By the way cessna are you still doing “recalls” in your own time at Indesent? 😯If cust calls back within 3 days of visit it gets added on to our work as extra after that they have to wait for an open slot which around these parts is up to 2 weeks 😯 Mad i know.
Funny enough did another pump today using the cable tie method all done within 2 minutes.
As most of our work is insurance cust dont care how long you there for so i suppose they might be a bit peed off if you walk in clear the fault in 2 minutes and say thats £60 or whatever independents charge.cessna
ParticipantRe: Indesit made dishwashers
I know what you mean and i thought that when i was told how to do it but it works.
I suppose we are mostly dealing with bits of food, bone and glass.
Usually takes me a minute or two the most.
When you get it right you push the pump flap valve and water from the drain hose rushes in pushing the blockage out the way or you push the item the other way with the cable tie.If you look at the grid in the sump i push the cable tie through each of the three gaps and give it a good push and pull as far as it will go.
I then do a few fill/empties to make sure its gone.
Cable ties i use are the 10 inch(approx) white ones that have some width so you get that pushing power.cessna
ParticipantRe: hotpoint Mistral ff92s
The ones Kwatt quotes are both in the freezer behind the back panel.
The one in the fridge which you was looking at never really goes wrong. If the freezer is ok the usual problem would be an ice build up behind the freezer back panel cutting off airflow from the fan to the fridge.
Check your freezer door seals to make sure they are sealing again the cabinet when closed.
First thing i would try is to turn appliance for 24 hours with doors open and let it all defrost.Ice can build up where you cant see it.
After that dry up any water and turn it back on.cessna

I replaced the thermostats on our TDC62 a couple of weeks ago with a kit from UKwhitegoods when it stopped heating and it fixed the problem. However, the same problem has come back and the green spot “one shot” thermostat appears to have gone again. Do you know of an underlying problem that might cause this or is it just bad luck?
Cheers
BJWBiggest problem is as said above a blocked condensor, pull it out and flush it through with a shower head so you can see one end to the other.
Another big problem is the duct behind the door being blocked.
Take the door filter out and look down into the hole it is probaly blocked with dust use something to push it out the bottom i sometimes use a wire coat hangar.cessna
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint washing machine broken
1st step.
Does the door shut properly?
Does it lock when shut?
Can you easily open the door without much pressure on the door latch? These faults are usually due to one side of the door latch spring having been snapped off so you think you are shutting the door but there is no pressure to push the latch to activate the door interlock.

If the call center staff can’t help ask them can they contact technical helpdesk who have more info than what is on partfinder.
If they say they cant do it ask to be transfered to cust. services and explain situation they will help you more than the call centers.May 6, 2007 at 1:24 pm in reply to: Hotpoint WD640P engineer left for dead but seems to be ok #212815cessna

Plastic cable ties are the answer.
Looking down from the top put belt over the top of the pulley wheel and put a cable tie going around the belt through the gap in the pulley, might need two.
Now let half of the belt hang loose off the pulley wheel and put the other lower end around the motor shaft(having taken bottom rear panel off).
Open the door and turn the inner drum by hand so the pulley wheel takes the slack and keep turning it until the cable ties snap off resulting in the belt staying on.
Hope i’ve tried to make it sound clear enough it is a very simple procedure.cessna
ParticipantRe: Testing for continuity Hotpoint wm76 heating element
Sounds like the heater is ok it should be around 30 ohms.
With power off try taking off the pressure chamber HOSE at the pressure switch(the round plastic part usually slotted onto the timer by a bracket).
Try machine with this off and put it on a spin program if it works you have a blocked pressure chamber.cessna

It isn’t Hotpoint that offers you this it’s Domestic+General. They have access to private chargeable calls on Hotpoints database and call you trying to get you to take out insurance.

Use an alkaline AA battery. The battery holder is located in the plinth panel below the oven door.Open the oven door fully.Press the tag on the left hand side of the battery cover and withdraw it just enough to get access to battery.
Fit battery with the end marked “+” on the same side of the battery holder as the red wire.Push it firmly back in.cessna
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FFS70S – Blocked fridge drain hole
Yes the gutter pipe is foamed in on these models.
Hopefully when you push the wire all the way down you should see it appear at the bottom from the pipe above plastic evaporator dish on top of the compressor.
You say its over 4 years old,if you do hit ice the only thing you can do is to turn appliance off take all food and drawers out leaving the doors open.
Leave it for 24 hours if you can it will make sure any ice has gone.Try again with the wire and you should be able to push it all the way down.cessna
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FFS70S – Blocked fridge drain hole
I always get a wire coat hangar.Cut it and bend it out.It will go all the way to the bottom so clearing any debris and you will know if it hits ice.

ParticipantRe: An offer you can’t refuse?
New to forums but this thread caught my eye.
I have been working for Hotpoint for many years and endured the take over by Merloni.
What i see mainly is a backlash from the original Hotpoint engineers who have seen a decline in working conditions since Merloni took over.
Days have become longer due to bad planning and good systems that Hotpoint had in place have been got rid of in the name of cost cutting, area offices to name but one.
People in the office were offered 2{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} from the outset and we were offered 1{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}
which enraged most engineers as it was saying we Merloni think you have done a crap job and this is what we think of you.
Considering all the mistakes management, planning and the office have made and still continue to do so it all filters down and ends with us.
Which manifests itself in longer working days, customers moaning more than ever, lack of support etc.
All for 1{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}Just a note to a previous post where the engineer said he can sit on the beach at lunchtime.I work inner city and never have a lunch as i would like to be home at ‘reasonable’ time.Parking, traffic and slum housing estates easily triples the workload and stress compared to working out of a city.
Anyway enough moaning ! Promise my next post will be a positive one 😉

ParticipantRe: mistral frost free
9/10 times ice build up in freezer blocking off air ducts to fridge.
First step is to check the freezer door seal.Does it seal against the cabinet all the way around.Look closely at the bottom corners of the seal as you close it are they pushed or folded in thus not making a proper seal.Any gaps in the seal against the cabinet will cause warm air to enter the freezer casuing ice to build up.
If its ok try and defrost it with the plug turned off and baskets out, doors left open for at least 12 hours.Ice will be behind the panels that you can’t see.
After defrost dry everything up and turn on.
This would be my first step. -
