a good idea to watch for signs of bear activity. People
should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and
    grizzly bear droppings.

Black bear droppings are smaller and contain berries and possibly
    squirrel fur.

Grizzly bear droppings have little bells in them and smell like pepper.

You needed to know that I’m sure.

Door lock, situated to the right of the door seal, accessible from the front. Ensure it is unplugged before you investigate.
