I’m with you on the positive interpretation, and I feel you understand my disappointment angle too. I hope my initial mischievous remarks didn’t come across too seriously – I should have used a winky maybe.

What are the implications of a manufacturer owning a national retailer? Has it been done before?

I don’t think you should argue with them, that was a flippant comment 🙂
My point was that it’s a review to be relieved about rather than be pleased about although it’s possible to be pleased if you feared it could be worse than it turned out 😉
On balance the Which report was positive and while a polite request to get our name right is appropriate there is nothing to gain over arguing over their perceptions of our machine.
It’s not bad. but their perceptions are that it’s little different to other washing machines, as we know, the main difference is in the service and future repairability, and that’s what’s most disappointingly missing from the report. However, as you say it is a good start. To be fair, Which? reviews aren’t very in-depth and they aren’t used to such a concept. Maybe if they were aware of it though it would have made a difference to the report.
I did feel a bit sorry for Ken … he has got a bit of a beating by being too pragmatic.
Did I miss something? 😉 I bet Ken can’t be doing with things going easy and smoothly – it unsettles him as he starts to anticipate things are bound to start going pear-shaped any time soon – and that’s stressful. lol

What about for the pleasure of a good argument? 😉

I just think it’s not very good and it ought to be disappointing but I presume you are thinking it could have been a lot worse – hense my comment.
They’ve totally missed what the ISE is all about, and why it isn’t just another washing machine, including the fact that it stands for Independent Service Engineering.
This bit – “The company was foundered by a group of ex-washing machine service engineers when they got fed up with repairing the machines” sounds like it’s a casual enterprise by a bunch of bored engineers. And “Noisy, poor rinsing” isn’t too good.
There’s good stuff in there too but it missed out the most important difference between it and an ordinary Beko.

I’d have to say that we’re pretty pleased with that result.
K.That sounds like the reaction of a man expecting a kicking and only getting a slap in the face.

ParticipantRe: I ripped their floor vinyl.
I just lift the machine up the few millimetres necessary to pull them back out or retrieve them before the final push home when it’s mostly back in situ anyway. The cupped ones can only be used if the machine is able to be lifted up at the front about an inch or so. If not, the flat ones are only about 5 mm thick so I use them.
If the machine is so tight that it can’t be lifted up even a few mm at the front then I’d advise the customer that this machine can’t be pulled out without the risk of some floor damage. I point out that whoever tries to get it out could damage it and if they don’t want to try it, I can as long as it’s understood that I will try my utmost not to damage anything but if it occurs it’s not my fault.

I use teflon coated sliders available from B&Q and similar. They are rubber on the top and shiny on the bottom. I have two sets, one that are flat and one that are like cups where the feet can rest inside. Once under the front feet I slide the machine out but as soon as possible (and height restrictions from work tops allowing) I tip the machine forward raising the back legs over the flooring.

Lots of views but no one confirming the site is broken. A broken site’s an important issue, I’m surprised no one from EMW has commented.

I couldn’t see your name on the Vexatious litigants list Martin so I suppose they’ll let you. Let us know how you get on with it – it seems a great service.

I understood that the suds can reduce the effect of the laundry rubbing against each other by creating a soft film of foam and a cushioning effect. I believe this is only the case when oversudsing occurs but the principle is that they don’t aid cleaning and can hinder it.
