It’ll either be the PCB or the fridge thermistor as there’s nothing elase control-wise in it really.

The pcb is about £30 and the sensor about £10 from memory.

    Re: Beware Of Trojan Horses

Well, here’s part of the reaction, some of a reply I got from Joanne today:

I’m sorry if you feel the email sent by Carole was a ‘PR exercise’ I am sure
that was not her intention. I believe her aim for NESN is to have an open
an honest approach in all areas, quite a contrast to the ‘secret squirrel’
company prior to the changes, and one I wholly agree with.

So what the fuck was it then if it wasn’t a PR excercise?

I have no objection if they want to go about raising morale for the troops, but they sure as hell shouldn’t be quoting mine or my company’s names in any communication, especially given that the information was inaccurate and without asking, also as I wasn’t included in the recipients list of that email from them last week, I don’t even have an “official” right of reply.

I asked for a response from CM as well, she’s on holiday apparently for another week or two, so I will be putting it to her also.

I’ve checked the info I have and the model you have isn’t listed I’m afraid.

It may be an older model. Caremark who used to supply spares for the Homark appliances are no longer and a lot of Homark parts are quite hard to obtain.

I would suggest you attempt a repair on the pcb, even if it was easy to get hold of it won’t be cheap.

F06 means “Programme selector management error”.

This could mean quite a few things really, have you tried resetting it as per the instruction manual ? This often solves many of these errors, especially the software related one’s like this.

Quite, and this was a DIY repair, no labour involved and he still didn’t want to spend out on out 🙁

A customer on the phone this morning prompted me to remember something in conversation which popped up last week regarding this particular comment.

Customer today with an Indesit W103, bearing failure after 2 years, inner bearing desintigrated to such an extent that the customer could not remove the shell and phoned me for a price of replacement backplate unit. After determining which of the two he needed, I quoted him the list price of £45.66 inc VAT, at which point he stopped me there with the reply “The machine only cost £180, I’m not spending that much on it !”

So, in reply to your comment about reducing BER machines by increasing spares info or even cost (the backplate isn’t that expensive is it ?) I would encourage you to talk at a high level with the people who make the decisions on the selling price of the appliance in the first place.

Had this customer paid a “realistic” price for the appliance he would almost certainly have been quite happy to pay for the replacement backplate.

Increasing the longevity of any appliance has substantial benefits for all of us……..

Further comment from Brian on this would be most welcome.

Lawrence wrote:How many calls do we get that require us to ring a mobile beforehand ,If you are anything like us an ever increasing amount I bet !

Don’t start me off on this little nugget Lawrence 😉

Basically the way I see it is this: This was always going to happen and due to customer demand we will have to go along with it to keep customers happy, but at the end of the day it all costs money and if customers request this service they will have to pay for it.

I take it in to account when I review our annual service call rate and build it in to the price on chargeable calls.

I do however take the hump on insurers/manufacturers/WP’s who only give us a mobile number to phone or insist we phone 30 mins B4 etc then when I advise them that a rate review is required, refuse to enteratain it.

So, we have increased costs piled on us but we don’t get a rate increase to compensate……….

Where have I heard all this before then ? 😉

I told you not to get me started !

Re: Fan Motor for Whirpool Oven

The price we are both quoting is the genuine Whirlpool price, i just added a bit to allow me to post it to you as well, which your local guy won’t need to do.

There may will be an alternative, remove the motor, take a piccie of it and email it to me, most of the Italian fan motors you can manage with three or four to fit pretty much all of them, all about the £30 touch.

    Re: lg wm1465fhd

UE just means an unblanaced load, no more than that really.

It may be on an unevan/unsuitable floor or possibly the shock absorbers need replacing with the newer modified type to decrease the vibration problems.

More likely it’s a customer use problem though and they not loading it correctly, even though they say it does it empty (I’ve heard that one from a few customers before ;))

The UE error is detected from the tacho sending unevan pulses to the control pcb, so it could be that, worse case scenario is a faulty pcb.

A bit of a “suck it and see” one really to be honest.
