    K.

Now you have pruned out the dead wood, I assume from the above you are looking to fill the places. Who do you have in mind?

I don’t want to be negative and say “please don’t have so & so, he is a tosser”, as he will be no doubt given access, and then read the posts.

Martin, did I ever apologise? If not please accept them in a most humble manner.

    Re: Service Power (TWR)

We gotta keep the thread alive in the Rumour Mill though for Monday, when they all have a look 1st thing. You can be sure some people have set it up for e-mail notification, and we need to make sure we start the week as we ended the last one.

Difficult for me, as they owe me about £1400, which I don’t want to jeopardise, but if I’m going to be the loser of that, then I may as well get some sport from it. If I don’t see anything by Thursday, I shall pounce. They say payment day is a Friday, lot of good this week as it will be Good Friday, but if I open up on this, you can be sure I will point that fact out

Whilst they are owing money, we will by default be rattling the confidence of the repairers, and once they get the jitters, they will start refusing calls.

What we need are the likes of Steve Ellison @ Glen Dimplex, Steve Clarke @ Electrolux, Ken Hart Beko, a few notaries from Connect and once the jungle drums start, they will be Doomed Capt Mainwaring, Doomed! Of course those at S/Power to be kept up to speed and if their lower managers see the writing on the wall, they may desert the ship. Phil can confirm the S.Force forum is running a thread on them as well, and you can be sure there are others. Have a feeling it may turn up on the Repair Care forum as well by the end of the week.

I noticed it was busy on the list of visitors on Friday, including Joanne of NESN fame as well as Terry Jackson of S/Power.

    Let the games commence.

I assume you mean who has rights to this section.

I’ve been banging on about that for Years, there are 4 notable names that are/were allowed in here, and yet never post anywhere on the site, let alone in this bit. I’m not naming names, but they are at virtually every DASA meeting.

Unless one of them has an alias and has been rather active of late.

Interesting to see the traffic regards S/Power.

The topic has now hit the Service Force web-site forum. Suspect Steve Clarke will take an active interest as it has been said he uses them in remote areas, and in times of need.

They now owe me from January, and due to the publicity, and no bloody money, they are under notice they will be on Stop as of April 1st.

    The power of UKW.

    Re: repairs@

Charging at source is no good at all. There will be failed calls and we would be expected to pay the bill nevertheless.

Forget that one! However as Ian says, I believe that those of us who put our hand in pocket should be 1st in the queue when it comes to repairs@

Personally I won’t benefit a lot as we are pretty selective. For example some woman got very nasty indeed to my lass on the phone when we called her back after received a repairs@ regards a fault on some obscure product. She ranted on that we didn’t deserve to be part of such a network, and she was going to report us to UKW. (I keep looking in the A.C. module), she would have a greater moan had we been there, charged and then told her we didn’t want to know.

    I digress.

Basically as far as I’m concerned do what you like with it, but if there is an option of selective issue on calls, then I see the logic, and if a non-paying member gets the fall-out, or crumbs from the table, then so be it.

    Servis U.K. September 1999.

Still have the credit note, but they never entered it on the statement.

They ignored all communication, and eventually I gave up.

Have you thought of sending Tanky a p.m. telling him that the repairers are subject to scrutiny.

A name like A&A repairs always puts me off, 1st in the directory etc.

    Re: Service Power

After a slow start, calls started coming through. From 1 a month increased to about 15 per week. All are Glen Dimplex own products or Beko products.

Ken Hart from Beko got hold of the fact they were subbing out this work, and put a stop to it. That slowed the flow.

We then only received Glen/Dimplex work, and that was in peaks and troughs depending on engineers holiday or sickness. We had a raft of GDH recalls, which we rejected. We also had some where the customers had refused their engineer?

When a call is cleared off Service Power, it is left subject to client review, which means 6 weeks down the line if Steve Ellison of GDH doesn’t accept your findings he will reject, and you don’t have a chance to appeal. So I invoice their bloody customers.

We have one where parts are needed and as protocol we have to phone & order direct from GDH who sends the bit to the customer, who then phones us and we go back. This one call 6 weeks later, and customer not responding to mesages whether they have the part, we close the job. Rejected as call incomplete.

Another as above, transpired the machine exchanged, again rejected as incomplete.

Another where the customer refused repairs, they then sent their engineer who had the part on his van, and completed the call. Rejected because we could not get the customer to accept a repair on a brand new product.

Have phoned Terry Jackson & told him not doing any more GDH work, he asked me to e-mail examples as most agents are complaining the same. The problem then falls on S/Power as they have agreed to outsource and honour all commitments.

Their accounting is a shambles, they tell you on a friday what calls they are paying, don’t tell you when; 6 weeks later a sum drops into your bank account, but does not match any of the amounts you have been expecting.

I used them as a workload filler, but not for much longer.

Thanks for the offer. I’m in that area in any case. Thursday in Newark & Saturday in Brum on other matters, and stopping over at Sibson Friday night.

    See you.

    Re: Radio 2

I grew up with Johnny Walker on Radio Caroline. I still remember vividly listening after midnight 14th August 1967 when they became illegal. Radio 1 started 30th Sept, and apart from John Peel, Mike Raven and DLT near the end of his tenure all the rest was very second rate. No credibility at all.

Mark Radcliffe, brilliant they should give him a day job, listening to him today I forgot how good he was. Chris Evans has grown up at last, Jeremy Vine sounds like his pet hamster has just died. The Scottish guy at 9.30, (Ken Bruce) is boring. Evenings forget it, except whispering Bob Harris Saturday Nights. Steve Wright Sunday Love songs and Parky with his Jazz on a Sunday sends me out to cut the grass. Why can’t they put something decent on weekends?

Wogan though, it is a matter of taste. His dry humour puts a smile on my face every morning. He will be retiring before long I daresay. Chris Moyles is above average and too good for R1, and will probably move on. DLT is on BBC 3CR in Beds Bucks & Herts and I catch him on the net some Sunday Mornings, but he finishes in 3 weeks.

Anyone remember Smashie & Nicey all being retired off to Radio Quiet? Not arff! “You aint seen nothin yet”

And there we have it. I have no problem with PIR’s though, but dimmer switches will be out, and just imagine those in ornamental chandeliers etc.

Suggest they talk to parts of Asia before they try and change our lives.

Just right here. Booking same & next day. However we have engineers using up their holidays, if not for that I would be bothered.

Need to ask the same question again in 2 weeks.

Looks like it is time for a visit from your local service engineer. I did get your e-mail earlier and was at a loss regards what it was about, now it makes sense.

You need to try and get hold of someone who grew up with this model, and they are full of idiosyncracies. What postcode area are you?
