Think the Current deal on Homeserve is with Connect. They were looking to take over D&G at one stage, but it fell through.

I assume all your D&G Whirlpool goes via Croydon.
We have a direct EDI link with Bedworth, and slip them in under the radar in a bunch of others.
When P/House went we invoiced every customer followed up by a debt collectors lettter, they all paid. Different if in year 1 though.

I shall be carrying on with invoicing D&G direct until the contract finally dies. I’m on an EDI system, and it works a treat with no interruptions and full payment @ D&G rates. There is no way I’m allowing S/Vast to take a huge chunk from a service call.
Regards Homeserve, we shall see. I don’t have the relationship I enjoy with D&G and will watch the account closely. Therefore I shall have to accept the interference of S/Vast. If I find it is a going to be loser, I shall refuse the calls.

ParticipantRe: Hoover/Candy/GIAS Called Me Up…
I’m sure they won’t be calling me…. but who knows? Will be a bit of sport if they do.
I gather they are not replacing natural wastage with engineers, that must bother their technicians as they see their colleagues evaporate, and wonder why they are still there, working even harder and taking on more area.
I would not be surprised if they follow Merloni at Perterborough, and E/Lux at Spennymore, meaning a “re-structure”
As long as Connect don’t land a contract. I did finally bin all the stock, and I won’t entertain them at all. They tried via ISDA, and Terry Jackson when he moved to Service power tried to talk me into it. I know it is nearly 10 years, but I stll have the scars from the Charme range tubs.

Do tell how it went, I bought the album a few weeks back. Sounds more like Free than Queen I’m pleased to say. Last time I saw Paul Rogers was Colston Hall Bristol when the Highway album was released, about 1971.
Didn’t think he was in Badfinger though. They comprised of Pete Ham & Tom Evans who wrote Nillsons “Without You”. Think they came from Wales (Cue Gegsy). Might have been “Bad Company” he was with.
I like the M.E.N arena not too big, yet capable of pulling in decent acts. Clapton is there 16th may.

I agree with the spurious phone number thing. However I came out of Yellow pages last year. Transpired to be a good move.
My spend was approx £6k, now it is less than £200 for a little tiny box.
The result is that my chargeable work revenue in £-p has dropped YTD by 1.22{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. (King of spreadsheets) That small amount does not justify the ealier £6k annual spend. Added to that we no longer get the dross phone calls from punters whose makes we do not repair.
Personally I’m a fan of Yell.com as it does work, but there is no need to have all the add-ons and little bits they want you to take up in order to improve the salesmans commision.
30 years ago you had 1 phone fixed in the hallway, and the books were underneath. Now we have cordless and the books are stashed away. I have trouble finding the phone sometimes, no chance with the books. Therefore it is Google or Yell.com for me. If I do that you can be sure there are millions of others doing the same.
There is one sad thing about this though, you don’t only get the man from Yellow Pages telling you they are wonderful, you now get a visit from another sales rep regards Yell.com, and guess who pays their wages.

ParticipantRe: Domestic & General
Depends on where you are located, there are differing rates according to the topography, skill sets etc.
Point is though, it is all immaterial at present unless you get an agency. They are normally well covered, and if you are hoping, you will be one in bunch of a load of others offering services to the likes of D&G. You may be in with a shout for second or even third tier, but don’t hold your breath; they won’t tread on the toes of an existing agent unless there is a good reason.

I’m another of the 11, so there are only 9 others out there that have seen sense then? Hmmmm…
When he says engineers, he must mean agents some of which cover huge areas, and Gas, and in my case alone there is a pool of 6 engineers available to do their work.
I guess that was why they still tried passing calls yesterday, as must they think we are still on board. Despite me sending everything back, refusing parcels and advising their call centre staff as well as every customer we are not calling and why.
I don’t know what part of “NAFF OFF! YOU OWE ME MONEY!” they doesn’t understand.
It is only a matter of time I suspect.

At least the rates are better (if still not wonderful) than both GBDAR and WGS.
Alex and a few others won’t be happy though, he thought he’d seen the back of them. 😉

Arrrrahhhh!!
Could be worse, could be Candy/Hoover
We will take it in our stride. They will gradually die on the vine in any case, as Philco did, secondly the life span is so short they will all be gone before we know it. At least there is a semblence of support, and we should get paid.

Simon Ibbotson it seems may not have fully put the ANS boys in the picture.
They have not seen the letters as sent out by Kroll according to my source. Also the school of thought is that ANS are still responsible for settlement of the spares account prior to 1st October. All parts were ordered via ANS and the engineers were only paid £37 per call. The guy I spoke to was horrified to learn we had £43.
They have been asked to continue, and a lot of them have said no as they need a new contract etc.
Now they have no fridge coverage in a lot of areas, and to cap it all they tried to pass us a call today, I don’t know what part of “EFF OFF you owe me money” they don’t understand.

I was talking to an ANS boy today, you know one of the old Expert guys who went alone and took on with others the MFI refrigeration work.
He has already written off the debt prior to 1st October, but has been told by that despite new contracts and TOC’s that have failed to be issued; “Please be assured there will be no problem with settlement from the new administration”.
He did give me a name of the guy who has passed on these assurances, begins with an “I” and was management in the old Expert regime, and another infamous operation prior to that. Need I say more?
He is convinced that all is fine & dandy, and he will be able to claw everything back in the future as he has had all these assurances. His problem is, he has lost Samsung, lost Lec and all he has left regards agency work is this lot. He really believes this is the only way forward.
I’ve suggested to him it will end in tears.

ParticipantRe: alarm system
Piece of cake if a bungalow. No point in messing about with wireless, go for hard wired, far more stable and easy to add/upgrade if required.
P.I.R’s are the best bet, and you can buy additional ones easily. You will need a reed switch for your main exit door, assume front door and if there is onother in the kit use that for the back door. Get a dummy alarm box for the back, and one with a strobe for the front. The only bit of wiring that would then be visible is for the doors, and that will be inside and if dropped down in the corner will hardly show.
Will take less than a morning to do the lot.
