Perhaps thier just looking to set up or resurect thier own call centre again. as they did away with thier own when hotpoint did it all for them.
I think they would have a hell of a job to create a national service setup of experianced enginners we would only have to remind our enginners how quickly they can change thier minds and just walk away, leaving chaos behind them. who the hell could feel secure working for an organisation like that. they have changed thier minds at least 4 times to my knowledge in the last five years ! And lets face it how long would it take them to train thier own engineers to be of any use.

May I congratulate Ted on providing his customers with a service second to none. A standard that no manufacturer that I know of, at this point in time could emulate. In fact two manufacturers to my certain knowledge are actually quoting thier customers four weeks for a first visit. They cant’ do with ten engineers, what we used to do for them with four !

I will use Teds list and numbering to equate my service standard.

    1, as per Ted

    2, ” ” “

    2a, ” ” “

    2b, ” ” “

2c, I am affraid I am not prepaird to give a specific timed appointment.
we are all aware of jobs that can sometimes go pear shaped. Or indeed the reverse when the day goes exceptionally well and you are stuck outside someones home waiting for them to arrive. No A.M. P.M. is as far as I am prepaird to go.

3, Saturdays are regarded as overtime by my staff. therefore provided there is enough work to fill a Saturday and the customers are prepaired to pay the addional cost involved. and an engineer is willing to work the on a Saturday Then I dont have a problem.

    4, As per Ted

5, Is an unrealistic proposal for the numerous one man bands within our organisation as well as the smaller service providers, especially in very rural areas.

I would like to give a vote of thanks, to the trio of uk whitegoods members mentioned above. Who took the time ,truoble and effort to organise an imaganative, informative, and inspired venue and agenda for the members of this site. It was indeed an exellent oppurtunity for uk whitegoods members to freely voice, and share thier mutual thoughts, concerns and hard earned experiance of our industry and its future direction.
We can all sometimes feel cut off from the rest of the world as we strive to keep our buisnesses both viable and sucessful. So it was refreshing to meet so many like minded souls and fellow members from all over the uk.
I would like to thank Niel, who’s chairmanship of the inaugeral meeting was nothing short of inspired, as he kept the agenda flowing whilst giving all attendees fair oppurtunity to express thier views and seek a concensus of opinion on most topics.

Dave, who’s ability to seek out an excellent venue where after a long trip we could all enjoy a good lunch, fair pint and more than satisfactory, well equipt meeting room, could only be surpassed by his inability to find the venue himself ! LOL (only jokin’) Thanks Dave.

Last but by no means least a special vote of thanks should go to the man himself K.Watt. who’s dogged determination over the last two years or so to provide a platform for ALL UK WHITEGOODS independant service providers to freely express their views and concerns over the future of our trade.

Of the social evening along with new aquaintances from DASA I can only say that the hiliarious good natured banter aboard the good ship & floating resteraunt ‘East‘ and the top up afterwards at the Queensgate hotel
would have been memerable if only I could remember it ! LOL

Could I strongly recommend all uk whitegoods members to attend the D.A.S.A. A.G.M at Peterborough in October I’m sure there will be details posted on the site shortly. I am given to understand that there will be an open forum for all to attend.
    Regards to all Del

Could I start by confirming that the suggested new location for your washing machine is not in your bathroom as this would be potentially leathal if it were. You will find that most manufacturers will quote a minimum and maximum water pressure measured in bar, on the specification data in your instruction book.
It sometimes takes a minimum pressure to help keep the water valve open once it is energised. You would be well advised to check this before you resite your machine. hope this helps.

The situation of phoning customers has gone from the sublime to the rediculous. To where we were taking sometimes as many as three or four numbers for a customer rather than risk an abortive call. and as sod’s law states it’s usually the last number you ring, that you get a response. We recentley finished with Merloni, who’s customers for whatever reason ? seemed to be the worst offenders of giving multiple contact no’s. Our average phone bills whilst working for Merloni was £900
per quarter between B.T. & Vodaphone this has now reduced to £440.
Admittedley our turnover has reduced but we have actually found that our NET Proffit has increased. From these facts it can be prooved that this is a cost that we the service providers are faced with and which, imho should at least be shared by the work provider.

Is this not a crafty way to bring in late payments again by another method. Should you resort to litigation you will be the one at fault for accepting the partial payment. Do you refuse partial pament ? (as we all tend to think that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush)
I wonder how you stand in law, are you entitled to interst on the unpaid part of the payment or none because you accepted it in the first place ?
Might be another suggested topic for the office of fair trade to investigate !
as it is becoming to be more the norm. 🙄

From the symptoms you have given, it would seem that although the water is entering the machine/s it is not entering them quickley enough.
Your new washing machine has a fault default mode that will cause the timer knob to keep clicking round if it detects a fault. The reason for the fault maybe that not enough water is entering the machine within the normal time allowed, causing the electronic control to ‘time out’ and default to fault mode. Double check that you are getting full water pressure at the ‘Y’ piece connector on your water supply.

I am looking for some advice on Built in Double Ovens and Hobs.

We are presently designing our new kitchen and we have been looking at either a Smeg built in Double Oven and Hobs Unit or the 70cm Smeg Opera Range cooker.

Both options work out at around £1100.

Just wondering what people thought of Smeg? or is there anyone else we should look at?

    Thanks in advance

    american style fridge freezers

    Hi Rob,

You will find that more and more manufacturers are moving towards including the larger type appliances to thier product ranges.
Bosch, Whirlpool, Maytag, these should be worth a try !

    Good look hunting Del

THAT IS ALSO MY UNDERSTANDING OF IT AND THE VERY REASON THAT MANUFACTURERS REFUSE POINT BLANK TO GIVE OUT ANY TECHNICAL ADVICE TO CUSTOMERS IN ANY THING WHERE A TOOL IS INVOLVED TO GAIN ACCESS TO AN APPLIANCE THEREFORE TO BE AS PROTECTED AS THEM, WE SHOULD DO LIKEWISE !
