Do they indeed? Perhaps on the back of JTM who are associate members. Is there mention of a DASA connection on their website, if so I couldn’t find it?

Have to say though, very slick & professional presentation on their web-site.

    Alex

Alex, they say it in the FAQs
    http://www.0800repair.com/repair-faq.aspx

Q: Are you a member of a trade association or guild?

A: Yes we are members of DASA — the Domestic Appliance Service Association

Their site is very good, except for one of the deadly sins of web design, which is to force-play music or video with sound when someone arrives on their home page. Forcing a loud advert to play without warning is plain crazy.

I’d left my speakers on fairly loud some hours back and had spent a quiet afternoon working. I clicked to their home page and jumped out of my skin when a stupid advert immediately played. The annoying advert cannot be stopped and the sound can’t be turned off.

I find that sort of thing extremely annoying and immediately hit the back button. I only went back because being in the trade it was of interest but I can guarantee had I been a potential customer I would not have gone back.

    Re: Trustmark

I could have sworn at least one of our prominent members got accepted on Trustmark a year or so back.

    Re: Trustmark

This one is supposed to be run by gov dept, non profit making. So it should in theory be more reliable than any of the plethora of subscription-based and run for profit schemes that are all fatally flawed because of the built in conflict of interests.

Of course repairs@ is also good.

    Re: Trustmark

I remember some members saying they’d been accepted at Trustmark ages ago. I’ve just been looking at the trustmark site whilst looking into local builders and have noticed there aren’t any appliance repairers showing.

There isn’t even an appliance repairers section in the drop down list. The only reference i can find is “Fitted Appliance Repair” under Electricians.

    Aren’t any UKW members trustmarked?

Thanks guys. I’m a bit out of touch with repairs I’m afraid these days.

Re: Hoover Candy – are they OK now?

No one cares about answering a fellow members query? What’s this forum coming to? 😉

Parts aren’t any different to everyone else (except ISE) are they? What do you mean by locked in for 5 years? 5 year parts guarantee doesn’t lock anyone in, only suckers some people in and some probably even are better off using it at times.

No one seems to be disputing the idea Hoover machines are pretty decent these days so maybe it’s true.

Steve, that problem is covered in depth on the article and comments I linked to.

Re: ISE 5-2 Vestel making holes in clothes ?

I have an article on this here Holes in washing (laundry)

It’s got 141 comments on it so far. I’m not suggesting there’s necessarily anything there that you don’t already know but as far as I know it covers all possible known causes of holes in clothes and could be useful. One possible explanation that’s surfaced from comments is granite worktops causing small holes in the front of t shirts.

Cheers. That’s a useful way to see when one’s been read. I was assuming it worked the same way as email does.

I could be wrong but I thought messages in the outbox are waiting to be sent. Once sent they go into the sentbox.
