    Re: NESN

I see some of this has got into the rumour mill. Assume Rudi has been kept fully up to date.

    First reaction, FANTASTIC.

I feel a tad sorry for those friends of ours who are part of the UKW membership who backed the wrong horse. I can assume they may be left a bob or two down on the deal. Reminds me of P.E.S.N. from Birmingham.

Problem as I see it though, Bloody Service Power; Vultures who will be picking the bones of the carcass.

    Anyway, move on.

    Well said Kevin.

There is a future and the future must be paved by the ones who care about this industry or trade, (Whatever you choose to call it)

We need to move forward as a team and a body of like minded members within the white goods repair business.

I don’t know the whole story regards NESN, and I know even less about what is supposed to be about to happen. To be honest I don’t really care, but I do care if there are to be any casualties from within the servicing sector. But we need to move forward and build upon our skills and to show that we are here, and here to drive our own selves into the next generation of repairers.

    Long live UKW.

    Re: CDSL

Sorry, thought that was common knowledge. The second engineer is Martin Shepherd. Knows his stuff. I have had no feed back on these guys, but I was aware they had moved from Brandt to CDSL, but I thought Brandt was paying the wage, and they were run by Roy Fisher. Makes sense to give them a larger remit, and be multi branded. Interesting to know who is going to provide their training; and, yet another expense out of the CDSL pot.

I can’t see that they are making any money.

Will see what I can fish out of Mr Parker on Tuesday.

Can we get back on the subject, I’ve got Dave Parker (Peter Mandelson’s clone) visiting next week, normal team building/brainwashing crap. Be interesting to see what he has to say.

To be fair to him, he is quite affable, but I don’t trust him.

Oscar Wilde wrote the “Ballad of Reading Gaol” which contrary to popular belief was not written in his cell, but after his release and in France, in 1897.

We are hoping this forthcoming litary masterpeice is not to be entitled the “Ballad of Horfield Prison”.

Looking forward to the story in all it’s glory. Hope it has a happy ending.

    The power of UKW chaps.

A posting went out last night, (Tues 23rd) from Daft-Lass regards CDSL rejections, debit notes and claw backs.

I put in my two pennorth, then Kevin & Ken posts something early this morning.

At about 9 a.m. today, (Weds) I get a call from Dave Parker.

    Brummie accent reqd here:-

“Alix, Ello It’s Doive ere. Ave Youw ad any debit notes from uz. Oi think the Shoit’s gowin to fit the fan on Whoite goods soite.

Can oi ask youw not to post anything on thyis just yet, as we are trying to resolve thyis before it gets out of hand”.

Any way, he tells me that he’s worried that it will be blown out of proportion etc. As if we would. He went on to say that Kevin may post something, and he doesn’t want anything contentious put on the site.

Then he says, “Oiv’e gotta gow as Roy is troing tow reach moi.” Wonder what that was about??

    Power to the people.

    Re: CDSL Rejections

We had an e-mail today on a similar situation. Like you, we looked at the date and drew the same conclusion regards timing.

I will have to look at the heads of agreement and see if they had set an escalation process, something tells me this is not in place.

To be fair, 3 months should be the maximum regards debiting our accounts. Once that period has passed, then we should not be subject to a claw back. I realise that if we got it wrong, then perhaps we should not expect too much, but each case has its own merits. If they felt fit to pay us at the time, then they should honour that.

Not a lot of Navy activity in Bristol, in fact not renown for that. Was founded on Tobacco coming in & slaves going out.

On the subject of the slave trade, we are all dying to know regards the subject in hand. Are you in shackles, or have you been liberated?

    Re: another joke.

Keep this philosophy in mind the next time you either hear or are about to repeat a rumour.

In ancient Greece, Socrates was widely lauded for his wisdom.

One day the great philosopher came upon an acquaintance who ran up to him excitedly and said, “Socrates, do you know what I just heard about one of your students?”

“Wait a moment,” Socrates replied. “Before you tell me I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Test of Three.”

    “Three?”

“That’s right,” Socrates continued. “Before you talk to me about my student let’s take a moment to test what you’re going to say. The first test is Truth. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”

“No,” the man said, “actually I just heard about it.”

“All right,” said Socrates. “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not.

Now let’s try the second test, the test of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my student something good?”

    “No, on the contrary…”

“So,” Socrates continued, “you want to tell me something bad about him even though you’re not certain it’s true?”

The man shrugged, a little embarrassed.

Socrates continued. “You may still pass though, because there is a Third test — the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my student going to be useful to me?”

    “No, not really.”

“Well,” concluded Socrates, “if what you want to tell me is neither True nor Good nor even Useful, why tell it to me at all?”

The man was defeated and left, ashamed. This is the reason Socrates was a great philosopher and held in such high esteem.

It also explains why he never found out that Plato was banging his wife.

Yes I can see where this is coming from.

No wonder I booted out AIS, when I saw the £38 my 1st reaction was that was the rate that AIS had upped it to their own agents. It was £28 when I jacked them in May last year. When I saw the first the e-mail from Richard Dalley, I thought that I may have been getting the work back via ISDA, despite the money on offer I was still disappointed.

Then the second e-mail, sort of “You can’t pay them that!” Well done ISDA for pulling the plug on our behalf. I will buy you a drink next time I see you Richard.

This just shows that ISDA hold us in higher regard than AIS. What a shame; and it goes to prove that someone is making money on the backs of the likes of us, who actually go out and get our hands dirty: not sat in an office talking about last night’s big brother.

The moral here is despite the fact there is an extra £3 on an ISDA call, they even offer training, when did anyone get training from AIS?

We can all see through this.

See it has hit the rumour mill.

No wonder I booted out AIS, when I saw the £38 my 1st reaction was that was the rate that AIS had upped it to their agents. It was £27 when I jacked them in may lat year. They still keep phoning and have even ofered double rate. When I saw that I may have been getting the work back via ISDA, despite the money on offer I was still disappointed.

Might put some of this up onto the Rumour mill thread tomorrow, but will sleep on it 1st.

Yes I am still here. Just that this topic is moving very quickly. Just as I get my head around some of it, in come the amendments.

So I’m relying for you guys who are no doubt better qualified in these mattews to dot the I’s & cross the Tees.

When it settles a bit I will start to get myself in tune with the rationale and ethos of the exercise I hope.

As I said this is new ground for me.

Still no problem with putting it out though, I need to get familiar with it, in order to make it look like I know what I’m talking about. I’ve got away with it so far.

If you are talking Life of Brian, (Fwee Woderwick) you must mean Biggus Dickus, his wife was Incontinentia. (Stwike him Centurwian, vewy wuffly)

Tell I had a good upbringing. Suspect this has gone off topic somewhat, can someone possibly steer this back to the appropriate subject?

Oh Dear, the Mac Donalds culture.

The only time I’ve done Maccie D’s is in Salzburg, bought an ice cream & coke & used the loo. Real reason for gracing their door-way; was to use that loo.

Fortunately as my kids grew up without the obligatory trips to a big Mac thing, they don’t see the attraction.

Back to the subject in hand. A good way of instant hot food on the road. Get a Cornish Pastie, (aka Tiddy Oggie) keep the wrapper on and then double wrap with tin foil. Put in on the manifold under the bonnet of the van when you start up, by midday, a good piping hot meal. Nigella, Eat your heart out.
