If this is the flush soft type control panel which i think it is you really have to push hard the area where the button is.
I’ve been to quite few calls like this and you really have to press hard to make contact with switch behind to cancel out the light.

Have a look at the door seal on the right side near the door lock and around towards the top.
Are there any holes in it that can cause water to splash on to the power board above or door interlock to the right?
If the machines been written off and you are insured then you will be given a replacement of an equivalent model.
To be honest if the insurance agree to the write off and replace it they have honoured their agreement.
Can’t see what you can complain about.

Might have some good news for you.
I think this is an evolution model.
If so you can phone indesit and pay just one fixed price around £90 to repair and parts are free upto 5 years.
Just tell them it’s an evolution model it carries 5 year parts and fixed labour gtd.

If the above doesn’t work from experience i find it’s the heater that shorts out on these models and would need a new element.
Just curious what was making the noise.Was it the fan inside?
