Re: Zanussi FLA1101W Aquacycle Staining the laundry!!

Thanks… Have run it through a few boilwashes and all seems fine up to now.

No staining on consecutive washes. However now ive cleaned the pump filter etc…. The spin performance seems to somewhat lack its lustre if thats the right word?

The washing seems to be far wetter from the 1100 spin than it ever used to.
However its making all the usual noises, and i think its getting upto the 1100 stage. It has no problem with tumbling speed.

Could this be the brushes going? Its also getting a bit whiny now. It always was very quiet, especially comapred to the zanussis of nowadays!

Thanks for the advice… I will give it a go.

However Ive shone a torch in the drum and looked under the holes, cant see a thing. Would it be worthwhile looking into opening the tub to see if theres anything there, or does this have a sealed tub?

Thanks for the replies, can you tell me if the parts are going to be expensive and if the job would be difficult if it needs repairing??!

    Thanks!

    Re: Bosch, Miele or Siemens?

From what I’ve heard and seen from using my Uncles bosch and my nans Siemens, the Siemens seems to basically be the Bosch in a pretty frock!

Both performed the same, same wash rinse and spin results, same tumbling patterns etc… Just the higher price slapped on them. Mind you both my nans and uncles machines are a couple yrs old now. Things may have changed.

The engineers will know more about the machines on the current market I should imagine 😀

Sorry I couldnt be more helpful!

    Re: Bosch, Miele or Siemens?

I can speak from experience as Ive used 3 different washer dryers. Had pretty bad experiences with all!

Hotpoint WD71 which i used for a month in a holiday home, It did a a dismal performance, it spun during the drying stage which stuck laundry to the drum and often it didnt unpeel, so dried stiff, to the drum!

Zanussi WDS1183W I owned for about 2 years or so, the washing rinsing and spinning side of things were excellent. The dryer, it was ok for a washer dryer, still not the performance you would get from a standard seperate dryer, but acceptable performance.

Hoover HSW110M I owned for 5 years, just got rid of it this may, was a fantastic machine for washing, rinsing and spinning, just like the zanussi before it. Drying was of a poor standard, better than the hotpoint but worse than the Zanussi.

All in all I would go for seperates where possible. Ive used my friends Miele machines before (he has 2 miele washers, miele dryer, and miele dishwasher) All giving fantastic results, only thing i wasnt too impressed was that in cottons programmes the final spin only spends around 1&1/2 to 2 mins at max speed, whereas my Hotpoint spends anywhere from 3 to 6 mins at max speed, producing better results for line and tumble drying.

Even a compact tumble dryer (white knight(creda, hotpoint Indesit, crusader are all the same dryers inside just rebadged at different prices) I owned a rebadged Creda compact for years, its still gonig strong today, only had one repair which was a new door. Good machine really.

A cheap dryer I reccomend is the Zanussi ZDE26100W, Good performance on a relitavely tight budget.

(dont wanna steal the engineers thunder so Ill stop now!)

    Hope my say helps 😀

    Sorry, for the long post!

superfix wrote:Normally a machine with a 1600 spin will probably only spin at 1600 for the last two mins of a spin cycle at most.

My “newish” Hotpoint Ultima 1600 WT761 does a stupidly long 20 minute final spin cycle on cottons programmes, however when selected it will spin at 1600 rpm for 4 minutes!

Just over 3 months old, 2 machines and 2 repairs later its running as smooth as silk! I’m happy with the machine now. The first machine went BANG on the installation cycle! Was replaced the following day by the same model. about 6 weeks old the second machine decides to start randomly dumping black splotches onto laundry, and stained the wash paddles with the same black splotches. Indesit Co came out, couldnt understand the fault! Simply replaced all 3 wash paddles, and said it should be fine.

All been well until end of august when the pressure switch failed. It overfilled, got so high the emergency pump out kicked in, i got a H20 flashing error on the screen till it pumped all the water out then sat there with the drain pump running flashing f-08 at me. Hotpoint were out in 2 days, replaced the pressure switch, and now all is well.

It even rinses better now! The old pressure switch never allowed high fill rinses, and with only 2 rinses as standard, the outcome was pretty dismal. However with the new pressure switch fitted, rinses now fill about 4 inches up the dor improving rinsing performance greatly!

My point originally for this post was to point out that my Hotpoint does the set spin speed for 4 minutes, rather than most which just do it for around 1 to 2 mins! I then got ranting away! Hope I didnt cause anybody to die of boredom reading this!

    😀

    Re: Hotpoint WT761P DEAD!

Thanks… Will give hotpoint tomorrow to ring and arrange a decent repair/replacement date as the washing is really piling up here!

If they dont give us a decent date, I intend to drag the machine back to the store and have words…

    Thanks for the advice

    Re: Hotpoint WT761P DEAD!

It was installed correctly…. We phoned Currys yesterday and they told us that they couldnt take it back because they needed to get a recall number from Hotpoint.

I pay the for £4.49 a month plan so I dont have to pay the minimum £90 call out charge from the Indesit Company LOL

Am waiting for Hotpoint to ring tomorrow hopefully with some good news.

What is shoddy about the treatment? I cant do anything about it can I, if Currys say they cant take it back and the people at Hotpoint never ring back when they say the will!

Can you advise on any action I can take?

I’m going round in circles, much like that flipping 300 quid Hotpoint should be right now!

    Thanks for the advice 😀

Problem sorted… Flogged it on eBay!

Got a second hand whirlpool dryer from eBay to replace it. Hehe!

The Whirlpool is extremly quiet, although the reverse action is not as good as the hotpoint, the drying times are also quicker that the hotpoint!!

Any good/bad things i should be aware of with the whirlpool dryer?

Re: How long should bearings last?

My Hoover Washer Dryer which just turned 5 years old in January has been abused beyond belief.

During one year of its very hard life, it washed everyday for 10 people! Sometimes doing upto 60 loads a week! Thereafter doing washing for 5 sometimes 6/7 people equalling between 25-40 loads a week.

This machine has had several new parts, but this was due to an extremy thicj GIAS engineer being unable to identify a problem.

    Unnecesary repairs its had:
    Motor
    Drum Spider
    Several belts
    Wash timer x2
    drain pump

    Neccesary repairs its had:
One set of bearing at the start of this year (previous ones had lasted 4 years of hard labour before they started sounding like concorde running through the house)
    Dryer Timer
One new belt after the original snapped
    One set of motor brushes.

After aproximatley 5808’ish washes, I have to say that this machine has been truly outstanding and as I type this is still working away happily, washing a load of coloured towels on Cotton 60*c!

Thought I’d have a little input.

    P.S
from a previous thread where I mentioned a squeak, it was just a suspension leg, which i sprayed a little WD-40 on, good as new!
