    Re: Britannia Bought?

GDHA have bought it so they can introduce a premium built in appliance range. They wont touch the britannia range cooker set up.

Built in or freestanding? If you have a 60mm gap then any will fit, cant see a problem there at all

    Re: trade qualifications ?

i could write 1000’s of words on this, i have before, but it all boils down to money! The only reason that service providers pass work to bad engineers is because its cheeper, they dont care if that engineer visits 6 times, they dont pay recalls! And they certainly dont care about the customer service!
Its the responsibility of the manufacturer to make sure their products are serviced by Skilled and resposible engineers and in my opinion many dont, in my patch there is a person who did a course on domestic appliance repairs and he worked for a well known Service company and then moved on to working for a manufacturer and i have had many discussions with him as he likes to diagnose faults with out even taking the top and back off appliances!! One of the worst “engineers” i have encountered in 32 years.
One thing is for sure goverment intervention and regulation will not change that, because you cant make a bad apple taste good! (yes my opinion has changed on regulation, i am still learning!)

martin, built under double ovens do not fit in a cabinet, they have their own metal runners, and lowering would cause the bottom edge of the oven to not be in line with the cabinet doors either side so not an option. you would also end up with a massive gap between the top of the oven fascia and worktop.

This depends on what your terms and conditions say, if you have any did you send her a copy before delivery, did she sign them?

    Re: dishwasher sizes

and the reason is that the original fitter built the kitchen around the dishwasher instead of leaving a 600mm gap. I make sure my fitters measure 600mm between cabinets, and not to dry fit the dishwasher and pressing the cabinets tight to it.
on the ones that were tight when you replaced with a new bsh dishwasher did you measure the gap? bet it wasnt 600mm.

Martin i also do repairs, and to be honest we come across a few where other engineers have written the unit off for a board when all that was at fault was impellor jug or blockage, been fixing appliances for 32 years martin!

Gdha owned belling 9 years before they bought stoves, not a merger at all, belling manufacturing returned to the prescot approx 4 years ago, yet they bought stove in 2002, so you statement dosnt add up mate, like i said you didn’t take much notice.

You do talk some rubbish martin. Whilst i agree that they are not what they once were, they certainly are better than the lux and whirlpool crap

    Re: Bosch Dishwasher Recall

George you have identified the problem, the boards are not able to handle the fluctuations in the power supply, thats why they fail. Is that a manufacturing fault, who knows?

You obviously didnt take that much notice when you were there then. I wont eloborate as its not worth it, all i will say is that one if my friends was in charge of the range cooker development for many years.
