Not a good recommendation at all really then?
The recommendation would be for those on a lower budget who still require reliability. The reliable operation of the machine and the fact that apart from the occasional EASY ‘front bearing change’ this machine rearly becomes problematic and hence you are receiving a good quality product at a lower cost, from a manufacturer that is well known, and for whom I have found that the supply of parts is easy to access and which are also at a cheap price.

ParticipantRe: WM52 Door would not open
This machine does not have a filter and and no sensor to prevent the door opening. Therefore as iadom said, it most likely is the Door Interlock (Part No 1602390) and that will need replacing!

http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ucts_id=86I have one of these machines in front of me at this moment.
This machine does have a ‘Cage filter’ that is located inside the ‘drum to pump’ hose; To access the filter, remove the backplate of the machine, then opening the securing ring at the top of the hose, disconnect the hose from the drum; Therein you will find the cage filter. If blocked the lower half of the outer drum will have retained water and caused the pressure switch to activate the door lock.
Make sure that when doing this that the power is swiched off as if this is the fault the lower half of the outer drum will have retained water which will disperse during this process.

Hotpoint VTD00 is not a bad one at all, and it has sensordry. However, this is a 6kg machine and requires new bearing on the front approx every 18months if you are a heavy user.

Check that the filter is not blocked and stopping the water from escaping…. If there is water in the drum then the sensor will sometimes stop the door from opening
