    Hi all

Thanks for your feedback and enthusiam for the washing machine we unveiled on Friday.

I can confirm they are made by Asko and they will have 10 years parts and labour cover (in a domestic kitchens and three years in semi commercial premisses (hairdressers, guest houses etc) and will be underwritten by an FSA insurrer (though extact details are being still being negociated as is the price).

This is an additional product to the existing machine which has performed well in terms of sales and reliability and will remain as our 5 year guaranteed offering.

Also following feedback on Fridays meeting we have plumped to supplement the Asko made washer with an Asko made dryer rather than dishwasher under the same insurrance package.

We hope to bring the first machines in to the country in July.

More details are available on request.

If you are an existing ISE stockist we’ll visit you with the new machine over the coming weeks if you are not an ISE stockist but are interested in becoming one let us know and we will contact you.

    Hi All

I learned from DHL this morning that due to a fallout between producer compliance schemes ref collection of waste from council depots. THERE WILL BE NO NEED TO PROVIDE WEEE EVIDENCE UNTIL AFTER 1st JULY.

This means for those of you who plan to do take back we have 3 months rather than two weeks to get things up and running with DHL.

So don’t worry about holding on to waste for evidence unless you have the storage.

    Regards

    Re: WEEE for ISE

    Hi All

I have been driving round the country to meet as many people face to face as possible to discuss what action you need to take to comply with the WEEE regulations at minimal cost and inconvenience to yourself.

If you have not seen or heard from me recently I am either expecting to see you on Friday at Sibson (specifically Ian, Lawerance, John, Geoff and Chris) or about to call you today (to see you in London next week).

    OPTIONS & ACTIONS

    1. You only sell ISE – We will take retailer responsibility for your WEEE by adjusting the accounting process slightly.

    Action

If you have not already done so call to confirm and we will do the rest.

    2. You are going to go retailer takeback (as per the trials in Manchester & Hull)

    Action

e-mail your intention to info@valpac.co.uk – when you enter the website cick on DTS registration then complete the form to ‘declare in store takeback’. The sooner you do this the less likely you are to be audited.

I wil be in touch prior to 1st of April with your specific phone number and minimum collection quanity for free removal. If you are on the trial just keep going, you are already compliant.

    3. You don’t want to do instore takeback and sell multi brands

You must join Valpac same web address as above but fill in the DTS registration form. This will cost £200 or £750 depending on your turnover.

Note : If your business is purely rental and reconditioning machines you have no WEEE liability for carcus disposel, however contact me if you have not already done so because you may benefit from the legislation by registering as a designared collection facility. If you are in this market you are in a very strong position, worth a call.

I hope this information helps, If you have any specific questions call me on 07979 540 916. If not I will be going through the options with everyone at Sibson.

    Re: Happy Birthday

    Jim,

Thank you for your birthday greetings

It’s been the scariest year of my carheer. To bring a new product to a saturated market makes you question year sanity.

But working with people geniune people like you make it worth it.

We will be enternally greatfull to all the agents who have pushed the machine in year one, in many cases on nothing more than blind faith. They have allowed us to establish a base from which (with continued support) we can really push forward, thus generating funds which Ukwhitewgoods can re-direct into further the cause of the indipendant service agent.

    See you Friday

    Nice ones,

Super Duty / Heavy duty could work,

DryISE would make a great strap line for the literature,

I am after a name which differentiates the two ranges, I am working towards washer, dish and dryer with 10 yrs cover and washer dryer, dish dryer with 5 yrs cover.

Looks like we are there at the 10 year end but we can not find any decent mid range dishwashers or dryers that you would recommend.

Keep the suggestions coming, if you like the idea of the Askos wait until you see the products.

    Fair points Andy,

The ISE customer proposition is based on much more than the machine itself (a point you made in your own write up but ignored by Which), personal service and the environmental benefits of long life span are values that the general public appreciate and where ISE’s competetive advantage is at it’s strongest.

We had no reason to expect a bad review from Which but having seen the slatings they have dished out to other people we’d be lying if we said we were not relieved.

This review does give us further credible endorsement of our product quality and allows us to continue with the business plan undamaged, therefore I am very happy with it; though we will request they use our propper picture and get our name right.

As for Ken’s sense of inpending doom – I’ll let him speak for himself on that.

    Re: WEEE for ISE

    Hi all,

Just a quick note to confirm ISE has joined Valpac (retailer compliance scheme) and the DHL (producer compliance scheme)

This means ISE agents can comply with WEEE free of charge via retailer take – back for which I will arrange free collection of old machines from your premisses; or by adopting the system used by the non V.A.T registered ISE agents where by ISE take on your WEEE obligation for your ISE sales.

I am now going to dash round to see you all to confirm what your preferred option is (expect a phone call soon if you have not had one already) and set you up prior to full implementation of the directive on July 1st.

    You may wonder why I have put so much effort into this;

Well the answer is simple; if we all use the system set up by the big retailers and manufacturers where we all comply via the councils you were all looking at a bill of between £200 and £1500 per year just to register and ISE were looking at a bill of over £20,000 next year for recycling machines equivelent to my market share. No cost to you and less than a £1000 to us is a good result.

    Cheers

Re: Which Review Of The CI555

    Hi Guys

Interesting debate so I thought I would interceed with some context.

Public Relations is not like advertising in that you do not control the message.

    This has pluses and minuses;

The negatives are that what the independent media say you often don’t like or you disagree with. However the big plus is that their view of you is independent and seen as such by the general public; thus giving the positives much more credability.

On balance the Which report was positive and while a polite request to get our name right is appropriate there is nothing to gain over arguing over their perceptions of our machine.

The comment about it being a good first attempt leaves the door nicely open to us for the new ISE machines that we will be bringing to market in the summer.

I feel that overall the report gives us an additional tool to use when persuading prospective customers to purchase an ISE machine. This has certainly been the case on line where we have seen a marked rise in sales since this report was published on Thursday.

I did feel a bit sorry for Ken with your posts I normally have a go at him for being to passionate and getting involved in battles we don’t need to fight and here he has got a bit of a beating by being too pragmatic.

    Re: WEEE for ISE

    Hi Ron,

Great you can know see this forum.

DEFRA have confirmed to me the way we operate for none VAT registeed ISE agents make ISE the retailer. This means you have no WEEE obligation and were you to be audited, you would refer them to us and ISE would cover you through our compliance scheme memberships.

Don’t worry about our tonnage I will handle that through agents who have enough storage to cover the minimium five machines required for us to get free collection.

Therefore it’s up to you whether you take machines away as part of the service or not. If you do I will give you the address of somewhere local to you can drop them of free of charge when the locations of all the non council run AFTs and DCFs are known.

That’s interesting, did not know that had the ‘burning smell’. I’ll ask Sean to check it out when we get it back.

    Re: Burning smell

    hi steve,

I have come into this late, but as ever myself and Ken are on the same wave length.

I have responded to Mr Lindly who e-mailed us (I have copied you in on my reply) saying we will swap it out and test the other one to understand what is wrong.

As Ken said we have had nothing like this before, so we need get to the bottom of it.

The only faults we have had out of getting close to a 1000 machines is a handlful of boards and a couple of machines that were constantly filling on installation that Sean is currently testing in Anglesey. As we did with the 3 customers who did not understand how the out of balance work we play with the machine until we get to the bottom of it and as with that we will publish the results in a Tech bulletin.

I hope the exchange sorts out Mr & Mrs Lindly. We will post what the problem was in line with our policy on openness.

    Regards

    Hi Andy

I dealt with the customer involed friday and his comments are valid in that the by leading with the packed rather than unpacked dimentions we can confuse people just scanning through the website.

We will alter the layout to make it clearer

    Hi Guys

A quick update this month basically following on from Ken’s post.

The centralisation of administration is important as we have now out grown our ability to borrow people to work on ISE from Kevin, Ken, Sean and david’s businesses. Thanks to your efforts our sales to date have allowed us to now stand alone and make preporation to expand the product portfolio in 2007.

The negociation on a semi commercial machine is rumbling on and a tumble dryer and a top quality dish washer are closer than on the horizon.

The WEEE directive is a huge risk to ISE as if you are charged £300 to £1000 each just to join a compliance scheme there is a chance that service agents will simplly stop selling. After a lot of time and effort we have a ‘cunning plan’ for free compliance, trials of which start in Yorkshire and the North West this week.

The Ad in the sunday telegraph was good learning for us. We got enough sales and leads to cover the cost despite the artwork not shrinking to well. The big positive was that the core message ‘repair is the green alternative to replacement’ works with the general public.

The long awaited PR is still on the cards I need to get quotes from Friends of the Earth (who are being supportive of us and the DTi (who are not) then the journalist can take the story to the editor of the express.

    Happy new year,

    John
