Oooh – one other question occurs to me. Will servicing be so much more expensive because it’s Miele? Parts and presumably labour too because they use computer etc….

    Hi Phil

Servicing of Miele appliances is more specialist than some of the other manufacturers so I guess that will be reflected in the labour charges. But having purchased a quality machine breakdowns should be fewer we hope……….

the 977 sounds good – but why did they get rid of the cutlery tray? 2 steps forward, 1 step back???

    Phil

It would appear it`s a case of cutlery baskets for the base model and the tray for mid and upper range. We use the good old basket and I must admit even packing two pieces per slot still gives a good wash. Not as good as the results I have seen from the tray though.

Do you happen to know the difference between the 975 and the 977?

The same machine on the outside and the same spec as far as I can see.
Only difference is the 975 has a cutlery tray above the top basket. Each item sits in its own slot ensuring excellent wash results. The 977 has had a basket upgrade whereby the top basket water feed is under the basket as opposed to the top and the bottom basket has fold down plate racks.

And would you go for this low-end Miele with 2 year warranty over the top-end AEG with 5 years?

    thanks
    Phil

Personally I would be more than happy to purchase the Miele over the AEG. All the other criteria you are looking at will be basically the same as the AEG.

Oh yes they are Phil πŸ˜‰

The G977SC is replacing the 975. If you decide on the 975 see if you can get a deal on it πŸ˜‰ .

On a positive note the MIELE vacuum we bought (probably our most abused appliance) has run perfectly for over 5 years (now that’s tempting fate :rolls: ).

    Hi Fraser

You paid a premium price for a good quality product from a high end supplier, hence how good it is. Work the same equation with the other products and while you will pay a higher price you will get longevity of life and guarantees too. Miele guarantees start at two years for the base machines and up to a whopping ten years for the top end units. Coupled with an after sales service which is one of the best around and you have a great package.

For the dishwasher I looked at the Bosch SRS46E22 and Miele G606SC Plus. Is the Miele worth twice that of the Bosch, as it doesn’t come with any better guarantee?

I take it you mean the Bosch SRS45E22 as there is no 46E22 πŸ˜‰ . The Miele has the unique sliding cutlery tray above the top basket, which gives a little more room in the bottom one. Apart from that the Miele uses 2 litres of water less a wash and about half of one pence less in energy. The Miele model is about to be superceded to the G1102SC same features as far as I am aware. Go for the Miele worth it in the long run.

For the fridge freezer I’m looking for as bigger fridge and freezer capacity as possible for a 60cm width as possible in white.

    Thanks

The Biggest capacity machines I can find in 60cm wide and in white are the Bosch KGN39V00 which has a 8.3cu ft fridge and 2.8cu ft freezer, Hotpoint FF200T 8.2 and 2.8 and last but not least the Whirlpool ARC7612 which is 8.4 over 3.3. from the three I personally prefer the Bosch as the interior is uncluttered compared to the Hotpoint and the layout is more functional compared to the others.

The build on that model is probably the best I have seen in that price range and the colour options are good too. We have sold quite a few of these and not had any complaints on this model at all.

    Hi

Sorry to answer a question with lots of questions but………..are you looking for the American side by side style or the usual fridge on top and freezer underneath arrangement? What physical size? Is there any colour option preferred?

Answers to these will hopefully point us in the right direction for you πŸ˜‰

    Hi

No conspiracy just a case of the manufacturers wanting there share of the cake πŸ˜‰ in what is the most popular size of cooker.

Something like these perhaps? Any particular colour?

Hotpoint EW84 available in white, black, graphite and stainless steel ticks most boxes for most consumers spec here. The EW74 slightly down spec if you don`t want all bells and whistles.

Than all you have to think about is who to invite to the dinner party πŸ™‚

Hoover disk says that the part number you have is correct Paul. Only thing I can think is perhaps the paddles are in the incorrect bin :?. Perhaps a phone call to connect may reveal something.

    Re: washer/drier advice

Miele strive to achieve good consumption levels on all appliances and do produce machines as “green” as possible. The data is from the current 2007 catalogue edition 1. If you want to confirm the info they can be reached on 01235 554455.
