ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WDL5290 fault code lights confusion
Thanks for the reply, i have read a number of posts on this forum and some techs say to ignore the door lock light and some say to count it. Anyway I will as you say count the door lock light as number 1

Yes, the condenser fan is a common problem on these Hotpoints. It can be replaced but its a bit fiddly. the original fan is probably no longer available but I have adapted the housing in the past to take ordinary freezer compartment fans and they always work fine. This model also suffers from the evaporator thermistor failing giving similar symptoms to yours. It is behind the plastic panel in the freezer and has a green plug, regalements are available on ebay. Hope that helps

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FF200LP Fridge/Freezer keeps icing up
No, the green one from the Mistral has a different temperature coefficient and wont work.
The operation of the heater can be tested manually on the FF200L by turning both temp controls to off then pressing the fast freezer button for about 4 seconds. The module will then make a beep and you will hear the fan in the freezer start up. For about 5 mins the heater will run then it will cancel itself. This test will prove that the heater and 1 shot devices are working but wont test the thermistor. If it passes this test but still ices up you either have an air leek around the door seals or the drip valve where the water exits the freezer is damaged or missing, or more likely the thermistor is defective. If you inspect thermistor you may well see that the nylon collar around the cable entry point has become displaced and is allowing moisture in. It will have to be replaced if this is the case. Not all of them use this type of thermistor but it is the most common, Hope that helps.EZappliances
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FF200LP Fridge/Freezer keeps icing up
I’ve fixed about 20 of these now with the same icing fault. Its the evaporator thermistor that’s at fault. Its the one with the green sleeve on the cable. Problem is that Hotpoint don’t offer the thermistor as a spare part. Once the thermistor is out of tolerance due to moisture ingress the freezer carries out a very short defrost cycle of or no cycle at all. I have found a Thermistor of the same characteristics produced for a different manufacturer fridge freezer that works in that position. Ive had no bouncers in over a year on the FF200L with it fitted. Of course many people may not wish to fit an none approved part. For anybody that does then email me at dave@ezappliances.co.uk and I will tell you what it is and where to get it.

ParticipantThanks for the information chaps. Problem now solved. We replaced the relay board that switches the dryer element and all is well. The dryer element does not seem to have an earth leak. The relay board is available from connection part number 5045174493024 at a reasonable price of £35 + vat hope that may help somebody else in the future.

ParticipantRe: Samsung RS21WCNS Fridge freezer, Fridge not cold
Ok, have had a more detailed look at this problem and it seems the main defrost heater has gone OC, it should read 480 ohms, but this one is completely OC. Does anybody know if the defrost heater is available as a spare part or does one have to replace the whole evaporator?
Thanks for any help as I would like to draw this one to a conclusion that leaves me a little profit :o)EZappliances
ParticipantRe: Samsung RS21WCNS Fridge freezer, Fridge not cold
thanks for the info , is it possible to get a service manual for this Samsung so I can familiarise myself with the intricate workings of this model as I have no previous experience of these American style fridge freezers

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Fridge freezer FFA71, Fridge compartment too c
That’s a shame as its a nice piece of kit to look at. Its actually a stock item for our shop. I have several of them with gas leaks too. So I am going to cut around inside the fridge on a scrap one and find the thermister. Once found I will measure out its exact location and post the results so others can find it to. Nothing to loose and certainly not paying Hotpoint £95 to come and tell me its Knackered javascript:emoticon(‘:(‘)
