    LOL GOOD ONE RICHARD,

Your trade cred is good, as we know you’ve done the job from both ends,
not like some of the bean counters and graduates who would’nt know how to put a plug top on, who try to tell us how to do our job.
Plus your one of the few network guy’s with enough bottle to come on this site in the first place. Respect ! 😉

Bonza, I have always read your post’s avidley and 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time I have not had to post because you posted what I was thinking anyway.
But this is the 1{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time that I have to disagree with you.
Do you really think that the sorry sittuation we find ourselves in, is to be laid at the door of ukwhitegoods ? I SAY NO !
It is as a direct result of corporate clients not paying bills on time and of unfair percentage deductions being taken from agents monthly payments, that kicked this little lot off.
We were being placed in the impossible position of subsidising corporate entities far larger than we will ever be.
We were expected to pay our spares bill’s on time or face the prospect of being put on stop. Whilst at the same time we were expected to accept part payment from the people who were administering the work. We were rightly expected to pay our staff on time, pay our ever increasing fuel bills on time and were still expected to maintain the high levels of service that our corporate clients seem to take for granted.
When at long last some decided they had endured enough and threw in the towel and tried to warn others not to fall into the same trap. Thier reward, was threats of legal action.
So please bonza could you retract the three words I have highlighted in you’re quote, as I think they are unjust. Put the blame firmly on the ones who deserve it. I think a certain line from a Shakespearian play sums it all up quite nicley ” A POX ON BOTH YOUR HOUSES ! ” 😯

well done Indi looks like a bit of constuctive criticism appears to have done the trick ! It is nice to see that some networks can
react positively to a bit of stick without running off to thier solicitors office.

    Re: Bernstein!

I can only speak for myself but when we checked the account for Caremark when this news went up on the site we are almost at the point of ballance, which is not the usuall case when a firm goes to the wall.

This cannot be said of other companies in the history of this trade, who did not go bust but just simply decided to switch networks or service providers because they thought they could get thier work done 10 pence cheaper per call. These companies did a lot more damage to my firm.
I had issues with Caremark in my time just like the rest of you. I was’nt too impressed when they decided to take payments for cash calls out of warranty and pay us the standard in guarantee rate. But maybe that was a case of the writting going up on the wall.
Caremark was always a bit slow paying, but up till this point you got it eventually.
I simply cannot understand the mentality of anyone taking delight in the recievership of any company in this trade. As it means that some service provider somewhere is bound to loose out.
I therefore can only assume that Mr Trubish is not a service provider. In conclusion could I remind him of a line from the good book….As ye sow, so shall ye reap.

What an enviable position to be your own work provider and set your own rate, it’s just that I’m not to sure if it’s legal.

Most new type dishwashers encorporate an anti flood device in the very bottom of the machine to automatically pump out, the machine if it detects water in the base of the machine. Therefore it could mean that your appliance is leaking water into the base where the components are situated.
I would strongley advise that you call in an approved engineer if you are not an engineer yourself, as water and electricty can be a very dangerous mixture.

One of the first things that work providers ask us to prove before they give us any work is for annual copies of our public liability insurance.
Should we not ask them to show us proof of a policy that they pay for to cover any bad debts that they are responsible for should they go bust.

    Just a thought 😉

I would strongly recommend leisure cookers, they are a little more expensive, not that much better than the rest as thier all much of a muchness but should the appliance require a repair at least you won’t have to wait for ever to get hold of spares.

    Re: UK Whitegoods

As nearly a quarter of a million hits have been taken by the ukwhitegoods site it is quite obvious that a lot of people are taking notice of what we have to say.
I was just thinking that it might be good to run a “MACHINE OF THE YEAR” award given by ukwhitegood. voted for by us the independant repair trade. We could have members doing reviews on washers and have different catogories. who better to advise the general public than the people responsible for keeping them going.
Remember which magazine who could’nt tell the difference between a crosslee badged whiteknight/zannussi was the same bloody machine and gave it vastly different ratings.
We could have awards for the best engineered/ servicability / availabilty & price of spares ( sorry Servis you’ve already lost ) We could even have the ‘SKIP DODGER OF THE YEAR’ award for the worst macine on the market ( why did an indesit dishwasher spring to my mind just then)
The posibilities are simply endless. Well you wanted idea’s seems I’m on a roll, for god’s sake somebody stop me.

    Re: UK Whitegoods

Might it be an idea to put up post code maps of the U.K. and mark off areas covered by members of ukwhitegoods, perhaps even three maps to cover all the three skill sets. So that anyone can click on the area or post code of thier locality and see a list of All ukwhitegoods members covering thier area. Obviousley stating that all of the members adhear to the set level of service quality that was laid down when we set the site up. I don’t think anyone would have any objection to that, as we would all then be compeeting on a level playing field. I am not proposing
set national charges I hasten to add, just set national quality of service.
There would obviousley have to be a disclaimer to ukwhitegoods as it would be a self administering code of practice. But people could be advised that any member found to be breaking the guidelines would be removed from the site if they attracted too many complaints.
Dont shoot me down in flames its only a suggestion, that might or might not work. I do think it’s worthy of disscussion though.
