    Re: Guide to Electric Kettle

    Hi

The older style of jug kettles used to leak from the bottom of the water level guage. The newer ones have a guage which is moulded to the body which has solved the problem. The traditional style kettles very rarely leak.

Best brands? In stainless steel I would go for Philips and Dualit for a quality item or the Morphy Richards, Russell Hobbs and Kenwood. In coloured plastic all the above, just steer clear of brands you have not heard of as chances are they will just be far eastern imports.

Re: Miele – is it worth the 2nd mortgage?

    Hi MrC

Miele appliances in general are produced to a very high standard, the washing machines are no exception. The W1512 while it only has a 5kg load and it is the base machine in the range has no less when it comes to the build factor.

All Miele washing machines come with an automatic 10 year guarantee against breakdown on drum, outer tub, axle and bearings. Door hinge is guaranteed for the lifetime of the machine. You would be responsible for the labour charge if any of the above occured after the five year guarantee. There is also a lifetime guarantee on the enamelled outer panels too. All this is in addition to the promotional guarantee currently offered. As far as the naming part goes Miele have been producing appliances since 1899 so I guess they know a thing or two 😉 .

Is it worth the second mortgage? It Sure is.

    Hi Gareth

I`ve checked all the suppliers we use and some we don`t as well. Sorry to say they all seem to be about the 1775 high by 905 wide. Can you gain any extra space or is it time for a makeover.

I can`t find anything, either freestanding or built in. Bosch produce a height reduction lid which is only a couple of mm thick which in turn takes about 2.5cm off the height but that does not help the width problem 😉 Methinks Martins suggestion of a slimline is going to be the cheapest option. To reduce the height you could remove the feet ❓

Distributed through DART IIRC. Had one here to have a look at. Sent it straight back, very basic and not well made at all.

The other problem being that if it cannot be repaired and the customer wants a replacement then some timberwork will be required to accomodate either a 45 or 60cm wide machine. Also the plumbing may need to to be rerouted as well.

    Re: vented tumble dryer

Sorry to say but Zanussi no longer produce a side vented dryer at all only rear. In fact they onbly list one vented machine which is the TD4213W :rolls: .

The only one I can find which is sensor drying and can be vented from either rear or left side is the Bosch WTV74306. Or as has been already mentioned the Miele T224 which ticks the same boxes 😉 .

    Hi Kirkie

That`ll be something like a Beko WMA510 or an Indesit WIXL143S, not the best quality of appliance in the world but for the price…….. If you can up the budget by around £50 you can then get the Bosch WAE2416 again in silver and with a two year guarantee. Much better appliance and better back up service too.

Simon and Garfunkel, Genesis, ELO, Cream, Marvin Gaye, Free, T.Rex, ELO, Moody Blues and Rod Stewart.

Saw ELO in concert a couple of months ago Greg absolutely brilliant. A bit of the new stuff off the latest album plus all the oldies.
