Thats part of the problem isn’t it 🙄 .
Nobody wants to spend money on these things so tell you if its more than say £80 I’ll throw it away.
Doesn’t inspire you to spend half an hour taking the thing out (Oh! And emptying the dishwasher beforehand 👿 ), then stripping the door, panels off and testing every bl***y component when you know that the board is already damaged . The select switch plunger broke off awhile ago, so after the wife got a shock pushing the plunger stub thro’ the remaining hole theyd used a pencil to select :eeek: .

ParticipantRe: City Centre Calls
Just before Chrimble we had a call from a regular customer (Allbran I think 😆 ) who has a student flat in the town centre. I offered to call after six, the wardens finishing time, and the tennant replied can I make it after nine I’m late night shopping. 😯
I found out later that the wardens worked overtime to catch the Christmas shoppers anyway. Christmas spirit eh!Tony C

No joke K, Preston is just the same.
I got a ticket in a residents bay the other week…….delivering a washer. He hadn’t put the ticket on when I got there, and his reply when I told him why I was there…’well the car behind you could say that couldn’t they’.
Mines a Boxer, that was a Fiesta 😯 .
A friend of mine who runs a town centre retail store with a loading apron outside, had a LWB full to busting with washers etc. Warden marches in ‘I want that vehicle shifted in ten minutes’.
Oh yes; The council have recently given away the contract for traffic wardens to a private co. No surprises really then!!Tony C

oh! 😯
Another one of these.
This one has the busted shaft which can be repaired, BUT does the inner
front plate which the drum runs on which and holds the bearing seal come as a separate spare or is it a complete front plate assembly even though they are screwed together.
Just a thought.Tony C

Just to finish off this post.
Timer it was. The delay being “special order” item 😈 for one of those customers who is cleverer than thou and lets you know at every occasion.
Thought I’d let him stew over chrimble for the fact that he knew everything about this dryer….even to the point that he’d just changed the drum shaft and not thought to mention this on the original call. Mr Meddle had trapped all the heater wiring when he pulled the back panel off to get the drum out 😯 causing a stat lead to short to earth. Only became apparent when I got a fluctating megger reading.Isn’t it a great feeling when you can do him a favour and”not let the Mrs know” 😉

Wash baskets Eh!
Had a call yesterday for a blocked filter on a Hoover 6.
Turns out the washing basket had been disnittygrating leaving wicker in the clothes. Customer realised straight away what it was cos the basket had been like that for a few months!! 🙄Aren’t customers graet.

ParticipantRe: Diplomat fan oven model ADP3421
The only real way to make sure it is the element at fault is to put a meter over the terminals on the ohms range. A good element will read around 28 / 30 ohms. If its open circuit the element is dead.
ONLY attempt any work like this with the oven DISCONNECTED.If your’e not confident with doing this I’m sure you can find a friendly local repairer in the directories section.

ParticipantRe: Which Leads Me Onto…
In my case (and I suspect a good few others), UKW have taken away a frustrating brick wall which existed, caused by knowing tech information etc. was out there, but not knowing where to look for it!!
Also simple cross referancing of parts……not many suppliers or manufacturers will go out of their way to help you get that same element, brush kit, stat cheaper will they.
UKW will save you money…There’s a tag line 😉

ParticipantRe: Amusing Anecdotes & Other Tales
Had an installation a couple of days ago, VERY nice young lady, and then her mum walks in (very nicer). So after the usual polite chat about previous appliance, and how they don’t last like they used to, I got to work on one side of the machine undoing hoses while my mate attempted to unravel the mains lead under the sink. After a couple of minutes and requests for a length of string to pull the new lead back the customer sticks her head under the sink and asks, “Is there anything you’d like me to pull?” 😮
Cue sound of heads hitting underside of worktops.Tony c

Shot in the dark time.
She couldn’t be underdosing the detergent could she.
Dirt off the clothes re-settling and not being flushed away properly.
Also if theres any use of a petroleum jelly / vaseline (be careful how you ask this one 😳 ), as that can cause some weirdies, especially with door boots.
