ModeratorRe: COMET vs CURRYS
The comments I get from customers is they are about as bad as each other or as good as each other. Depends on which way you want to look at it 😉 .

ModeratorRe: BUILT IN DOUBLE OVEN HELL
Hi
Options that I can think of would be either buy just a single oven with no fan which many manufacturers call a static oven. Another option would be to buy a double oven which has a multifunction main oven where you can choose either fan or conventional cooking. If you choose the latter on the appliance, you could set the control to conventional and either tape it over or tell her that the control isn`t needed. Unfortunately you cannot just disconnect the fan on a fan oven.

ModeratorRe: Has it gone a bit quiet or is it just me?
Service calls are quiet this week but appliances are doing fine thank goodness 😀 . I think suppliers are quiet too as I have had loads of fax`s, emails and phone calls with special offers etc etc.

Hi
The best brands to consider for build and after sales service would be the Maytag, Admiral and GE appliances.

Ok rant over. ill look at the Bosch, but have read on here that there have been probs with them too, are they ironed out now ?The only Bosch model with the problem is the KGN34V00GB, which is why to be on the safe side I did not mention it 😉

Or would i be better to get a non frost free model ?
A non frost free machine is easier and cheaper to repair, just depends how important frost free is to you.

What make would you recoment i go for ? Is LG any good ? or would a Bosch be a better bet.
I definetly do not want a Hotpoint though.
Mike
Hi Mike
Leave the LG alone would be my advice. Take a look at the Bosch KGN34X00GB which is about the same capacities as the Hotpoint. Comes with a two year warranty. There are others in the frost free range 😉 Also the Siemens appliances which come from the same stable as Bosch. Try the KG32U123GB or if you want stainless steel then the KG34NX90GB the latter has a five year warranty.

ModeratorRe: Can you recommend me a new washing machine?
Stay with the German brands such as Siemens and Bosch (both part of the same group). Siemens base model comes with a five year warranty 7kg load and 1400 spin.
Bosch have a two year guarantee. While these are not quite as high spec as the Siemens they are good all round work horses. Most have a 6kg load and the odd one has a large 7kg load. Spin speeds are from 1200 to 1600.
If you want to go the extra mile then the Miele range, the build and quality is superb. These come with a minimum 2 year guarantee on base models up to a 10 year guarantee on the top of the range machines. Prices from £550 to about £1000. 6kg machines are available with spin speeds from 1200 to 1600 as well.

ModeratorRe: Best make of fridge/freezer?
Hi
Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to sales and service, For all round build features and after sales service I like Bosch. Siemens and Hotpoint appliances. Looking at the spec of the Samsung you have I have found some machines that fall into the same category. Bosch KGN39V00GB, Siemens KG32U193GB. Both of these are from the same group and come with a two year guarantee and the interiors are uncluttered giving maximum storage space. The Hotpoint FF200T is a nice looking machine on the outside but the inside of the fridge is a little to cluttered for my liking, but the freezer baskets I do like. if I had to choose one then I would probably go the the Bosch.
Good hunting

Most of the products are made by Electrolux, and the rest are Gorenje and badged Frigidaire.

They say you learn something new each day and this is mine for today. I did not know about the Gorenje link to Frigidaire.
Thanks Alex 🙂

A total embarrasment during the time in the competition, let themselves and the fans down I`m afraid.
