Hi, you shouldn’t have to go that far, it seems a simple defrost will cure the frozen pipe, then look at why it didn’t defrost automatically.
Most likely the rear module.

Hi Burberry, as Nick explained to me; it’s highly likely your fridge needs a good defrost.
There is a heat exchanger type unit in the freezer compartment, air passes through this into the fridge.
If the auto defrost is failing, it ices up and no air can pass through it into the fridge.
There is also a fan that blows the ‘chilled’ air through.
More often then not, it’s a control unit fault, ukwhitegoods sell these modules if you’re unable to repair it.
Start reading this forum from page one and you’ll quickly come up to speed.
Where in the country are you?

Good morning Nick, I’m thrilled you got your whirlpool working again and without replacing a whole circuit board! Thank you for your kind message too.
Last night i repaired a second Whirlpool Fridge Freezer for a lovely couple in Oldham; the unit had the ‘ice dispenser’ The LED Displays had been flashing and chattering for a week, the fridge had warmed too.
As per my fridge, 4 of the 5 caps behind the dispenser had failed.
Two large Polypropylene Capacitors later and the job was done.
I didn’t charge any money but, he rewarded me with silver for saving a small fortune. 🙂
Thank you to all and UK WhiteGoods for this forum.
N.B The boards can be purchased here on this site and take a few minutes to fit if you don’t want to repair them.broddersbaldrick

Oh, just read the spec, sorry.
We need to establish if you have a power supply problem.
We then need to establish if those caps are suitable in that application.broddersbaldrick

Hi Nick, can you give me a call
***********
I don’t think those caps are metallised polypropylene? The type of cap is important, not sure if others have fitted the same?
I fitted metallised polypropylenejohn

Hi Nick, where is the ‘clicking’ on your unit?
What type of caps have you used to replace the old one’s?
Do you have the part numbers from RS or Maplin / Farnell? I will see if they should have worked.
I’ll try and help.

Ok, so I’m an electronics engineer just moved to South Yorkshire and just bought a faulty unit with ice maker. 5th July 09
I can confirm, I tested and found 3 of the 5 white capacitors (Rear module) were well out of spec!! They dry up and leave the circuits with a ‘low’ supply. They should all be replaced!! The little blue ones are ok.
I replaced all 5.
My Fridge still suffered with a clicking!
The clicking is not faulty relays; it’s caused by a supply voltage dropping when it comes under load. The ‘load’ makes the supply drop off which switches off the relays etc. Once it’s switched off, the supply comes back up to normal values, the relays etc switch back on and the supply drops again. This will keep happening, it’s like an oscillator.I removed my ‘front module’ found 4 yellow capacitors that were again well under spec. More then 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.
These caps are actually all in parallel. There is not the room to fit one large one so the designers have fitted 4 smaller one’s. Two nights ago, I have fitted 2 capacitors each with a value of 1uf 275ac to the back of this module. Wow, a £1700 fridge freezer repaired for less then £10.
To the guy in Cumbria, did you find some help?
Thank you and kind regards to all.broddersbaldrick
ParticipantRe: Indesit widl 102 washer – dryer leds flashing…
It says the ‘Motor Stops’!
I have had an indesits which start failing like this, then stopped altogether.
I’m just trying to give the guy some clues; motor problems do cause the machine to stop and the lights to start flashing on Indesit machines!!
Too many times i have seen circuit boards written off as faulty yet they are not always the cause; i hope you would agree? In fact the electronics are very reliable and rarely the cause of failures. As the armature current increases from the drive triac, the ‘eprom’ senses the motor turning (via speed sensor)and increases the current until the motor turns at required speed.
During the cycle, if the current does not fall into the set parameters, the machine stops and the lights begin to flash.I have had them and, the later 7 wire motors are less durable then the 5.
You may well be correct about a dodgy ‘eeprom’ but I would not put my money on it.
Is your ‘eeprom failure’ not a guess? or do you have the machine in front of you?One can test a motor with a 12 volt battery and a meter.
Thank you

tomaszm wrote:We would be very grateful if anybody would help us to recognise the problem that occured to our washer-dryer indesit widl 102. It started with difficulty to get rid of the water after starting a program. It would go for a while – would get water and start turning, than would stop , and after few minutes several of the leds would start flashing. The first one – red above the automatic lock sign (would flash very fast), than the first green ( which is the second led if you count the red one 😛 ) , and the fourth one (again if you go from the red) – they flash less fast than the first in the same rythm. Maybe somebody knows how to read those symptoms ?
If the machine is a few years old, my guess is – the motor has gone.
See if it’s the 7 wire motor; they fail / go short circuit after a while. -
