    Hi there.

When i was working at Expert we had shed loads of these. It must be the worst appliance i came across.I think the main problem is the fridge air return vent in the bottom of the fridge. there should be a poly block in there to restrict the +1 degree air flowing back to the bottom of the freezer evaporator and causing condensation and then over iceing the evaporator .then in turn unable to fully defrost.

This might be of some help.(If all else fails it will confuse the customer)

I think you will find that the fridge gets cold from cold air blown in from the freezer. So find out where the air is blown in from it will be blocked with ice.Air normaly goes in the top and returns at the bottom.I think the fans run via the door/light switch. Check that the fan/s are running.

I`m E.A.C engineer who is still working on 4-5 of these a day.Very few are ever system faults which is where the money is.Most are electrical components which take longer to solve and dont carry the same rate.
And unles you carry the parts always a 2`nd visit. Oh and what about the doors with delivery damage.

If the noise you had was a grinding noise from the fridge and when the fridge door was opened the noise stopped it will be the Phlenim(rear poly block behind water tank)common fault.Samsung have now upgradded the material.I always change the Phlenim and evaportor sensor.Worth doing and should not cost that much unless there is a heater/sensor or thermal fuse fault. You get a 2 year warrenty with samsung.

With regards to checking the heaters. When the appliance is down in temp approx +5 degrees in fridge and -18 in freezer.switch appliance of for 30 seconds then switch back on the pcb will recognize the low temp in freezer and go in to a automatic defrost.Take the cowling off and feel heaters with your hand.
