ParticipantRe: The 0800 Thread
nothing wrong with defending yer corner mike , even though as you say mis placed loyalty and all that ..
i used to defend or try to fight brit gas corner when i worked for them and joined ukw just at the time when brit gas dropped a lot of ukw repair agents …in a very unprofessional manner .
i was like a lamb to slaughter – but all fun …………aye them was the days …ps – do tell

ParticipantRe: electrical safety testing ?
just another area of the appliance industry that doesnt have a pigeon hole to fit in ..
very grey area .. i get the point ddrill is saying that we are only responsible up to the plug which is probably correct and should an appliance engineer be expected to test customers house electrics ??
morally responsible ? for testing an earth path and advising customer to potential riks , – as george says our test equipment can carry out tests that give accurate readings.
maybe something the wta to look at and give advice ?
ps george – you should have tested metal parts of appliance with a volt stick before putting your hands on it ..

ParticipantRe: electrical safety testing ?
so just as i thought – good practice , not legal/mandatory
i would still advise customer myself if i thought earth path was faulty.
its another situ where if you were last at appliance etc and didnt check earth etc what would happen if customer got a shock etc..

ParticipantRe: BOSCH WAE28366GB/25 LEAK FROM DOOR ?
possible martin . its not big leak and very intermittent so customer never thought about reporting,
door hinge looks on but it may be a tad twisted thus causing the issue with door ..
good shout maybe ill order door – hinge and seal for good measure …

ParticipantRe: Vow of silence of what?
meeting was a bit more low key this year , not many announcements etc – but i dont think theres a lot happening at the mo.
its like the old saying “you gota be in it to win it” or something like that .
so really you have to attend to get the full picture.
ken do we have any info from the service management training ?

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
yeh when your in glasgow – you have to finish your sentence whith – “know what a mean man “
edinburgh = ” does wan understand “
falkirk/Stirling – finish sentence with ken wit a mean ..
cumbernauld – ” thats pure broke that is man “
all these can be done in posh – slang with a hint of english – irish welsh and most popular foreign accents
terms and conditions apply

i get this a lot …being from central scotland and working either in the west or the east ..
wheres that accent from ?
if im in the west ie glasgow – … most people think im from fife ..north east ..
if im in east ie edinburgh – people think im from glasgow
i could barley be 5 miles west of office and people feel they need to ask where my accents from ….it really funny when i say 5 minutes along the road ..
i try to have a laugh with customer and say if they guess wrong there not getting appliance fixed …
it always fascinated me all the different accents from such a small we island ..

ParticipantRe: Beko Employed Engineers?
my take is you give an honest 8 hours if your employed – self employed can be anything from an 8 hour day to 16 hours and weekends ..this may raise an eyebrow or 2 but its a reality for many self employed people ..

ParticipantRe: Mike Dangerfield…anyone I should know?
its a shame really , i thought they were trying to mend bridges from the last debacle they created with the indies ..
when i worked with scot gas i was privileged if thats the right word into some of the inner workings- mindset of brit gas and the mothership centrica –
it quickly became obvious that the esd electrical division was on a tight leash controlled by a predominantly gas orientated organisation who didnt really understand appliance industry..
this didnt help when they bought ageing co,s to try and gain a foot hold in the appliance sector , buying there way in also bought old school thinking and a huge wage bill of people who would have been fired /paid of in any other walk of life . dinosaurs with a nice pension fund
so it doesnt surprise me when i hear of the smoke – mirrors and spin they bumble out from time to time
what we have seen so far is puppets controlled by a gas dominated industry -and thats all there will be as they see the appliance industry/ indies as small change and something they cant manipulate or make money from //

ParticipantRe: Beko Employed Engineers?
if they pay their engineers well is a big IF , in an ideal world we would all be on 40k basic ..it looks like theirs a lot of unhappy engineers floating about ..
a mate of mine whos self employed just know has just went for interview with know how as hes fed up with been busy one week and deed the next .. but i said do you think you can put up with all the nonsense running around getting jobs at 4pm etc ..

ParticipantRe: Mike Dangerfield…anyone I should know?
what happened to the big speech we got at last meeting from mr melrose ? re working together ..this seems like another work agency trying to fill their pockets doing something brit gas could do their self’s directly , burning bridges spring to mind hear ..
