    Re: Whirlpool dishwasher control pcb’s

    Yep, got it thanks.

Nice to see someone compiling their own cross reference files like this, if only I had the time 😉

freezer_user wrote:So the heater cut-out has nothing to do with measuring temperature; it is just to protect the heating element?

Mainly to protect the appliance itself in case it overheated.

freezer_user wrote:And the defrost probe determines when the system is defrosted and tells the pcb to cut off the heater?

Probably, although it will be timed by the pcb as well no doubt.

freezer_user wrote:I have been looking under the flap at the bottom of the panel in the freezer; i can just see the bottom of the coils; in order to check it is defrosting. I can see small icicles at the bottom, which looks like it has indeed been melting frost. Is it normal to see small icicles or should the coils be totally free of frost and ice if auto-defrost is working properly.

    Clear generally.

freezer_user wrote:Also, do you have any idea where the thermostat for the refridgerator located?

There isn’t a thermostat, there will be another probe (thermistor) in the fridge somewhere.

There is a specific compound available to us as gas engineers, he should have this, if you let us know your postcode, someone here may well be close to you and able to assist further.

DentedPorsche wrote:I’ve never had a flow meter fail yet.

    We have !

Yep, the flow meter had failed in that the small fuse on the pcb inside the meter itself had blown, presumably when the motor shorted the main pcb.

Even better though, we had one in stock from years ago I ordered as van stock when the Dolphin dishwashers 1st came out 😀

    Re: Ocean APM6825 from MFI

The little black component will be the heater cut-out almost certainly and as it isn’t shown on the exploded diagram or the wiring diagram I can only assume it comes with the heater as an assembly, but don’t hold me to it 😉

The white device will be what is described as the defrost probe and monitors the freezer temperature.

Price details as follows (from Brandt as they are considerably cheaper then MFI on this occasion):

    PCB £72.43
    Defrost probe £33.98
    Defrost heater £55.95

    Those all inc VAT.

Re: AEG Gas hob Model KG 640 Part No 611793950 Serial No 314

The spare gas tap is now obsolete from AEG.

It’s doubtfull that any responsible Corgi registered engineer would be happy swapping second hand parts around to be honest, although some taps were OK to dismantle and repair/regrease quite safely.

I would suggest you call an engineer to have a look at the hob for you and advise further.

    Re: Ocean APM6825 from MFI

It’s made by a company called Brandt, they manufacture a lot of appliances that get “rebadged” in this country and sold through various outlets.

You would appear to have a defrost problem, check the defrost heater for continuity and/or obvious signs of damage, apart from that the defrost cycle is controlled electronically by a pcb and thermal probe.

I can easily obtain any spares you may need.

Re: Fan Motor for Whirpool Oven

It’s OK those numbers are enough in this instance 😀

The fan motor is £62.98 inc VAT and postage, 3-5 working days delivey time.

If you’d like one ordered and sent on to you, let me know and I’ll sort it out for you.

I am assuming this is the fan motor inside the oven rather than the cooling fan on top ?

    Re: The Engineer’s Opinon – 2

Well, I’ve just noticed in the public forum that a customer has changed her mind and cancelled an order for one washing manufacturer in preference to another after being given some sound advice by one of the guys.

So, our opinions and knowledge are taken on board by the general public and we can have some sway on their choices with “the engineers opinion”, it should make some interesting reading when results start to come back.

Re: homark cooker hood charcoal and grease filter

You can use a universal dual type and lay the sheet of activated carbon on top of the grease filter, if you have a circular plastic one remove and discard it and just use the “lay flat” type, it’s cheaper as well.

There’s one in the shop here if you want to have look, click on the link below.

    Re: Hotpoint Refrigeration T’Stats

I know it may be blindingly obvious but it catches a few out, the terminals on the larder and fridge/freezer stats now switch on 6 and 4 as opposed to 3 and 4 on the older Ranco stats. This changed some years ago now so I assume that we all are aware of it, but I still tell all the public customers who buy them over the counter as they only bring them back whinging that they are faulty.

By the way, you can put the 250341077 in the larder fridges as well if the capillary can be “lost”.

No suggestions for the ice box fridges though 😕

Maybe a bad batch of stats ?
