ask seller/estate why the advertised it as 2 bedroom flat…do you still have the orig sale schedule??…
are they still selling it as a 2 bedroom flat??? if not why not??

in scotland its really up to you own solicitor to find out exactly whats for sale by checking the title deeds.. all this costs as your daughter has found out …money… i would pay what due and walk away…as theirs only one road this is going down…..a one way money trail straight into both solicitors pockets…

as they are all in bed together you wont win/resolve anything without throwing a lot of money away

    Re: Pension funding?

ive been thinking of investing in a couple of rental flats.but havent yet found the time to investigate further. one of our customers has about 10 flats all let to university students, they started with one about 4 years ago..

not looking to make a fast buck out of it..purely investment which will hopefully see me alright in about 20 years time.

    anyone else done this

operations manager for scotland E.S.D has left the building..
    no goodbuys to his engineers..nothing.

    wonder whats happened ????

shame really this was the guy that built up the Scottish side of esd,and was then forced to sit and watch a couple clueless gas managers rip it apart..

2 cents, i thought you were British.?

we are agents for one of the budget end appliances, and i cant complain to much as it keeps us busy..

the only thing i know for sure is…there seems to be an endless amount of customers who are willing to buy at the budget end of the market.

some may i point out have previously purchased expensive appliances and had nothing but trouble with them..

a lot of middle of the road customers we go to have some excuse up their sleeve as to why they bought a budget applinace… ie they were going on hols, or the car broke down as well..so went for cheap appliance .

but most customers we go to dont really have the luxury of choice …to them its the cheapest that they can get..

its all about profit to these large companies.. dont know what they make on a sale, but i think appliances leave the factory door about £40-60..?

and your right they dont give a stuff about green policy’s, they only pay lip service to them.

cant remember what else i was going to say…

    so that my tuppensworth..

    priceless but true,

and that in a nutshell is whats wrong with a lot of big companies, giving jobs to people who are clueless to the industry their operating in.
big corporations seem to have this amazing knack to put the wrong people in senior/important positions, then spend most of their energy justifying their appointments.

one company i used to work for is full of them, at every level??
i wonder who it could be..mmmmm

i often wonder how much more profit they could make by getting rid of the dead wood, and their stealthy costly mistakes.

Re: British Gas To Drop Appliance Servicing?

i dont think appliance repairs is that lucrative for b-g ,

their costs are enormous, purpose built ware house holding huge amounts of stock, vans, engineers, computers

parts buyers buying huge amounts of unwanted parts
1 example ( some person bought 7000 fhp hotpoint motors, not the common ones that fit wm series ,but the ones that fitted the old 95 series)
of course when you ordered a motor for wm series you got this motor,
which duly caused a shed load of problems..

and like you say k. they are having to take on anything that moves.
multi appliance, without the multi tech back-up…
this is where they are hemorrhaging money, believe me ive been there seen it and got the t-shirt, i used to be involved @ tech level, numerous frantic tel calls from engineers with multi visits/multi parts fitted (this was on a daily basis).

also once the customer realizes that the deal is not so rosey when the appliance is un-repairable, ie they only get a percentage toward a new app etc..

gas price increases also has an effect on the homecare packages, as some customers just cant afford to have everything, and its homecare thats 1st to get ditched..

they do however make good money from the home electrics scheme, i think its about £5 a month now, there now huge stock holding as most of the time its a light switch or a socket,

whether its ethical to send a whitegoods engineer to an electrical job is an other debate.

yes Alex, thanks for remembering me,i was fiercely loyal its funny how you can get wrapped up in corporate smoke and p{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}h.

i defo think esd has went down hill over the last 2 years,

this funnily enough coincided with the powers at be @ centrica saying..
i say old chap that esd thingy has made us some money…what exactly is it..send a couple of our worst gas managers over,…..oh and tell them to run it like the gas side..cos we can just about understand the gas business now..

sure enough the gas managers came, and sure enough they have tried to apply the gas ethos to the electrical division ????
and the out-come is plain to see…

sad thing is, they dont seem to be able to grasp why its not working, and nobody has the balls to tell them.

if they keep going like this they will run it into the ground,(not far to go by the looks of it) and it will take serious money to rebuild it,which i have no doubt that they have, whether they will want to spend it on a side show that they dont understand is another matter.

Re: British Gas To Drop Appliance Servicing?

looks like the appointment of clueless managers has came home to roost.

13 from Scotland have left this year, i ve had had a few calls from other engineers looking for inroads into going it alone,

its funny to see the change in their attitude regarding brit-gas, i was the same when i worked for them rosey tinted glasses and all that (corporate brainwashing)…

over 18 months their attitude has dramatically changed, from yes its the best job ive had……to were treated like s$$$t ,

the field managers also seem to have ran out of spin, as they cant seem to encourage their engineers to stay.

the sad fact is those in the ivory towers seem to think every-thing is running smoothly.
