ParticipantRe: LG F1443KD6 11kg not spinning.
Don’t think there is a problem with the wash……. seemed OK on test. It reacts as if it cannot generate a balanced load for spin; trying and failing for several minutes until it eventually does but may or may not fault code UE. According to the customer it fails to spin most times. The guy is old and laconic with his replies and seems to not really give a coherent description other than “It’s still not right….”
It doesn’t help that he is my father in law’s bowling partner so I am somewhat morally handcuffed to the job. Hall sensor was very cheap but didn’t seem to make a difference so I think I’m going to play the “10 year warranty motor” AKA “not my problem card” – as the next step (buying in a module) is going to be serious monetary risk for me. I can’t see any other way to solve this.
Many thanks for the help!Steve.

Fitted a hall sensor which was actually not that difficult to do TBH……. still doesn’t generate a spin. So……….
Module or motor? Any help on this appreciated!aqualectric
ParticipantRe: bosch dishwasher e19
If you are talking about the wax solenoid that opens up to drain the right side tank then just plug on one nicked from a dispenser unit and the fault should go away. The “liquor tank” as it is called by Bosch only drains at the beginning of the cycle and then refills at the end. I found the hose that joined the tank to the nozzle on the diverter valve was blocked and that caused the tank not to fill, didn’t error code though.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers
All new Hotpoints have the rivet fitted – I have two driers a year old and both had the rivet factory fitted. I check most of the Hotpoint / Indesit driers I see in the home and all new ones have the rivet present.

Is it heating? Rinse aid into cold water = loads of suds. Just a thought.

ParticipantRe: leaking bosch dishwasher repair kit
The airbreak tends to stiffen the left side but they tend to leak from the vent and lower nozzle. Seal them both with heatproof silicone refit and all’s well. I also reseal the tub seam before refitting the airbreak – just my ‘belt ‘n’ braces’ approach.

Thanks for your reply Kaibart.
I have this feeling of impending doom with this job….. when I looked at it before Christmas I found the hall sensor (just reachable from the top of the tub with the back panel only halfway removed) had slipped from its mounting point. Pushed it back and the machine spun. Lucky perhaps, but it has now started doing it again. I have so much work on at the moment I could really do without a tiresome long winded low reward job to slow down proceedings.
So if it is really difficult to strip these down just to get to the hall sensor and it’s not gonna solve it, then my ‘self preservation’ kicks in and says, manufacturer only job ma’am. Motor guarantee could be a good place to start. ๐Unless I am just being a wuss and it’s really easy………. :snig:

ParticipantRe: leaking bosch dishwasher repair kit
I’ve seen (last week) a six month old Polyon base dishwasher fitted with the right hand side and back stiffeners from the factory. I was pleased as it vindicated the side wall and back wall metal angle stiffeners I have been making and fitting to the really distorted ones for about a year. After my January last year question about the way Bosch dealt with the problems of these dishwashers leaking so frequently and what was the manufacturers own solution to the problem, the reply was that BSH were having similar failures and there was no actual fix. So I measured up and made my own brace kit and it worked after a few tweaks. Although with the patterns I tried and tested it now takes me a little over half an hour to make from scratch and fit. I was surprised to see the BSH design is using the same method and mounting points – but above all I am amazed to see a repair kit is available – not having to scratch – make them anymore is welcome.
Does it work? In a word, yes! Once the seams were resealed and braced back into their factory positions the sealed edge cannot sag outwards therefore the seal only has to cope with natural material expansion and not the weight of the lower basket, the top basket pushing the side down and the sag of the Polyon. The plastic sheet looks like the stick on water shield fitted to some of the models to protect the module and the ‘wiper blades’ sometimes appear on some models yet serve no real purpose without the bracing bars. I presume like the others these fit on the side lip of the tray and press against the stainless body. I’ve used oven silicone all along the joints with no wipers fitted and had no issues. The longer spray arm must be an attempt to raise the spray jet above the seal line as the original was almost directly firing hot water at the seam.
I keep in contact with some of the regular customers of the dishwashers I have modified and even the first one I did (my friend’s machine) is holding up with no noticeable movement (12 + months) Good result and maybe with this kit the fault can be eradicated so we can recommend Bosch again.Just got to get the heatpumps right now………… :rolls:

I wish I could say the same, Martin from someone that has youngsters still growing up at home and the enormous costs involved. I think Tim falls into that category too.
Wonder what the virtually retired Martin would say 35 years ago…….. “thank God those pesky Bendix ‘E’ springs and Indesit L5 pumps are no more – good income stream but hey, no biggie” – who needs money eh? Also advising the public to buy cheap disposable machines; whatever questionable merit there may be in that, also helps the demise of your fellow engineers. No problem when you can look down from a comfortable position solely due to the period you started in the industry when it was easy to make a substantial amount of money at this and seem insensitive towards the folks still trying to make a living today from this trade against all odds.
Facetious, joking or insensitivity aside, I’m sure you have your tongue firmly in your cheek; at least I would hope your post was ironic and not meant as it was read. If not move your tongue a little to make space for your foot. :rolls:aqualectric
ParticipantRe: Bosch Dishwasher Heat Pump failed prematurely
I have only had one heatpump supplied with the new baffle; none before or since. Agree it narrowes the gap slightly and that is counter intuitive. It’s blue to replace the black original.
Scaling is present on most of the heater cylinders ( I show the customer the heater to reinforce the fragility of the design; where interested :rolls: ) but the ‘pop’ is nearly always at the bottom section of the heater cylinder where it meets the classic cabinet leak water. The scale will often have a burnt smell so overheating is clearly an issue; hence the question of the baffle.
But if it was designed properly that would be a good source of income gone. They are easy and quick to fit and the customer always says go ahead. 8) No complaints here!Steve.

Set switch 7 to ON as it says “Standard or Aqua stop”. Macine is probably looking for a valve it doesn’t have.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Atlantis not filling
That machine has twin valves fitted directly to the dispenser top. You did not mention if there was water sprayed inside the machine; if there was the likely outcome would be module (electronic circuit board) would have blown for three reasons:-
1) the water had splashed over the module or –
2) the valve connections got wet and shorted the module –
3) the pressure switch (controls the fill and empty) got wet and failed in itself and / or blew the module.Either way the module is a manufacturer fit only as the board has to be flash written with the correct software and only Hotpoint have that software.
Hope that helps!
