NP.. Advice accepted there. To be honest, I don’t see why the likes of Microsoft haven’t done something with this situation before now.. The ideal situation would be to have something similar to Logmein built into the operating system.

Anyone got any good places to learn how to set up VPNs from scratch?..

I’m currently utilising Logmein to connect & Hamachi for VPN.. I would like to make it a little self sufficient and save myself a couple of hundred quid at the same time.

Sounds like you have a blockage from the pump to the sink by the description you have given, or your pump is operating but not pumping.

Martin.. It may be strange to you, but Trading Standards are not that bad..

I have sourced their opinion 4 times in the past year and only one of those times have I been advised to assist the customer.. Even then it was a case of ‘Do this and all will be fine’.

TS are as much on our side as they are on the side of the customer.. Taking the fair middle ground and advising as they see it.

David, let us know how you get on with TS and with the problem if you don’t mind.

Since they took it away from you it is not as simple as you would imagine..

How was the appliance removed from your premise?

You can not be made responsible for damage that someone else causes.
If the appliance was removed on its side or back, or without transport bolts, it comes under the same scenario as ‘Deliver Damage’ and therefore would be the responsibility of whomever was delivering the goods..

My advice.. Have a word with Trading Standards.. Give them all the info you can regarding: testing prior to removal; the removal itself, eg. who removed it, type of vehicle, position of appliance, safety strapping etc.

    Re: True or false?

I have had this question posed to me many times.. The regulation is as far as I understand it, as Philfish says; you are allowed to change like for like, hence you are able you renew the cooker and the connecting cable so long as you use the same type of cable. However, I understand that you may use a smaller size cable if needed and correct for the cooker being installed, but not one of an increased size.

This does also mean, again as far as I am aware, that if there has never been a cooker installed at the cooker point then the testing needs to take place.

Re: Electrue and their discount software crash, is it just m

I have also noticed that the prices of my Connect account have gone to the equivalent of a cheap retail outlet rather than trade…

I have had Connect contacting me throughout the past two weeks asking me to place orders with them instead of Qualtex.. giving me the availability of the fit-lists for the parts I buy and making sure that I get the matched prices…

However, today, I needed to buy a Bosch part ..
    The price at Qualtex £18.49
    The price at Connect £21.27
    The price at Bosch £28.25

But fair dues given to Masterpart; they had the part in for a change and priced at £16.00, notwithstanding this, Masterpart charge £4.95 for postage and have guaranteed next day AM delivery for the part.

Connect could not, or would not, price-match the part.. Part bought from Masterpart

Just to put a point to put forward for Qualtex; they probably would have price matched Masterpart, but they charge £6.65 postage and it is doubtful if I would get an AM delivery from them, but I buy regularly from Qualtex so they wont mind too much missing out on one order.

This is just an example of what is on offer , and what could be gained, if you look around, and if you ask.
