Had this before – if cleaning doesn’t work you will need a new PCB (new software version) pt. no. 489494 £62.00+ vat and the new float safety system pt.no. 489542 £4 – £5 ish.
I had this happen and it solved it – thanks to Gegsy’s post back along!!!aqualectric

Ken, like me, it’s unfortunate we live and work IN THE PREDICAMENT; not stand outside and wring our hands about THE PREDICAMENT. So you raise your head above the pulpit to have your hat shot off – for what? Free speech is being strangled; but the real points are being missed or deliberately ignored. There is a crisis in our industry and race, colour, creed, or religion isn’t going to change that. But people expressing their point of view WILL – PC or not. There is none so blind as those who will not see. I wish I had the time to disect someone’s every word rather than understanding what he trying to express and realising he is saying it because he may be slightly p***ed off. 🙄

ParticipantRe: Strange WMA60 fault
More than likely moved a poor connection to PCB aka Zanussi user boards with their rather inferior strip connector. I often remove the plugs and clean the tracks before condemning the board with a good rate of success.
See how it goes!aqualectric
ParticipantRe: Staggering Really
I was doing a dishwasher repair at a local college a few weeks ago and at the same time chatting with the tutor waiting with me. I was telling her it was getting harder to keep up with the workload and the need to employ someone soon was getting urgent to keep up with demand. She said there must be a huge requirement for new recruits to train for the Dom App. industry and would I consider taking on a modern apprentice.
So I thought, Steve; don’t put on your cynical hat just yet, so I said ‘Yes’ I could be interested.
She said she had 2 lads 19 and 21 that would fit the bill perfectly.
Wait for it…. one was badly dyslexic – the other had learning and emotional problems. The best bit is; she was deadly serious. Now, no disrespect to the lads concerned but I was waiting for Jeremy Beadle to jump out and shove a camera in my face!! 😆
I asked her why I couldn’t I be offered one of the many unemployed post -grads that litter the bedsits around here with brains and ambition that usually waste their intelligence working in fast food outlets and why, because our trade is a manual job we were only offered life’s potato peelings. (I didn’t word it quite like that – but she got my point).
‘So you wouldn’t be interested then’ she said and I thought, what’s the point? 😕 End of conversation.
The system ignores our trade, and denies youngsters the opportunity to see past the ‘sharp suit and 9 to 5 in an office’ workplace ‘ideal’.
I enquired a while back locally to see if any training courses were available for Dom App. engineers. Not a thing – even Eastleigh college have discontinued their course due to ‘lack of applicants’. Very strange considering the skill shortage.
Unless something is done to alter the mindset of the staff at the colleges and jobcentre ( who incidentally only offered me ‘New Start’ candidates ie: ex – prisioners and long term unemployed – nothing else) and possibly the Government (although to find a working mind amongst them would be a revelation) this industry we know and love will probably cease to be.
The lack of foresight and common sense IS monumentally staggering.
So when us ‘oldies’ hang up our hats for the last time – then what??? 😥
That’s it, I’m off for a large whisky and a cold shower. 😆aqualectric
ParticipantRe: Ariston AIB16 Advantage – door fault?!
It could well be the door interlock, but this is connected to the main PCB (module board). The interlock may lock and not switch power to the PCB or the PCB doesn’t respond to the door interlock signal. These boards have relays on them that fail and this could well be the fault. Faults are rarely apparent on PCB’s and they can be expensive (especially if purchased in error) and usually cannot be returned to the retailer. Door interlocks are reasonably priced, but a waste of money if it’s doesn’t fix the fault.
Call a reputable local engineer to diagnose the fault. In your case, it’s probably the cheapest and safest option. Then you can make an informed decision to repair or replace the machine. 😉aqualectric
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM63P several issues
Make sure the economy switch isn’t activated (out position) as this greatly affects heating performance. In all the excitement, has it got pressed accidentally??

ParticipantRe: ind wax120
Doesn’t this practice of ‘non – repairable’ machines fly in the face of WEEE regs? The careless waste of materials; not to mention the water, electricity and fuel needed to manufacture, transport and dispose of these machines is surely what the legislation is trying to combat. If not, then why legislate at all? The older machines were surely much more enviromentally friendly than this modern rubbish.
Also, the customers would have a watertight case under the Sale of Goods Act as these machines are surely not of merchandisable quality and not fit for purpose. The Act covers such things for a period of up to 6 years. (only possible from a Merloni machine if it is left boxed)!
There has always been rumblings in the trade about ‘the end of our industry’, could this be the writing on the wall? 🙁aqualectric
ParticipantRe: Bosch SGS 43E02GB/43 facia
Thanks for that !
I will look for this viewer on BSH later, as it’s a pain having to write down part no’s and then transfer to Connections.

ParticipantRe: tc480w belt snapped
When customer doesn’t clean the filter regularly, lint gets in between the front bearing seal and the drum; rolls up into a lump and can brake or completely jam the drum. Had this several times. Always worth removing the drum and cleaning round the seal. Also check for sticky or split jockey pulley. 😉
Phidom is right; her ‘2 years old’ for a TC480 is a little ‘economical’ shall we say?? 🙄 If its got the electric fan on the back in place of the ‘crossover’ green belt it’s probably 10 – 12 years++!! 😯aqualectric
ParticipantRe: Zanussi FJ1295
Have you done an insulation test between armature and earth? Common to have armature failure on Zanussi especially when motors are hot. Take off the brushes and look closely at the armature for signs of shorting and ‘rainbow’ blue and purple coloured overheating marks on the com. Also check the tacho magnet is tight (so machine doesn’t try to launch into spin full of water – another common problem). Worn or very ‘carbon dusty’ brushes can cause a trip situation – worth swapping suspect ones with new for a trial. If motor checks out o.k, worth insulation testing the heater – really apart from leaks the only other cause of trips popping. I have had an interlock throw the trip but only once and this didn’t affect the motor or the pcb.

ParticipantRe: stoves dw617 dishwasher
Hotpoint DF53 dishwasher uses cords for the door restraint mechanism; possible they are the same? Also, as Dimplex brands also encompass Belling, their dishwasher (widely available at B&Q if you need a model no.!!) may have the same hinge set – up.
Hope this helps!! 😉aqualectric
ParticipantRe: merloni bearing kits
Phidom wrote:Don’t pay Merloni prices for bearings, look for a reasonable price kit containing the bearings you need and just buy the OEM seal. I think Connect do an AEG kit that contains the 6205 & 6206 (if that’s the ones you need).
Bearing kit part no. BRG6091(Connect) and seal part no. 082696 (genuine Merloni part) is certainly the cheapest way of assembling a bearing kit for these machines. 😉

ParticipantRe: Not sure if this is an error code Zanussi
I have had similar probs with these machines (uses the delta pcb, methinks). When the user interface (facia) goes dead, it’s always worth trying to clean and tighten the little strip connector on the bottom of the facia pcb.
Remove the facia and gently wiggle the connector off. (there is also a little plastic barb holding the plug in place – these break easily). You can remove the pcb from its location and clean the contact strips and pinch the plug lightly together with pliers so it goes back on tightly. Then refit pcb to facia and fit back on machine.
I have had a good rate of success with this – about 10 mins work all told.
Worth a try!!! 😉aqualectric
ParticipantRe: chanelle falling apart
Finished an AEG (14 month’s old) tonight in the workshop – too blocked to clear in the home. Unbelievable amount of material in the drum, pump, sump – absolutely EVERYWHERE!!! 😯
Strip and rebuild was the only real course of action. Three 2 litre containers full ! Come across this several times with rubber – backed bath sets. Nice job! 😈
Funny though, I was reading this thread last week and thought, ‘What’s chanelle?’ Bloody well know now!! 👿 -
