    Re: Zan Dishwasher DES959

The water pressure has a bearing on these. If to high problems still prevail.

There is a modified inlet system to compliment the IWMS kit, depending how many valves on the IWMS and product numbers etc. The inlet kit though doesn’t work if the water pressure is low.

Age is another criteria on these, and if less than 2 years, they may qualify for a discount on parts.

Try London Pride Abbots Ale, Theakstons Peculiar or Old Speckled Hen. All of these are better for not being too cold. 14 Deg C is the optimum temperatures for these ales.

Joking aside, you need any goods to be in the fridge for a good 6 hours before you can expect any liquid temperature changes relating to the mass.

    Give it time

And they had the temerity to postpone their last meeting so some could attend the NESN meeting instead.

If they have any common decency and by means of respect for this site, they should do the same again. Lets see if they can do that small thing, I would say there are enough members affected by that move to warrant another rescheduling.

    Politics I’m afraid.

Most makers put flyers inside the products endorsing an insurance/warranty scheme, usually D&G. If they, D&G decide to make a big thing about passing work to what they deem to be a better work provider, (the likes of most of us); they will no doubt lose one of the best methods of promoting their services.

Things are the complicated by any 5 year parts guarantee such as Gias and Hotperloni.

We know we can give a far higher level of service, and of course so do the insurance companies, but they are held to ransom by sales.

It looks like that RETRA may have been approached by Merloni.

Being a member of RETRA I’ve had the same general letter in my mail today. So I must assume desperate measures apply here.

I think Rudi may have a point that Merloni has not chosen to approach in a direct manner those that once upon a time were respected and good enough to carry out the work in the past.

I rest my case, not only that I’ve moved on and no way do I want to go there again.

farker wrote:ok, what about getting a length of tube that fits inside the drain hole/pipe and silicone sealing it into place so that it is just proud of the current drain hole but not so much that it is higher than the little trough can hold (about 1mm proud), water will then still be able to flow down the drain without soaking the foam.

Thing is, if the insulation has already become saturated, then by sealing the outlet pipe all you will do is in effect, “shut the stable door after the horse has bolted”. Once the foam is contaminated that is it, it will still freeze and give an ice ball. In time it will impair the compressor as the product is battling to keep itself cool as well.

Visually from the outside there may not be any pipework showing, but the evaporator is foamed inside the rear panel, and it still gets cold. You only need a couple of drops or even condensation from air ingress and the vicious circle has started.

There are some contributors to this site that will remember painfully the days of refoaming cabinets, especially in the late 80’s on certain Italian machines. In the early days we had to even mix our own foam.

There are heater patches available which can be wired onto terminal 3 of the stat in parallel with the evaporator heater. This is all very well if you can get one that looks the business, and even then it isn’t a fix as all you do is paper over the cracks.

The decision is yours what you do with it.

Re: Servis M785 Fridge drain freezing up causing puddles

Assuming drain hole in fridge section, there is no easy fix.

What has happened is the ferrule in the drain hole has a poor seal to the foamed liner, water has soaked like a sponge and the wet insulation is freezing. The problem will grow like a cancer, the pipework carrying refigerant is foamed in adjacent to the drain trough, hence the cold spot.

The only fix is to lay the machine on its face, carefully cut open open the rear packing, gently hack out ALL the affected insulation from the contaminated area and beyond. Watch out as there will be pipework around, and if you puncture that, goodnight Vienna. Ensure all is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} dry. Seal the drain tube fixing with silicone, then replace the insulation with an areosol waterproof foam you get from B&Q or builders merchants, ensure only fill to 2/3rds and thoroughly tape up your incision.

It does work, but you need to take your time & be vigilant in ensuring there is no moisture in the area. This is not unique to your make machine.

    Never worth the hassle.

Many of the retailers will also have service capabilities or know someone they use and recommend to their customers, so why not do a total deal, we sell the product, if it goes wrong, we repair the product.

    Dave.

    Dave, I couldn’t agree more.

We sell Lux group products which we buy through Gillmans, DAD. Therefore, as agents we service as well.

I would love to extend the choice & put out Gorenje machines, but there is no point as we lose the customer for good. I have suggested to Robert Gillman that I’m more than happy to repair any of my own sales; regretfully the decisions regards service was taken by the makers in this case. It may be a good idea to keep lobbying DAD and see if they will return our sentiments to Gorenje.

I fancy a freebie to Slovenia.

Have a word with your own accountant.

He or She should have an in house scheme for such eventualities at a fixed fee usually around £120 p.a.

Worth every penny for peace of mind, even if all is tickety boo etc. they will find something that you genuinely overlooked.

That aside, I’m a member of the Forum of Private Business, and they are much the same as the FSB. They do perform a good servive, at a relatively low cost.

Yes, Mark does have access here.

    Dave.

I have no problem with that. In a sense it is good to hear his positive comments considering this room is no holds barred & we tell it as it is.

I do owe Scoggs an update and I’ve promised him closure on my outburst, but I would like to hear from Old Tog. If he got it wrong I wish he would read his p.m’s & get back to me.

So might it be an idea to ask all existing members to e-mail the chairman and put forward the name of the person they would like to see at the helm giving the reasons for their choice. If enough people show up at York then we would know if the council were listening as we would have time to talk to one another and compare notes.

    Just a Thought

Good thought, which I suggested a few pages ago. Trouble is we need a bit of a clue who to nominate. Otherwise loads of names will come up who aren’t even in the running.

    Can I propose Bill Clinton?

Alex, Mark was trying to call you the other day to resolve this, did he get you and is it sorted? Also GS from AIS has been trying to talk to you as well, I was asked to pass on the message so I’ve done my bit now. 😉

    K.

1] Graham from AIS?? Heard bugger all, no point in him even trying now. We finished with them over 2 months ago, and as they never had the decency to allay my concerns or even take the trouble to: a)answer my letters: b) return my phone calls: c) acknowledge my final letter of termination: d: get their accounts right.

Therefore on the strength of what appears to be dis-interest on their part, there is little point carrying on.

2] Mark Scoggs. Had a long chat with him and he has told me his side of the story, yet I’m waiting to hear from Old Tog, despite 2 p.m.’s to O.T. I’ve yet to hear his story. I’m quite happy with the result of my chat with Scoggs, and will put something in the appropriate department once O.T gets back and after the minutes are made public. I must admit I’m getting fed up with writing about that lot anyway.

Mark, was heaping praise on Ken & UKW during that call and he really feels that this means of communication has worked well for the industry and helped DASA to seek new direction. I assume he hasn’t access to this room?
