No, that’s the compressor type. The model number should/may be on the rating plate, try removing the salad bin, it’s there sometimes on the side wall.

Appologies for the delay in replying, been to meetings for the last 2 days.

The “hot” part of the circuit, as in the heating element etc will be seperate from the water heating parts for the wash scycle, they are though, both controlled by the same pcb unit.

I got loads, PM me your details and I’ll sort one out for you. Measure the length of the capillary and I’ll try and match it with the nearest I have.

    Yep I got it 😀

I don’t quite know what plane I was thinking along there, a K54 is a freezer thermostat, a VC1 or K50 is a fridge with ice box thermostat.

    My appologies 😳

You are of course correct, they have supplied the wrong thermostat, they should have supplied a Ranco VS5 or equivelent.

Next to the heater, you’ll see the top of it inside below the lower basket where the heater enters.

To reset it requires getting access to the other side of the stat.

Please ensure you disconnect from the mains power before attempting !

    Yep, it can.

As can badly fitted doors, cracks in insulation, poorly sealed entry points for pipework, anywhere air can escape or be drawn in really.

    Re: Freezer service life

There are too many factors that can effect the expected life span of any appliance to give you a definitive answer Jaded.

In your case, a built in fridge:

Build quality of course is important.

Installation can effect this vastly due to poor air circulation among other things.

Use, opening the door constantly makes the unit work harder to maintain temperature.

Positioning, if it’s in direct sunlight, poorly ventilated kitchens, next to a cooker etc, these will all effect it.

Just a few of the main points that can effect the life span of a built in refrigeration unit.

Definitely a door latch problem. I would replace the interlock and the inner door frame, this will resolve the problem for sure 😉

    Door interlock kit – 09079906
    Inner door frame – 09077165

    Jaded, a Ranco K54 is a VC1, it’s the same thing.

    Re: blomberg fridge/freezer

If you could post up the model number for the fridge, I may be able to help you on this.

It depends who actually made it as Blomberg is Comet’s own brand name and could be one of a few manufacturers.

Re: NESN in a Spin Mode

Well, I got an apology from Carole Madden of NESN on Monday by way of a telephone call for using my name and my company’s name without my consent in this type of communication with their members and the inaccuracies contained within it.

As I wasn’t even on the recipient’s list of the said email, I didn’t even have an “official” right of reply.

Point was taken on board and duly noted I think.

So, come on NESN, if you want to boost your members and staff’s morale, communicate with the whole white goods community, not just your members.

The invite to use the forums to “talk” was and has been declined now, and in the past by NESN, due to their reluctance to “talk” to those who wish to remain anonymous on the site.

Fear of legal retribution and loss of work prompted many of those to choose pseudonyms in the first place, perhaps if you were to offer some reassurance to those who fear(ed) the previous regime by way of an initial post informing everyone that this would not occur again ?

    Re: Diplomat dishwasher

The model number would be usefull but we will assume you have the version with 5 led’s on the display. It may work by resetting the control unit like this:

Open the door, switch the dishwasher on by the on/off switch, within 3 seconds push the programme select button 4 times. The two outer lights should now be flashing (the soak and strong indicators). If they aren’t keep repeating the above procedure until they do.

Once the two outer lights are flashing, push the programme select button once more, the left hand (soak) light should now go off. With just the strong indicator flashing, switch the machine off by the on/off switch.

Remember to keep the door open all the time while doing this. Once you’ve done all that, it should be OK and you can check using the soak programme for quickness.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Dave.
