Cheers John,
Customer was ‘helping me’. Wasn’t sure if the top was a nut and didn’t want to look a pillock in front of him 😉

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint CTD40
Went to one today with what I thought was the normal white spot stat kit and came a cropper fitting it. Question is, do they both need to be changed like the older type?
If there is a two piece (white spot cut out and NTC) kit anyone know the part number?TC

How does the inner drum come out. Presumbly the nut is the flat, circular flange (under the white plastic cover and spring clip) under the agitator.
Why do I always get oddments just as I’m about to go away 😡 . I feel duty bound to sort something out for them before I go though. 😥Tony

Thanks John,
the split in the outer tank is diectly in line with the seam of the plastic surround on top of the drum 😥 Sounds like they could need both then and neither of the parts are that cheap.

Got the cab off, to find a tear in the outer container at the top leaking when in spin. The tear has been caused by the side seam on the plastic cover on the top of the drum. Can’t really tell if the water container is out of shape or the inner drum is out of true as I can’t get the top nut off the centre spindle. Is this a common fault and which part is required the drum or the container 😕 .

ParticipantRe: HOOVER AL110 – Airlock ???
Had a couple of things cause this, one being an airlock after working on the machine. Usually just get the machine out and try and give it some movement whilst its pumping out (back and forth). Dislodged the air every time and never troubles again. The other was a Candy model which refused to pump within a programme but was ok when spin alone selected. Turned out to have too long a sump hose fitted for the model. Shorter hose fitted, works fine (took a while to fathom though 😉 )

Thanks Jackal,
The £34 will help towards the £40 quid I owe EMW and whatever the customer decides. 😥
And Connect want to use RM for their deliveries 😯 . I’ve taken to ordering a Hotpoint spider to keep the weight up on small orders.Tony C

ParticipantRe: Blank Off The Hot To Avoid This Tragedy !!
Supplied a machine recently to and had run out of caps. The hot was behind the machine so not accessible. Customer insisted he’d sort it out asap rather than me have to come back to it. He didn’t…..it did.
Got a call six weeks later, carpet in front room wet and kitchen flooring ruined by ‘your washing machine’.
The tap had been dripping for a while and had caused it. When they realised what the fault was I got me head down and left rapidly…..the sparks were visible miles away 😆
