At least I didn’t use bagpipes. Have you heard the music when you are hold with Anglo iberian? It sounds like Rolf Harris with a stylophone.

I’m about to embark on a total revamp, but too busy with customers wanting our services. It will get sorted, in the meantime, turn down your speakers.

    Re: Web Site

We done our own. http://www.sedgemoordomesticappliances.co.uk it looks a bit dated now and the music is cheesy on P1. I haven’t done a good enough job with the following pages as I could have made them findable in their own right. I concentrated on the 1st page & didn’t put any thought regards adding the company name etc. onto the following pages. It is that bad, I’ve still got Merloni on it, must update it sometime.

The trick is, no matter how good it is, people need to find it. You need to get it up onto the likes of Google, Yahoo & Jeeves. The best one is to get it onto Yell.com. That is what service companies etc. use these days to see who is where, and a good site will tell them a lot. Some of our service partners are very keen to add us as a link to their sites as well, that endorses us and brings in a bit.

I’ve recently starting using a web host, he is very active in keeping us on the top of search engines, as he keeps our web site an a high profile for very little cost.

It is all good fun, but very time consuming.

Oh don’t worry, I have an epistle to the Ephisians on that lot, but I’m waiting for the moment.

It will be a good un.

    Further to the above.

There has been a delay in payments at times, but if you look you will probably see that they haven’t sent statements for money you owe them on a regular basis.

This is partly due to Jan who does accounts being under a bit of emotional stress. I know her mother hasn’t been very well and I think this has some bearings on things. If you give her a call on the ex-directory line, she will sort it on the spot.

I agree they are under-paying but at least there is a good relationship & I know Graham is fully aware that the rate is an issue.

    Re: Electrue/NESN

Being service force agents we tend to pick up the feedback when things go pear shaped.

We usually get the phone call telling us as we made the thing, we are responsible. We point out they took the DSG option to insure rather than the makers one, which may have been cheaper, they have to use the insurers agents.

The call somtimes comes back on a pay or claim basis. We don’t turn it down as it is a fully chargeable call, and we endeavour to complete with a full repair. If it comes back as a recall, we would charge again. Regretfully this helps alleviate the present workload and service delay by the present repairers.

Interesting thing though, we had 2 phone calls from NESN Weds 20th asking us to do some work. The 1st call was to pass on 4 calls, the 2nd asking how much we would charge them.

Naturally, we told them to go away.

By all means involve your retailer in this as they have to cover statutory rights.

If made by a reputable manufacturer, they would take an interest in this case to avoid bad press. Some makers would consider covering this via their own insurance.

Electrolux group for example will send an engineer to inspect and complete an Alleged Incident Report form.

Please keep us updated as to the outcome whatever it may be.

There may be a clan issue there and if we are not careful will upset a certain moderator. I suppose we could pinch a bit off Ken’s kilt. 😆

Yes the gear linkage used to jam behind the off-side wheel arch. Me as an apprentice used to have the job of laying in the Avenue Minehead in the wet with a hammer to persuade it. The wipers were driven from the pressure/vacuum in the manifold, if you were going down hill they were fast and would draw to virtual standstill as soon as you put your foot down.

I forgot the motor with planet gears on the 3208 range, you had to line them up as well, we called it the “Clattermatic”.

Must go, they want to try some new medication, nurse was watching a film last night to do with cuckoo’s nesting.

They also told me I was the only one compaining about model numbers on the front of the W/Machines not being a true indication and the serial number being on the rear.

The only ones that had problems with flooded bases on the DG6100 D/Washer, side strips coming off & the screws on the mod kits breaking.

The killer was supposedly we were the only ones that complained regards the rate we were “Enjoying”. They kept it at £25 for 3 years until I withdrew my service, then it went up by £2 but they removed the £2 “customer satisfaction fee.”

    The rest is history.

    South Western Electricity Board 1965

I’m not giving my life story, but briefly: Started as an apprentice, progressed to appliance repairs after getting C&G qualifications.

I was fixing toasters, kettles as well as Irons etc. Part number for Morphy TU1D Elements 32868T & 32867T. I’m sorry I’m so sad to be able to remember that.

I then moved on to mainly Hoover laundry products, including the sloping front keymatics, 4805 D/Washer with the carousel basket driven by a propellor off the spray arm, as well as the twin tubs.

There were the Electra badged items either made by Tallent or Frigidaire when they were part of General Motors. Then came the Zanussi L2 & GL2 etc. I still have the training notes for the 1st Candy I looked at in 1975.

I have to go now, Matron is calling as it will soon be lights out.

Just reading about this scrap is horrific.

If there are any winners here, I can’t see where. The losers are piling up and it is the spectators that will catch the fall out.

I really don’t know if anyone will gain the spoils out of all this though.

I am so glad I tuned N.E.S.N. down this time last year. I don’t envy those caught up in it.

I’m keeping out of this debate as much as possible.

I feel I must add to the positive comments regards I.S.D.A. Especially since the appointment of Richard Dally.

The advantage of Richard at the helm is the fact he was once one of us. He was a director of Dalley’s Birmingham, having been a Zanussi agent followed by Service Force. I agree that the praises should be spread among the operation as whole. Technical support is good, accounts spot on and the support regards the vagaries of the business always there.

I’m glad I’ve stuck with them.

I have been told by 2 Serviceforce agents they are offering 30.00 a job, could it be a case of better the devil u know.

I couldn’t agree more regards being out of the frying pan into the fire. It seems that NESN were so bad, anything on the table now must be better.

I do suspect that connections are a load better than NESN, but I really feel there is only 1 body who should be doing this work, and that is Service Force.

You have my sympathies, and I realise you are between the devil & the deep blue sea. See you at a future meeting.

If you really want a laugh, someone called Barbara at NESN phoned our offices today & told us they had some calls for us. They even asked what were our rates. They phoned us twice, 1st time they told us we were agents of theirs, 2nd time they spoke to another girl & tried to pass 4 calls. I wasn’t there but they were told to go away.

    Alex.
